No he did not, my guess is there are only standard models and for red route I suspect the sy f is underpowered.

I think you lot are completely missing the point , don't add a 125 class make all the youngsters ride 125cc and no 250cc till they are 18 simple.
The 125 cc class doesn't exist so why would it be anything but small???

It isn't an issue really as there has always been the four youth classes for a very long time, 20 years????
What has changed (in Britain) and it was/is being phased in /out is the limit of youth riders to 125cc, and as Perce clearly states above 250cc is allowed for the very lasy time this year for over 15 year olds in the A class.
However this class is poorly supported and the riders not as proficient as the 125cc riders in fact at the first 2 nationals the first 3 finishers were all ahead on less marks on 125cc. I believe that all these riders have world and european ambitions and as such will be restricted to 125cc until 18 by UEM and FIM rules.
The idea of changing at a slow rate (acu trying to be helpful) , much slower than the Spanish or French I think has hindered one or two riders, in fact Lee Sampson Sherco had a 250 for a while but has chosen to stick pretty much exclusively this year on a 125cc so he feels it helps his riding at wtc and euro level as switching between 125 and 250 is not the best way to getting the best from a 125cc rider and machine.
I don't for a minute presume to begin to understand the American system but one thing is for sure if you look at what a good lad (fair few british to choose from) on a 125 can do at sequatchie I think you will be amazed.Then add a few years experince and then let him tackle the bigger stuff on a bigger bike and surely logic tells you that if you are raga and have to wring the neck on a 300cc factory machine to get up the really big WTC section stuff then surely the ground work of doing the same with a 125cc at 16/17/18 will help rather than hinder?
I do not subscribe to the theory that a bigger bike that makes a section easier is good for the learning process.
All the lads at last weeks YWTC in portugal were "on the limit" of what the bikes would do. Isn't that what it will always be like at the top level? I could almost gaurentee that all the top 6 in Spain and Portugal would have had a better result on a 250cc, so to me it is the right way to progress.
Back in the USA it would take a great deal of long sightedness for any parent to have the faith that one day his boy would benefit from staying on a smaller cc bike when the rules allow and the sections are easier on such a machine. Also coming into play would be sponsorship, if an importer wants a winner why would he allow a 125cc to be used?

saw one on the blue route in the wtc portugal seemed good and pretty well sorted. Understand there are some destined for Scotland should be interesting

Keep up lane the Scorpa 250 4t is out aswell this week so until you've seen it in the sections don't be hasty to say its better than or worse.

Looks standard s/a modified. Wheel base the same head angle unchanged as ithe front down tube hits the front stay as is.

Perhaps Alan you should reserve judgement on the 125 clas for under 18's until you have seen what thry do at the TTC this year?
Having too many classes is easily sorted just take the british model on board, age and increase in cc go hand in hand, phase these changes in and hey presto you yanks fall into line with the rest of the world and then you have no reason not to challenge for wtc honours.

Mine was a reg may one and dave R may be able to confirm it or otherwise but from what I understand Mick Whitlock only did one batch of swinging arms say 50 or so? My other post shows the reg conversion by comerfords which was done utilising the whitlock s/a and modified top shock mount, where this differs from digglers is that the airbox is not modified at all, Vesty/reg modified his bike quite a few times and were not bothered about chopping an airbox about they had spares. In fact the most radical one (comerfords/vesty) had the exhaust exiting above the swinging arm and the airbox chopped about to make room for a silencer.

Pretty sure its a copy, think the swining arm is modified original and the pivot point is definately forward.

That would be good. I feel a well sorted 340 is a winner with Dirk Diggler on board. Swinging arm looks stadard, exhaust is a vesty copy close up of swinging arm pivot and top shock mouting please?

Yep only got to see a little, but no one was trying section 5 as they had taken the straw bales and ropes.
haven't looked at the front page but Ross danby got a very strong second today and Alexz was third after a poor ( by his standards) first lap.
2 laps of his second one and he will be happy.

No, to change the swinging arm wouldn't have been cheating.
SSDT and WTC are very different, and in open discussion as I said before, again IMHO, one is not the same as the other.
Anyway back on topic the young lads look on it here in portugal the sections are wet and slippery so heres hoping that Ross gets a bit of luck go his way and the youths get 123 and stuff it up Johnny foreigner. Browny can win again and dabill top ten would make this trip more than worthwhile.

I dont think that introducing the SSDT is particularily relevent to the discussion here.
however to change a swinging arm within the constraints of the time limt of 2 hours for a complete lap of 17k and havig the top lads around aswell would have been impossible in the extereme IMHO. Apart from that, as the swinging arm is not a marked part it is perfectly acceptable to change it.

consequently I have seen a swinging arm changed this ek and reckon with practice and shortcuts its a 40 min job in the workshop/awning, hiding in the woods, with minders tools? Do the math as they say.

Alwys ran my Shercos on 75;1 with great results, not the riding though!
