  1. depending on how far your willing to travel there's dalton wood's near croft or charltons near guisborough but i would agree with the other's you would benefit more going to a event and watching how others do it get talking to a couple of riders tell them your new to it they will give you advise and help you out. most of us are there just to enjoy it and are always willing to help out new starters.
  2. yep you got them all spot on there. i wish i could rememmber names like that. were all still involved with m/bro club and me and mick are riding more often now with a bloke called kenny bunn (and two names you might know) steve and bill currie. just spoke to the old dear on the phone and she remembered you and your dad.
  3. dont know about peter his mam and dad connie and derek are still in the shop a bit it was my brother who rode round about that time so i showed him the pic but only came up with the names you already know my mam was youth secratery for middlesbrough motor club and my dad club captain at that time so they might remmember a few there on hol's at the mo when they get back ill ask em.
  4. grangefield mate not far from sainsburys. one of the lads i ride with also has a 300 pro not really had any prob's with mine so far touch wood.
  5. david clark still ride's he does the guisborough summer series, and he still has the family bike shop in eaglescliff, he look's a little different now a days though.
  6. that's great thankyou very much i will check up on the lakes 2 day that's only about a 3 too 4 hour drive so perfect and hopefully get a ride at the manx next year maybe see you there. ta paul.
  7. Thanks it's a good start and the type of thing were looking for is the club championship a closed to club event or open.
  8. i live in the north east of england and me and a few mate's would like some idea's of good trial's to ride around the country idealy a two day trial on a bank holiday with camping permited to make a weekend of it or a good one lapper but any suggestion's would be great. there will be about 5 to 8 of us all of clubmen ability so nothing really hard but a good challenge would be welcomed. i have heard about a two day event at the isle of man and another at the isle of mull (balamory territory i think) could these be rode on our acu licenses or would we need the relevent license of that governing body. any info would be appreciated. we all ride modern bike's and the youngest is under forty so pre 65 twin shok over forty only trials are out im afraid. Thanks for any help paul w.
  9. i have the stone 2 diadora and first time out they were a bit uncomortable but spot on now as said by others the boots leak but the inner sock is totaly waterproof and go all the way to the top of the boot and velcro on to let water in it has to go right over the top of the boot and i got the same size as i would a normal shoe because of the inner sock i only wear a pair of normal thin sock's with them and never felt cold but i would recomend trying a pair on before you buy for size. they have scuffed up a bit and i have had no problem with grip with them i think there spot on and not a bad price really. paul
  10. i think competing is fun there's nothing better than getting one over on your mate's or finally beating that rider you have been chasing for year's (even if he is 80 now). i think if winning becomes your only goal the fun can die a little but that's maybe just me i love to be on the bike and for me a proper event will alway's have that edge over practise. but must admit still dont like being watched by the pack on that first section dont think i ever will.
  11. thank you there's a few of us work together to get the sections right but there had to be some last second tweeking because of the rain but in the end i think the rain made the trial. as clark of the course i would like to thank the lad.s who helped set out with me mike, steve, bill, dylan. and a big thankyou to all observers and rider's who turned up on a pretty rotten night for a trial that seemed to go down a storm. and i know it was a small entry but everyone finnished the trial no retirement's at all so well done lad's and i hope to see you there again next year. THANK paul.w
  12. middlesbrough and district motor club's trial at beak hill's this week end will be run with dual section's (clubman A & B ) in the past this event has been one route and every one did the same this made it a bit tricky for the new starters so the sections this year will have clubman A & B route's it will be the perfect event for anyone thinking of trying the move up from B into A as it wont be really hard a few stinkers to find a winner and give the better rider's a challenge. the nock on effect is the B class can be eased off to make this a great trial for beginner's but again a couple of tricky one's to take marks. it will be 4 laps of 10 sections and starts at 6 on saturday 12th of july the venue itself is easy to walk round so if you get there at about 5 you could walk most of it and deside which class you would like to ride. youth A & B are also welcome. parking was a problem here but we have the use of a new field which should help to solve this but if you can car share please do so as the buck inn car park's not very big (for the after trial pint). to get there take the stokesly to helmsley road and turn off at the buck inn at chop gate on the road to carlton in cleveland it will be flaged from this point. I hope to see you there.
  13. the benefit of a modern bike is that they are fairly light so when you do get stuck there a lot easier to drag out of a hole. and with trials there's always someone willing to help drag you out and shout support. there's a few of us do the trials together youngest 34 eldest 60 and when belting bettween the sections you would never tell the difference and experience can really make up for youth at time's the elders will paddle a 3 while the younger lad's go for the clean and crash out. mind you ive watched the bloke of 60 master a monster section leaving me with my jaw on the floor and the word's oh s**t in my mind.

    Clutch Cover

that's great and aye im a north east lad. the crack is right next to the bolt so it look's like a new one will be needed. Thanks lads.
  15. this is a topic that might of been on here before if so sorry. but i was at a trial at the weekend where a observer took a mouth full of abuse from a rider. to me this just aint on yes sometimes you think they get it wrong (sometimes they DO get it wrong) but shouting swearing and acting like a prat wont change that the only thing it will do is potentionally stop that person doing the job again. I know how hard it is at some event's to get all the observers you need and beleive me it can be a pain in the back side. every rider reading this who has give up his ride to let the event go on will know exactly what i mean. so next time you think the observer got it wrong dont shout and swear have a calm rational talk or better still get back on yer bike naff off and enjoy the rest of your day coz i will bet good money there's some bloke there with a board in his hand gutted because he hasn't got the chance to do so. or better still observe yer bloody self next time.
