    Im looking for a petrol tap for a 1999 tank (The carbon firbe one) although I assume a 98/00 (maybe more?) will fit.

    Anyone have one lying about for sale?

  2. Im neutral on this, I do think we have gone backwards, but now we can only move forwards?

    Using Montesa specifically with the huge Honda company, they will move forward, its very unlikely that they can produce a new bike and not develop it further.

    The GasGas range from years ago is good to look at, producing the bigger, wider, heavier bikes in early 1990's, and then by 2000 it was completely the opposite and to this year was STILL being developed.

    The 4strokes will give the manufactures a fresh start, with the past knowledge and experience from the 2Stokes, they'll would have learnt things about bikes,engines and rider.

    Now they must put all that into a new bike, the 4 strokes.

    Look at the Montesa, Gas Gas, Beta...ANY bike how it is now, and add 5 years on, and then see how much it will develop then. Yes, we have gone back in time, but this will give the manufactures something new to look at and make a bit of a challenge. It will be interesting to see which company comes up top and how much they develop these next few years.

  3. Be careful what you use to polish up with if your going to be applying stickers.

    Use machine and NOTHING adhesive will stick to your mudguard properly. Mr Sheet isnt a once apply, clean away thing. It is slightly water repellent and dust repellent, so it will stay on your mudguards.

    Your best bet is a good scrub with fairy liquid, its a degreaser, not solvent based, and it great for stickers. Whenever I apply a new sticker to the mont I always clean the spot with fairy liquid as it gets rid of oil, and yet its easily cleaned off.

  4. People will recommend the bike they ride...so basically your only asking which is the most popular bike...and everyone knows thats a gasser.

    No one will recommend a different bike to the one they ride...it doesn't make sense otherwise...why recommend another bike if you dont ride one?

    You will here the same 'blah blah blah' of the best bike things thats put onto these forums everyday...the only way you can get information about a bike is to RIDE IT.

    As r2w said, get down to the BMV bike tester day, there you can sample all the bikes for your personal comfort, and then you can get a more useful input on the bikes...

    Once you (for example) feel that you like the gasser, you can get more of a specific imput on the bike its self rather then the 'Gas Gas are better then sherco because your gay' and all that B*****ks.

    You can ask more useful questions such as the average cost of maintenance and problems that my occur...

  5. Just got the parts that I ordered yesterday, exactly what I wanted, top quality!

    Ordered at about 2pm yesterday, arrived at about 9am this morning, not bad!

  6. I very well known cure for leaking tyres though the spokes is too fit a montesa wheel, fit one and you'll wonder how you ever did without ringing sandiford every weekend for replacement spokes...its starts to get fun after a while!

  7. I think the moral is, Dont fix what isn't broken.

    The mont isnt suited to all riders, but it IS a good bike, Honda have the money to create the most advanced trial bike in the championships,Honda/Montesa are giants in the world of bikes, and they will know what they are doing.

    Its all fine saying what could change, which yes, it could change. At the cost of thousands.

    For every part on the montesa is effective of something else, and something else and something else.

    Ok, they change to a completely new design of brake pedal, they need to sort out the production of it, the testing of it, and altering of it, the re-production of it, re-testing it...ect ect

    It is a very very lengthy project in a production of a bike.

    For anything you effect on a bike, will effect something else for better or for worse, Montesa will want to develop and improve, but it wont happen over night. It takes lots of time and money.

    Though now with the 4 strokes in, I'd be expecting some complaints when they go on sale.

  8. How do I heat the nuts without setting fire to the left over fuel inside? :)

    Reason being, I just brought a new tank from ebay...I brought it so i HAVE to fit it...theres no reason for it, but nevermind.

    The tank came without a tap, so thought was that I could just use the tap from the old one...but, its a simple solution...and with simple comes problems...more hassle then its worth really.

    Anyone selling a fuel tap in the UK, let me know!

  9. Hi all!

    Trying to get the tap of my montesa tank.

    I have 2 8mm bolts that hold the tap to the tank. I turn either of the bolts and they just 'jump'. I need to get the tap off, but it isnt loosening off or anything.

    Any ideas?

    My guess is that the thread on the tank is...well...******.

  10. I wouldn't look on their website as a reflection on their service. Shirty has  a dead cool, flashy website and a good reputation for service. The Rathmells have no website and still have a good reputation for service. It's not a factor to even take into account. If the service was bad, believe me - somebody would have complained about it on here! :)

    I posted a topic on here a while ago as regards Sandifords website and the lack of updates and information.

    And YOU (incriminating Andy ;) ) said that they were building/planning a new(er) website, any news on that?

  11. I really dont see much point in the balls or the mousses. Stupidly priced. You could by a whole new tyre for the price of the puncture reduction stuff, and with a new tyre comes better grip.

    Not to mention the fact that its a lot easier to fit the new tyre and have it done with rather then arseing about with overpriced gadgets?

    We've done fine with good old air for many years, why change now?!

  12. Very nice area in Buxton, drove though it at about 3am once on the way to Birmingham Airport (?) and its nothing but mists...cant help but thing of the ammount of cars that have proberbly drove off the edge in the night.

    Never rode a trial there though, but from things I have seen of it, it looks a great place to host one!

  13. My costs run into thousands having been spent at Sandifords, and they are an exellent service, all the parts I require are in stock and are sent out exetremly quickly.

    I've never been let down by Sandifords, and dont think I will be!!

  14. Id doubt it, I think it depend on Ragas choice of Money or Commitment. Keep in mind Raga has stuck with Gas gas since the start of his career, and so the loyalty is definatly there.

    Although keep in mind Ragas relationship with Jordi Tarres! If Raga was to move to Honda would that relationship still be there?

    Raga seems very commited to GG and I really cant see him moving, unless it is a money matter.

    Although as a top rider, young rider and VERY talented rider Im pretty sure Raga can set some deal with gas gas?

    After all, for the sake of more money, Id think gas gas would like to keep Raga aswell as the reputation of transporting one of the best riders in trials!

    Unfortunatly not, been very busy these past few months with exams and work and whatnot.

    But, starting to get out on the bike more often now, and now I have some funds coming in I can tart the bike up.

    I will be riding in the very near future...
