  1. Thanks Mick, no bike went clean, yer took ages to clean off but did it as soon as I got home. Could be the reason the Mich is more expensive, but a tenner less for the added grip of the IRC makes the price worth while.

    Fuel Mix

I always used 75ml of TTS to every 5 litres of super unleaded in my 07 Sherco, worked well, 15ml to every litre

  7. Gizza I thought that one was quite good mate, had a little chuckle, not long though, wait till you pull some crackers on the day mate I ran into the back of a Mondeo this morning in the snow, dwarf gets out and shouts "I aint ****ing Happy" I shouted back "Which ****ing one are you then?"
  8. By the 3rd??? on the bloody shelf now mate speedo is a tricky one so they said, no doesnt actually need one and if its got one it doesnt have to work???? I stuck one on just incase, didnt fancy charging round this morning trying to sort something.
  9. One more thing to add, maybe the most important, take it to a dealer/test centre that has experience of off road bikes (knows the score etc) not sure how I would have faired at a main Honda dealer selling Superbikes etc. I'll post some pics of the old gal with the set up tomoz if your good might even strip her down abit as well for anything goes forum
  10. To be honest, most of us would be in the **** abit if we get stopped whilst at a Trial, luckily it doesn't happen very often but the MOT has enabled me to get the bike taxed and insured which is about as legal as you can get with a modern trials bike. I think it would take a pretty harsh copper to go much further than a quick warning if documents have to be produced over a daytime MOT or too small a number plate etc. The MOT today was alot easier to sort out than I had imagined, although it did take abit of last minute running around to get stuff.
  11. lol, never had a 2 stroke for more than 18 months, Gert just keeps going speedo was easiest thing I could think of doing, and air horn was my only chance but did nicely
  12. Went to insure Gert couple of weeks ago ready for the Vic on the 3rd and realised the old gal is now 3 years old and in need of an MOT Never had a Trials bike long enough to need one so abit of problem to get sorted asap and I had no real idea what needed doing to the bike. Popped into a local bike shop to me and asked what was what, and they said a daytime MOT for a trials bike was the way to go as you dont need any lights on the bike at all even a brake one. Must have a full sized number plate though which was 9 quid (cheaper than i thought) and I pinched a rear reflector bracket off laddo's pushbike to mount it to the mudguard (worked well) Bike must also have a rear reflector though which again I pinched off lads pushbike. Speedo has to be on the bike but doesnt need to work??????????? didnt have one so popped to Argos last night and bought a pushbike comp thing that fitted in about 5 mins, about 8 quid and will do for later years. Horn was biggest problem, was going to go to Halfords and get a battery type one as MOT now requires a constant sounding horn rather than the trumpet type years ago, none in Halfords or Argos so got one of those aerosol ones (the really loud ones) cable tied it to the fork stanchion and job done. I did replace all wheel bearings, tightended spokes and as they were close to changing swapped the pads all round as well, check head stock bearings as a fair bit of time is spent checking this on the test as well as anything too loose. Tyres were a problem as the IRC doesnt have a E marking on them which they need to confirm Euro road use. My front Mich has it and the Mich rear so lucky my spare wheel still has a Mich on it. No noise test as such, just a quick fire up to make sure it did'nt blow any ear drums, but the brakes are tested as per any MOT on the rolling road. If the bike had any lights on it they have to work, so you may find a daytime MOT is the way to go. Didn't have any problems insuring the bike with daytime so unless you need to use it in the dark then why bother. Quite a thorough check over really for what there is on a trials bike, but if you make sure its nice and clean, got the correct tyres on and everything is up together (bearings/spokes etc) should be ok.
  13. Ham, really worked for me on Sunday, not all climbs can be done this way though. Rod showed me and Ralph where the bunnies live another technique for hanging climbs, very, very steep with no run up about 10-15 foot high. Full chat in the bottom till the throttle hits the stop, dump the clutch imediatley then shut the throttle fully and roll up, very daunting first few goes as you think you'll throw the bike over your head but it really does work.
  14. Gary, I tried this out yesterday on Gerty (not known me or her for getting up muddy climbs) and the difference was incredible thanks. Wound her up full chat, fed clutch out for first 4-5 metres and kept throttle on all the way up, before I would have spun at the bottom dumping the clutch.
  15. Found it Behind Bars (01926 855541) plenty of online shops, quite a few advertising on here as well with banners.
  16. Tom, theres a spares company (cant remember name) at every trial ESTC runs and I'm pretty sure they do clothing. I'll have a look on the site and see if I can find them as I expect they're based localish. Have a go on a few bikes on the 27th as there sould be many makes and years to choose from, you might think Sherco now but something else may fit the bill better once you've had a go.
  17. Hi Tom, The Yennards is still there, better than ever and soon to have quite a facelift over the coming months. Virtually a trial on every month throughout the year and 50 quid practice membership so you can go there whenever you like. Very well run club and always plenty of entries, not sure what level you got to at schoolboy but they put on at least 4 routes these days. Earl Shilton Trials Club Think theres a practice day on the 27th (look on site) maybe worth going along and see if you can scrounge a go on a few bikes, someone may even have one for sale there. PM me if your going up might go myself as I've not been for a while and I'll introduce you to Gerty and may drag Gizza up there if he's up to it with a thermos and blanket to mark some sections out Good luck Just
