What is the silver paint you have painted the frame with, and where did you get it?
And have you painted the crankcase covers? and again was it the same paint?
Great job looks very good.

With standard footrests you dont have to lift it to use the kickstart, thats why the kickstart is bent that way.
I fitted the Miller kit to mine and having to lift the footrest all the time became a pain, even worse was falling off or stalling when i was on a hill (right hand side) and not being able to lay the bike over far enough so the footrest would stay up so i could start it.
Someone did suggest tightening the bolt up enough so it stayed up in stutations like that, so i tried that and found that if i hit a rock half way through a section and it lifted the footrest then it stayed up and i had to struggle through, in the end i went back to the originals.

Any idea what the silver is for the frame? Or a near match.

Brilliant Andy, just one problem.
From now on when anyone reads/replys to your posts they will have this picture in there head of you in your underwear!!!!

I also love the thought of being abducted, not by aliens though. It would have to be Girls Aloud!

Thanks Tony thats a great site.
Nicbrrghs next time your TY bogs down going up a hill, stop and whip the plug out, the colour of it will give you some idea whats wrong, i had similar problems when i first got mine, the carb settings were all over the place.

Andy, as far as I can see you hav'nt done anything stupid to yours, just some well thought out mods.
Have you made my airbox yet?
-
I tried my forks flush, it was unrideable, tried longer rear shocks also unrideable. Went back to standard length shocks 15mm fork sticking through the yolk feels so much better.
Tried Miller footrests and brackets, didnt like them went back to the standard rests but modified the brackets so they are much lower and about an inch further back, feels much better.
Try everything, play around and see what feels best for you. I went out one day just to practise a tricky river/stream section that gets used a bit on local trials. Took some tools with me and played around with the fork hight till it felt good going through the section.
They were great bikes, still are, you can have loads of fun, parts are cheap and easy to obtain, and providing you dont do anything really stupid with them you'll get back what you paid for it months or years later.

Andy, give Nige Birkett a ring, theres very little he doesnt know when it comes to porting TY's.
-
A lot depends on what rear shocks your running. I had Betors on mine for a while and ended up moving the forks up and down trying to get it to work (The Betors were slightly longer than standard).
At the moment im running 15mm stuck up, but i have done a bit of work on the springs and spacers.
Go to where ever you practise, take some tools with you and start off at flush and go up by 5mm at a time till you feel happy. As well as the rear shocks having an effect, your height, weight and the way you like the bike to work are all important factors.

I agree with Arun, take that cover off, clean everything inside re-grease everything and put it back, if still no joy then its either to badly worn or your problem is inside the gearbox.
TY Trials do a full kit including a new cover have a look Here.

Very nice Andy, you must have spent some time polishing those rims.
-
Where did you get stainless spokes from?
-
Andy, I cant remember did you say you had changed anything in the carb after fitting it?
-
Can you explain that a bit more? I know Andy on here has had a new airbox built, but what exactly do you mean by open up a bit.
Dimensions would be very nice.
-
I cant find those instructions on there website, have you got the link?
-
Excellent, what a great result.

When should he have been released? After LH perhaps?
See previous post explaining how the pit lane works.
This weekend should be interesting with LH and his 10 place penalty.
If he goes really light on fuel so he can qualify on pole (grid place after penalty 11th) or knowing hes going to start from midfield and might have to run longer in the race he'll add more fuel and qualify 3rd-5th ending up 14th to 16th on the grid.
He's never started that low down in F1 and give his habit of some strange (but good to watch) moves in the 1st couple of corners i can see him pitting at the end of the first lap for a new front wing.
-
Wrong, he was still in the pitlane, with his pitlane rev limitter on, full acceleration wouldnt have happened till he let go of the limiter as he crossed the line at the end of the pits.
Stop trying to blame Kimi, it was LH fault. Imagine his insurance claim form "I was driving along and colided with a stationary car, but it wasnt my fault he shouldnt have been stopped there!!!!!!"
If you are going to black flag people that drive on the inside track (as you put it) of the pitlane, there wouldnt be anybody left in the race as everyone has to drive on it.
Incase you didnt know its perfectly acceptable to use that part of the pitlane, its an advantage the team that won the previous years Consturctors championship gets, in that they can choose either the first or last garage in the pitlane, they pick which one gives them the best advantage in the race, sometime having the 1st garage is the best sometimes the last.
Put it another way, if it was reversed and it had been KR hitting LH in the same circumstances would you be blaming LH? No i didnt think so.
And as for the cars having "a lot of hand controls for starting/pit stops so it isn't as easy as just hitting the brake" yes it is, 1 finger on the pitlane limitter button and then drive as normal.
2nd mistake in 2 races, is LH feeling the pressure?

After various incidents i now carry:
Spark plug and spanner.
Spare lever and 10mm spanner to change it.
Split link and small pliers to change it.
Roll of tape.
Tie wraps but they arent in my bumbag i just slot them inside the foam protector thats on the bars.
And most importantly,
20 JPS and 2 lighters (incase 1 gets wet)
-
Can you post a picture of your sister?
Lovely bike, keep it as it is, ride it enjoy it and save up for the re-chromming.
-
No idea about the chain tensioner, it was done on mine when i got it, its a bit more out the way i suppose.
Yes how is that working out? I'm tempted but my old points are just so reliable and setting the timing is even easier since i bought a spare flywheel and modified it.
Let me know if it is so much better, i might get tempted.
-
Hi Andy, hard to tell. Its got a few Majesty mods (shock position, sump) but some of the others havent been done (rear mudguard loop) I've no idea if the very early ones were like that.
The swinging arm has been modded as well, with the chain tensioner repositioned (mine has that mod, but not had the old mounting taken off, yet!)
Different side stand as well.
You thinking of using the frame for yours?
