    Damaged Clutch Boss

Thanks for the replies, I would never have guessed that, wonder what their thinking was when they decided to do that? Maybe they knew ham fisted home mechanics like me would get our hands on it so they designed it to be easily repaired!!!! I have the old ones and know a decent enineer so will ask him to make me some new ones. Thanks for the link to ebay I might bid on that to see if they do fit. That chap also has the gearbox internals which might cure the original problem as well. I did find a few bits of metal (see pic below) and was a little concerned about where they had come from, I thought they might have come from the lock tab which was a bit butchered.
  3. Just stripped the engine down to find out what is causing it to drop out of first gear when not under load and found the above. So I have a couple of questions: 1. Is it worth the time/risk trying repair? 2. Are clutch bosses still available? Also, are any of the 125/200 engine parts interchangeable? Cheers John
  4. Thanks for the replies fella's, I think I will head over there on the Saturday.
  5. Is the above show at Telford worth a visit? I live near Cheltenham so it isn't too far. Cheers John

Really nice resto job. I will be starting mine soon but I doubt it will look as good as yours. I don't suppose you would have a picture of where/how the chain tensioner attaches to the frame? Cheers John
  8. Hi, Does anyone have a picture of the chain tensioner and where it attaches to the frame? Cheers
  9. I have a fantic 200 which has Bultaco front wheel and forks fitted. I have managed to get a set of Fantic 200 forks and wheel. All I need now is the spindle and any spacers if required. Does any one know where I can get said items from? Cheers John
  10. My bike has a Bultaco front end that I would like to replace with Fantic parts. My question is where would I be able to purchase the required parts (wheel, mud guard and forks) as Evil bay has not come up with anything. And also will later model parts fit the original yolks? Cheers
  11. I have just finished tidying my Monty 123 so thought I would put up a couple of pics: And what it looked like to start with: I've got a Fantic 200 tucked away in the garage that needs a little tlc but going to have to sell the Mont first.
  12. Yes finally got it working. I had put a washer on the output shaft next to the bearing before fitting the clutch basket. It should not have been there and when I tightened the nut on the the clutch the washer tightened on the shaft stopping it from rotating independantly from the basket. Removed washer and bingo fully working clutch, don'y know why I put that washer on there in the first place. Bike is now finished and not sure what to do with it, thinking of selling it but not sure of it's value. Will put a picture up in another thread.
  13. I have rebuilt my 123 and it starts and runs fine but there is black oily residue leaking from the exhaust. Is this a jetting problem? Cheers John
  14. Try Jared at the following: http://www.southwestmontesa.com/
  15. To finish my rebuild i need the 2 thrust washers that sit behind the clutch basket. I have contacted BVM in Stroud but the parts have come up as NLA. I do not have the originals so can some one tell me the dimensions of these 2 washers? Cheers John
  16. I have managed to strip the clutch and replace the bearing. I now have another problem, the clutch is back on the bike and appears to operate OK but does not disconnect the drive All the gears select in order both up and down the box and the plates ar not stuck together. Any info would be greatly received. Cheers John
  17. Thanks for the replies, I was thinking about generally tidying the bike up over next winter but as it would seem I've got to split the cases I might as well do the rest as well.
  18. I was hoping for some pointers before I stripped it, it's definatley something I wouldn't want to do on crutches!!
  19. I have just bought a Fantic 200 which keeps popping out of first gear. Can anyone shed any light on what the problem might be? Cheers
  20. I have replaced the bearing in the clutch basket and refitted it to the bike but the clutch will now not disengage the drive. The actuating arm moves, the clutch operates and the clutch plates are not stuck together. Does anyone have any idea what I have done wrong? Cheers John
  21. The bearing in the clutch basket needs changing so I have removed the clutch basket from the bike but I am unable to strip the clutch down any further. Does anyone know what the tool used to compress the clutch to enable the pins to be removed looks like? I have had a tentative go using a vice but I do not want to damage anything. Cheers John
  22. Will give that a go. Cheers John
  23. I have rebuilt the bike and she fired up 2nd kick but The clutch will not disengage. I have tried putting it into a high gear and rocking and have even ridden it round holding the rear brake but with no success. I have taken the clutch case off and everything seems to be in place. When I pull the lever in there is a fair bit of resistance as though the clutch springs are being compressed. Any ideas will be gratefully received. Cheers John
  24. Put the bike back together yesterday and she fired up 2nd kick. Just need to finish sorting and painting tank/seat unit then I can take her for a spin.
  25. Thanks for the advice fella's, I now have a spark. Ihad to take the engine out of the frame and clean up the mounting points so that there would be a decent earth. Found this out from Southwest Montesa. Cheers
