    Rear swinger

Tighten until it doesnt stick and no play is present. Could be bushes are worn irregularly. Easy to make a new set with small lathe and a 14mm drill or Martin Matthews at motoswm could prob sell u some decent ones at a reasonable price... Stu

    Flywheel Weight

Some pics of my flywheel findings - with further mods this weekend Carb, timing and ignition "settings" bike now revs out much better and am liking the lighter weight much more than last time I rode with it. Was too stally and weak feeling. Am still going to make one with in between weight (I like the sound of Burgat recommendation of 800g? removed in a previous post I read) Grip is affected but nothing that throttle control and body engish shouldnt sort. Best wishes Stu

    Flywheel Weight

Hi Must admit I would only mod my main riding SWM for reliabilty / maintenance reasons - really like to keep em as original as poss - and wouldnt dream of changing me "Bernie Jumbos" from their "standard works guise"!! Not that I wouldn't ride em in anger - far from it - just that they both STILL have broken kickstart shafts that MUST be fixed before next years Bill Pyes 3 day as I promised me mate Scrumpy that we both ride one each at this event.. Need to sort some motivation, space and

    Flywheel Weight

Hi The 320s are 276cc Flywheel I bought seemed to be a home engineering job tho hard to tell with passing of time. Is it the Dave Renham Bultaco kit slightly modified?? I thought about this but wasnt sure how to trigger signal from a std flywheel?? Would LOVE to lose my points Cheers Stu

    Flywheel Weight

Hi Good thread Not posted on here for yonks - but couldnt resist this one. I have lots of SWM bits but couldnt find any spare flywheels so I bought one from ebay with the idea of lightening it. Then my mate returned one of my spare flywheels that I had inadvertantly given him in a box of Gori bits. As soon as he handed it back to me I realised that it seemed VERY heavy! the last flywheel I had held was the ebay one.... Putting the 2 together I instantly realised that the one I had bought to lighten had already been done!!!! VERY strange indeed. It has had a couple of mil taken from both its diameter AND its face so is a fair bit lighter than STD. I rode the superb Cumberland County 2 day classic at the weekend and after a dothery Saturday decided to test me new flywheel on the Sunday WOW what an amazing difference - felt like riding a Fantic!!! LOL will endeavour to weigh it and compare to original next time I am in the garage. To be honest it was a little too whippy and seemed to rev out far too quickly - reckon a bit of re jetting and or exhaust work and it will feel more like a "340" Fantic (which isnt always a good thing) Best wishes Stu
  15. many thanks for your informative replies and pics - the start of an interesting journey i think... stu
  16. Hi again hopefully some pics of the said trials iron . . . what u reckon chaps?? regards Stu
  17. Thanks guys - will try and post a pic when I get back to bike to take one. On theoriginality note have been told that one of the main ways to tell is the front forks are non leading axle on the proper trials version - its forks are of this type and the very reason the bike caught my eye in the 1st place was just how "trially" it looked. Appreciate your comments. M.R: will send you a some pics when I dust it off - tho not overly sure whether to part with it as yet. Best wishes Stu
  18. hi all Think my thread title says it all - just need a bit of positive input from those in the know. VERY original proper trials version of the royal enfield crusader. I had every intention of lovingly restoring it to acceptable competetive riding condition - not to show or molly coddle. However I have been tempted by another project which is more suitable for myself. This crusader is complete and bought as a runner, though I have not even put petrol in and tried it as yet. It has new dunlops and chain and was last ridden in anger 2 years ago. Was considering putting it on fleabay but would really appreciate some rough idea of what price to expect or buy it now price to advertise it at. Apologies if this is posted in wrong section and thanks in advance for any replies I may receive.
  19. Hi All Am interested in riding this renowned event this year for the 1st time on my trusty Schreiber Jumbo - I managed to somehow come across the regs online a few weeks ago but sadly cannot find any current details and did not save to my favourites!!! Any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated. Thanks jumbostu
  20. Hi Malcra Get a polypenco one turned up?? timing was my answer for bottom end trial useable response - I run 30 mm delortos and have a fine bottom end now!!! lol - the 28 I found makes it naturally very over responsive. I have no def formula for the timing other than I retarded mine by a few mil on the stator and struck lucky - so much so I dare not re adjust. Scrumpyjack will bear witness to this - nearly laid the bike up as a bit of eye candy cos it rode so lumpy bottom end - best mod so far - modern fuel burns differently to 80s vintage.... Good luck jumbostu
  21. You tried Peter Knight @ Powersport ?? Rotax bits probably pricey but Jumbos are worth it.... They were a motocross engine 350/360/400/440 - Canam and Kramer (Canam definitely did do a trials bike with this engine fitted around 1984) Regards jumbostu
  22. Hi Me and Scrumpy did the first Mull 2 day on SWM 320TL / Fantic 240 and can definitely confirm that it was a brilliant trial on the most welcoming and spectacular island!!! The first thing we clapped eyes on as we left the ferry towards our guest house was a Golden Eagle!! wow!!! Just on par with the view from atop Ben Mor.... Sadly cant make it this year as its my 1st wedding anniversary on 07/07!! doh!!!! regards jumbostu (hope the dates add up for me next year.....)

    Swm Clutch

Hi Woody Check your cable condition and routing ( take em off and clean em with a solvent spray and force wd 40 down em ( the recommended way to clean a cable was to use hot soapy water!!!) Brand new cables are obviously the best way to go. Dismantle and clean / grease the lever mounting pivot under tank and drill a hole further down the arm to re locate the pin - not so low as to distrot cable run (this will increase its leverage effect) the jumbo needs all it springs in place or will slip like mad. I use and change regularly standard ATF fluid (16 quid a gallon = 4 quid a change) 1200cc of it from memory and my clutch works as well as can be expected from a Rotax motor - consistent in use and a reasonably light useable action. Saying all that tho I bought a Jumbo from Martin with the under tank lever missing and a cable straight from bars to clutch and it is a good bit lighter in operation than my original Shcreiber Jumbo setup!!!! Failing that I fitted a hebo hydraulic conversion to my 320 with good easy success tho 120 quid and not original looking at all. Cheers jumbostu
  24. Thanks Bumpy - rode it today at Harwood Dale - it rides superb! jumbostu
