  1. Ron your right non comp is a bad idea for reasons you stated. Even though there is no club we used to have 6-8 riders from my area that tried to make one national per year. Now there is none That also means no one for us to ride together and split gas. Most of these riders say the same thing well John i may have ridden my last national. Here is the reasons stated. 1)$100 entry fee 2) 3 day format (older riders wore out on second day) 3) 2 events per year(making it further to dive) 4)land use fees 5)events held during school year 6)30 day advance notice or double the price 7)high price gas 8)The regional events in the area have became such good events and are such a value- riding more of them makes sense (btw everyone of there entries are last minute i should be doing a post praising their efforts instead of complaining) Maybe there is nothing to be done and back to my original topic something that was stated that everyone will agree with is that the $200 fee is to discourage late entries. My question is with the times ahead of us do they want to discourage any kind of entries
  2. Nearest club to me is 200 miles cost $120 for round trip at $.30 per mile plus 8 hrs driving Ive already booked motel for next event motel is 5 miles from event has indoor pool free breakfast for 2 whole family can stay for $52.
  3. Your post came in just as i was posting excellent idea. While were on the subject what constitutes a refund :injury funeral death ect or is it once you enter thats it.
  4. I realize there is a $200 late entry and thats x3 x 2 riders$1200 I cant afford that and if i pre enter and cant make it im out 300x 2 riders #600. Is there any intrest in making riding a nationall more affordable. It seems with additional entry fees, fewer nationals making it further to get to at least one national and high price gas the elite group that can afford a national may become too few in number.
  5. I dont know whether this forum is the best place to ask this question but since i am not a member of a club (nearest 4 hrs away) and dont have a natc represenitive maybe someone out there listiening might take this up What about a non compete national entry. The problem i have in my occupation im on call a lot and do not know a month in advance whether or not i can go to a national As with regional events i find out spur of the moment i can go. I understand trophies are the reason) for the month ahead notice with a non compete thats not a problem. With todays gas prices and extra entriy fees (hopefully a one year only thing and events during the school year ) it looks like attendence might dwindle. I kinda brought this up before and the only responce was well you just got to be committed to ride a national. Just thought id throw this out there maybe someone going to the meeting will think its a good idea
  6. Not much there just a short article the same as ttc printed 3 weeks ago saying full results and pictures would come soon. I personaly thought it was a pretty good event worthy of results, pic sand news coverage must be tech difficulties
  7. Its amazing to watch kids improve during the week there. Having other kids to ride with fantatic terrain several sections laid out to ride. We are at a big disadvantage compared to the world because our better youth have to drive 200 miles maybe further to be taught, pushed by an equal or better rider. and with gas prices up it is getting worse. Natural talent is great but their is no subsitute for time on the bike. Homer went thru 2 gallons of gas a day for 7 days during the first week and is at youth camp right now i imagine using 2 more per day for 5 more days thats 24 gallons in less than 2 weeks. I dont know if he used that much in the rest of last year and it shows. 6 months ago Ariel Winters rode the same line as me with double my score,. I could not of came close to her now. What an improvement. How did this come about. I asked her if she had been practicing her one word answer was Everyday. Chase Harker was mentioned he is surrounded by good rider mentors and it shows . The Mizzels have their own competition theirselves. Very impressive to watch David calmly address some problems he had with is bike and still win the last day.
  8. Turnout for the 0 line was good 10 riders from several states if i remember right finishing order was Florida Texas California California New Mexico Washington Missouri Texas Massachusetts Minnesota 7 of the 10 graduate this year I had a girl in the 3 line and one in the 4 line. The 3 line and the 4 line was almost the same the last 2 days i have no idea why looks like would toughen up 3 to challange our up and coming young riders .
  9. Between the Central Regional Series and a couple of other 2 days (tish and nebraska) 6 great events over a 9 week period. Wished we could ride them all. some real tough choices all should be great events Sept 6-7 Labor Day 2Day Tishomingo Ok Sept 20-21 Quarry Cup Trenton Mo Oct 4-5 El Famosa 2 day Munster Tx Oct 11-12 Cornhusker Cup Nehawka Ne Oct18-19 Octobertest Langley Ok Nov1-2 Flint Hills 2 day Douglass Ks
  10. cope do you know who or how many texas riders last year there were a bunch
  11. Looking back the last couple of years there is hardly any talk any moreabout trials. Very little about upcoming events nationals ect Trials comp is gone Mctrials is dead and this forum seems to have the political crap and bull that Lane used to put out without a lot of trials imput. Im not against tring to be funny but what happened to talking about trials. Next question do trials forums help the sport or hurt it? If it hurts it what can be done to change that?
  12. Chris over 2 grand thats unbelivable Glad that at least some are comming from California. Homer will be riding 0 line this year i figure there could be as many as 10 0 line riders pretty much representing every nook and corner of the USA.
  13. fuel being $4 instead of $2 only cost me only $120 extra for fuel with 3 kids riding thats just$13 per kid per day. My van and strange little trailer seats 8 hauls 5 bikes (i can actualy get 7bikes on it without any gear on a 5x10 trailer) plus a weeks gear and camping supplies and gets 19mpg. as a matter of fact the difference between youth national and national entry fees ($330 vrs $900) will buy the gas for the 1200 mile round trip and have $330 left over which will pay for 5 days cabin and still have money left over and also free tickets to maybe the best sporting event in the U.S. (except for the world round) the U.S. indoor championship. If anyone out there is considering the youth nationals and not made there mind up it is a great experience and fun for the whole family. Chris Im sure it computes differently for the 4000 mile round trip from California. you guys do such a wonderful job of suporting your youth how many are coming this year?
  14. brian $4 gas has limited our trips but not to the youth nats hoping to get there tuesday maybe wednesday we will have 3 riders this year as both girls are going to ride. Mr Fracey Looking foward to meeting you. New young riders are the key to the youth nationals as several will graduate this year and next. Hard to believe next year will be our last year (unless one of the girls get serious) seems like it was only last year we made our first trip not knowing what to expect this will be our fifth trip this year.

