    Majesty Tank?

I would think they were probably footrest mounts from what the frame was original used for, i would think Yamaha probably just modified an existing frame for the 125/175 (possibly a trail bike) rather than just build a new 1 from scratch. When i remove them i'll have to fit a wider bash plate as 1 of them spline things does a great job protecting the gear shaft. I've also thought about laying the shocks down, might have a go with this spare frame. I said in CDB that they are starting to make a slightly longer swinging arm for the 175 majesty, hopefully it might fit the original frame. Just out of interest i weighed mine the other day 86kg, my mates 08 Scorpa 4t was 80kg, and a 06 Sherco 250 73.5kg so im thinking it needs to go on a diet.

    Majesty Tank?

Hi Andy, I bought a frame off ebay recently with the intention of trying this, after giving it a lot of thought its not just a simple as cutting the bottom rails off, the back rear engine mount as you know is fitted to the rail going across which is at the same level as the bottom rails, which makes it pointless to cut of the bottom rails. The Majesty and most variations seemed to have a plate which held the footrests and swinging arm and had another tube across holding the rear engine mounts, i decided that it was going to be far to much work, not to mention theres an awfull lot of cutting to be done around the steering head to be able to move that to a more modern angle. So the idea got binned, what i'm doing instead with the frame is removing all the silly little brackets that dont do anything, those 2 splined bits on the bottom rails! And if i can get in with the dremmel those 2 little brackets that are hidden under the toolbox, just going to see how much lighter i can make it, if i go to far well the frame only cost
  3. I run mine at 50:1, Birkett told me that, never had any problem with it.

    Fork Springs

Reading other post the normal thing to do to a Pre 65 bike is to fit more modern internals into the front forks, has anyone tried fitting modern internals into there twinshocks forks, or is it that modern forks are just so much thicker? I've got a TY 175 that could seriously do with something doing with the front forks, i was thinking of perhaps putting some more modern springs into it any ideas what might fit?
  7. I was in the same boat, TY175 but thought i needed a modern bike, bought a 250 Sherco and yes great brakes, handling, suspension etc but just mad power. Didnt like it, I'm old fashioned in my riding in that i do not use the clutch unless i have to, my style suited the Yam but not the Sherco, just depends what your used to. If you can buy a modern bike and still keep the Honda then thats your best option, you know in 10-15yrs you'll sit there crying when you see the prices there going for on Ebay. Im just glad i could afford to keep the Yam when i bought the Sherco, the Sherco has now gone, the Yam i'll probably still be using in 5-10yrs time, still near the bottom of the results but enjoying myself.
  8. Is it really that bad down there for traffic, and your right i dont see much traffic till i get to Manchester. It would be quicker riding the bike to Cornwall if its that bad down there.
  9. How slow do you drive? Its only 6-7hrs drive for me and i'm in Cumbria
  10. You have 2 Scotsmen and a Yorkshireman paying early!!! Given the normal nature of people from those areas it cant be hard to work out who they are
  11. Hi Andre, a lot depends on just what you can lay your hands on. Most classic trials bike were just road bikes converted so in theory any road bike could be converted, a lot will depend on what you want to do with it, are there many trials in Estonia, if so what do other people ride? An old trail/enduro bike could be a good place to start if your just wanting something to practise on. Give us so more information on what available and im sure you will get plenty of help here.
  12. Theres an hour long program on Men & motors (Sky ch131) starting at 8.00pm on the recent Stafford Classic Bike show, i would have posted this earlier but only just found it.
  13. Is that the same Keith Quinn that rides a Walwin BSA? I saw him on it on Sunday at the Westmorland Club Trial, its a nice bike.
  14. He'll????? Male goats!!! that's a serious perversion.
  15. Well someone called Andy posted that on the Goats Central forum
  16. Might be sold out now, it turned up at my WH Smiths on the 17th which was early for our branch, i'm sure you can order a copy of issue 5 from their website.
  17. Many years ago (late 70's) totaly fed up with my usless Villiers engine I fitted a Honda XL125 engine into my Greeves Scottish fame, it worked quite well, go for it then post some pics.

Yes im sure you posted that before on her, it is a very nice bike but i just cant understand how that boost bottle works? The tube going into the bottle is in the middle of it, surely what goes in there isnt going to be able to come out, it will get a build up of fuel, which would then all tip out when the front wheel is in the air, it just seems really odd thats all. Im genuinely interested on how it works, if you can get any more info on it i would appreciate it.
  20. As a manager if one of my staff told me where to shove there traning they would be finding themselves on a disciplinary. Hows the TY going Andy, done anything else to it recently?
  21. If you get one, try and modernise it a bit, replace all the nuts and bolds with titanium ones, you could probably fit some modern wings inside the originals, and Boeing do a tuning kits for the engines, replacement barels, electrics etc, then it should be a bit more competative in Pre 45 bombing sections.
  22. Is that the bike thats pictured in this months Classic Dirt Bike, its very nice and nice to see a genuine old Trials bike.
  23. It should be, I cant see any reason why it wouldnt, there nothing to stop a trail bike entering is there? But it would need drum brakes, fork gaiters, an Amal carb and a James (or similar) badge if you wanted to enter Pre-65
