  1. Yer, has to be one out of every hundred that runs like cr4p, I got number 100 I think. Had 4 rev3's now none have been like this one. The 04 was spot on out the crate, meant to also say I ve been running a 5es plug which may have improved the running better than anything else.
  2. Knew it would run ****e from new, time went on and it was nt getting better. Ride quite abit now and did nt want it gone for a week, fixed the damping rod at the quarry so no big deal there. Spoke to Lampkins and they sorted the finer tuning out. All good now though
  3. Finally got the Beta to run as it should - took 3 months though! I have fitted the extra float bowl, changed the pilot to a 27.5, left the main as standard and have now set the needle to the standard position in the middle rather than dropping it one notch as I have done on all the other rev 3's I ve had. Carb is still leaking but pretty sure the fuel needle needs replacing as it isnt stopping fuel flow off. Did the carb mods, thanks to r2wtrials for the info. Never had to mess about with a bike so much before to get it running right. Fuel screw is also set at 2 and now running 70ml of fully synthetic repsol to 5 litres of AvGas. Forks now have damping after finding out the damping rod had nt been attatched to the cap and work really well. Dropped the forks through the yolks to lift the front as I have the rear shock set up quite hard, pleased with the bike now but it nearly went in the TMX last month in favour of a Gasser or Sherco
  4. Try a new plug mate, if your lads like mine make sure he has nt pulled any wires out anywhere. Disconect the kill switch incase its that first. Could be the ignition, but pretty sure Beta have sorted that out now.Take the plug cap off and see if the H/t wire is getting sparks, could just be the plug cap itself
  5. Just insured my 06 rev 3 with Bennets, bike is registered and kept in a shed on the property which I declared. Third party fire and theft with
  6. Well done Barry, easy step to ride once committed but does take plenty of balls to have a go at it first time. Not been to Killkenny for a couple of years, give me a shout next time your going and I'll come and have a wobble
  7. Leggins - what exactly do you mean by gas it up?
  8. Hey Stu, Been on Betas for 5 years now, love to have a Gasser though. Really got put off after buying the new 01 model and giving it back two months later due to 3 major breakdowns, new clutch and 2 ignition systems. Heard lots of problems since as well - gearboxes - water pumps, will buy one though when they are more reliable. Beta's seem to last forever, easy to work on but have noticed as have a couple of my mates the 06 seems not to be as well made as the 04's. Had big carb problems with mine - still not 100% yet but I am trying yet another set up today. Cant get on with the Sherco and dont want to have to learn how to ride differently with the 4 stroke
  9. Walk away E9999!!!! save some more money up and buy a new one if you can, your keen to start up again and last thing you need is a bike in bits every week and throwing money at it when all you want to do is be riding.
  10. Bike seems to have lots of problems that are playing on your mind, if you buy it they will only get worse in your eyes. Personally I would look elsewhere, if your keen on taking the sport up last thing you need is a bike that may prove unreliable and cost you more money in the short term. Hang on if you can for a good bike and if possible spend abit more for a good one.
  11. Give BVM moto a call in the morning, they should have all the bits you need, pretty standard fasteners for Betas. There mail order is really quick - link below http://www.bvm-moto.co.uk/
  12. Choke is up for on - fuel tap forward horizontal for reserve - up for on backwards horizontal for off. Carb will be *****, takes about 6 months to set it up but i think the 250 is easier than the 270 I ve got. Twisty black thing on the end of the bars gets you up stuff Forgot to add, Betas have a habit of lots of bolts coming loose so check the rear disc bolts - exhaust bolts - and rear bash plate ones especially. Built to last the Beta's thats why I have had three in a row now over the Gassers which regualry break down these days

If anyone wonders whether its worth the money I can safely say Yes it is, and no doubt helps with the costs of running this top site.
