Hi Jim,
I'm fairly new to this myself, only completed my 3rd trial last sunday. In my first i fell off numerous times, once heavily banging my right elbow on a rock, was sore for about a week. 2nd trial same thing other elbow, that was Boxing day and its still a bit sore now.
So for my 3rd trial i wore elbow pads, just light weight things but safe knowing it wasnt going to happen again, turns out the 3rd trial was mostly on grass and mud no big rocks so i was safe.
If you feel that you are going to fall off a lot and your riding in rocky areas then give them a try, you can always take them off.

I picked up one made by Cargo from my local bike dealers, the sort of thing that sportsbike riders use, seems decent quality and only

I thought he might have managed to get his back wheel over that rock!

Thanks everyone.
Andy are you sure those measurements are right? 21mm from the top of the float, the float itself is about 20-25mm in dia it would have to be sitting on the bottom of the float bowl to give me a 21mm gap.

I bought a Ty175 a few months ago, it felt very underpowered so after checking I took it for a re-bore, it turns out it wasnt a 175 but a 125. I took it back to the dealers where i bought it and they were great, it took a couple of weeks but they got me a 175 barrel and head, and had it re-bored for me.
Now i've put it all back together it just not running right. It doesnt want to rev in gear and its not to keen on revving out of gear, the carb was set up for a 125 so i've changed the main jet back to 175 size (240), the only way i can get it to rev somewhere near what it should is to remove the air filter and even the air filter box lid, putting either back seems to restrict it.
Any idea what the problem is or can anyone make any suggestions.

AtomAnt, thats spot on, thats what I was trying to say. Baldilocks can you see what we mean now?
As far as grip goes, in my opinion its all down to weight distribution and throttle control, a better rider moving his body weight and using his throttle will always find grip where the rest struggle.
So to answer the original question, most bikes feel different because of there weight distribution and the way there power is delivered.

Rotation of the wheel will depend on engine revs and/or gearing, the stroke length doesnt make any difference. A piston goes past TDC once every revolution no matter how long the stroke is.

Thanks for the help. I went to the Barrow & District trial yesterday as a spectator, had a walk around watched a few sections and had a good chat with a few people, really enjoyed it and looking forward to having a go. I found out there is one at Bootle next week so i'll be entering that, then if im still in 1 piece the Barrow clubs one 2 weeks after.
Thanks,
Scott.

Hi everyone, new here so take it easy on me.
I did a couple of trials about 15yr ago on a borrowed Beamish, didnt do to well but enjoyed it and always promised myself I would do it again one day.
Well that day is here, i've got a TY175 had a little practise and ready to throw myself into it, but where and how do I start? Can anyone give me some help?
I've no idea about clubs, venues, prctise areas etc, the only think I do know is that I cant bunny hop or do any of the fancy tricks I see on DVD's and various videos.
The bike works well enough (seems a bit underpowerd) i've got the clothing and transport, whats my next step?
Thanks in advance,
Scott.
PS in 43 if that makes any difference and just looking for a fun day out (thats not meant to sound like a singles advert)
Forgot to mention I live in South Cumbria and looking for trials in that area.