    Natc Entries ?

We tried to get a group of 4 together for Colorado no one was interested so we had to stay home. Total fuel cost for 1600 mi round trip $320 the new higher rider entry fee ($40x3x4riders) was $480. We might have been able to got a group together during the last week before the national as schedules worked out but then there would have been an additional $1200 for the 4 of us late entry fees. How about if you enter late your riding non compete at same entry fee and not eligiable for trophies? $40 seems more than fair for the club not sure about land fees but what about the other $60 does anyone know how it breaks down should be around 40 grand where does it go.
  16. Ive been letting advice soak in from this forum and others local in my area. Went to a bike shop in town yesterday whos owner operator is pro trials he has probly sold 20 used trials bikes in the last year seems there are way more riders or part time riders than i thought. He has been throwing out the idea that we need a club and land needs to be purchased 20 acres at 2000 / acre and divided over 40 yrs =1000 per member per life. Lands a little higher than that and even though were in the Ozarks it probably would need to be more than 20 acres unless it was a good rock quarry. He also mentioned that trials riders have recently been fined $120 for riding off the trail at our local national forest (Chadwich) which is the main riding spot for 75% of the riders. Ill keep everybody posted to how things are going and keep sending more advice btw Alan i hope it works out for you to make the youth nationals they wont be the same without the Bechard family
  17. chris I checked into AMA it wasnt too expensive but not sure how it would work for 8-10 riders starting out. Also for the first timer membership could be a problem. Alan havent heard from you in long time are you still busy with the remodeling? A fun Event sounds like a good idea as a starter that could lead to more events. Since most of the riders here have been to many events many none were short section help. There is an enduro club here and that might be something to explore.
  18. Im looking into starting a club or at least maybe getting together to try an event dont know which needs to happen first the club or the event. In sw missouri their are about 40 maybe 50 modern trials bikes within a 50 mile radius the nearest club is 200 miles and there are a total of 6 clubs within 300 miles hardly anyone goes anywhere to compete they just get together and ride as each individuals schedule allows Questions i have Renting land there is an old quarry which i am tring to locate the owners over 1 million tires burned for over 3 weeks 5 years ago and no one claimed it for years prior and after but recently it was purchased for back taxes. It is not posted and no problem riding there but for an event we would probably need a rental agreement. Would a per head fee be the best way to approach?? Insurance does anyone know of a insurance company? also if the land owner doesnt request it do we need insurance. I heard of a club that lost their land because the land owner agent threatened to cancel his farm liability insurance if he allowed any more events. Does farm liability cover injuries during an event? What about liabilty of individual club officers? Several of the riders in our are ride more on Saterday than Sunday wanting a day to recoup before going back to work? anyone try Saterday events is the turn out any good? I thought about starting by having an unoffical event a fun ride where we taped sections no entry fee no trophies maybe we could get 10-15 together score ourselves and go home. If so how many lines 3 enough novice something in the middle and expert? btw there was an active club here 15 years ago advice anyone?

    Beta 50 Oil

just bought my daughter beta rev50 2003 model clutch bike anyone know how many cc of oil and what wt of oil?
  20. I dont think it is quite accurate to compare Smage and Bou at the same age. Pat hasnt had the opportunities In the US we have a trial a couple hours away once a month vrs what in Spain? Pat had to ride in a barn in the winter months how cold is it in Spain. Pat has no World Champ or former World Champ to look up to train with. He started riding when he i think he was 11 and at age 12 was and still is the youngest to win the U.S. youth nationals was riding the top adult national at 15 and US champ at 16 as well as picking up a few 125 world wins. He has defied the odds so far and i dont see why that wont continue. To think that he is nothing special because he lost by one point is crazy also to think that he would not benifit from someone of Jordis calibers training is crazy Leave the kid young man alone and i dont think anyone will be disapointed.
  21. Great Event to be at. 85 riders on the loop with what? 50 acres and absolutly no bottle necks. Well organized great hospitality( from the food to the checkers to the workers at the tables) spectator friendly pro classes and timely results with loop scores HATS OFF TO THE TEXAHOMA CLUB Anyone got pics?
  22. Are there any results of the lower classes.? We had to leave before they were posted
  23. I started to write a big long speel about how good this event was but i couldnt do it justice. Great Event, Great Oklahoma hospitality, This event well worth the gas money.
  24. Here in the US watching someone else do something is a big deal My brother bought a box of 12 tickets for the entire year at the new sprint center kc mo. He sold tickets to Garth Brooks for over $500 per seat. The Big 12 basketball tournament (one of 20 tournament across the U.S that is played before the ncaa tournament) Thursday thru Sunday 11 games for $2000 per seat. Now compare that to the world round $50 for 4 days and it makes it hard to complain about the gas. An indoor series would be great I went to last years indoor event and it was great. I wonder if the person who is just introduced to the sport if they wouldnt prefer the indopor national over the world round simply because you can see it all from one seat and eat pizza.
