  1. I would give Kev at GasGas UK a ring, or maybe the slave cylinder seals have swelled making its operation stiff???

I had an 06 250 and the clutch was fine so you shouldnt need different master cylinders or hoses.

  2. Ive got an 08 Beta with rusty mains!! I always run for a while after washing, obviously not long enough!!!

I was wondering which 2 stroke oil you use? I have been using Ipone strawberry flavour stuff which is a tenuous link to Sherco as Ipone is the recomended oil for Shercos :moon:

  3. 'Tis true. I have to be a man and stand up and say Nick took the honour!

On the easy route he lost 19 marks to come 8th; I lost 54 on the red route to come 6th, but there were more riders in Nick's class and he rode the last 2 laps for just one mark; a performance only matched by the class winner.

I will of course, be magnanimous in defeat.

Excuse me why I go and cry like a girl!

Thats no defeat! Nick rode the girlie course!!!

  4. Hi,

Just fitted some Hebo pegs to my 08 250 and looking side on they are sloping down at the front! probably about 5 degrees although it doesnt sound much you can feel that youre riding on the back edge of the pegs a bit. I will see how they feel tomorrow

I have compared them to the original Beta pegs and there is a difference in the angle of the bracket and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this? or can you buy pegs with different angled brackets???

I would also be interested in how much you are looking for a set.

Have you had them in place long and what are your findings?

    Hi,

I have only had them in for a few days, the clutch is lighter and seems to work OK. I will know better after the weekend!!!

  6. The standard spring cap is just a flat washer so the top of the spring is level with the top of the posts in the clutch centre basket, my caps are stepped so the springs are compressed 3mm less so they have less pre load making the clutch lighter. I think this makes sense at this late hour!!! :D

Simpley the springs arent squashed as mutch!!!

  7. Having read the above, I have made some new spring caps that act as 3mm (0.120 inch) shims on the springs. I now have a lighter cluch that even looks better!!! (only when in bits though!!).

Is there a market for these? so i can make my fortune!! :D

  8. Just tried my new (to me) 08 250 today without the flywheel weight, it seems quite a bit livelier more like my old Gasgas 250 (with a weight on!).

As the bike is sold with the weight fitted is it part of the whole package of a well balanced controllable bike with good traction?

Should we be tampering with a good proven setup just because it feels better, or more like what I was used to? :D

  9. after loads of hunting iv finally got another bike!!! 6 month old '08 250.

really like it but its my first beta, do any of you beta veterans have any recommended mods or tweeks???

Snap, I have just done the same! It looks good but I have yet to ride it in anger!!

  10. Just got a mint 08 250!! I hope I like it as much as my last 2 GasGas's!!!

Ant tips? Its done about 6 easy trials and is as new!!

I hope JLI are as good as Shirty as his service is 100% or perhaps I wont need anything?!?! :D

  11. IKB what would you say was the difference between them?

    Here goes

Back suspension either too harsh or too bouncy Hard work over the moors (I some times wonder if my shock was faulty)

Engine a bit agricultural easy to damage clutch covers

Gear ratios just too wide in 4th n 5th for flying over the moors

    Clutch was a bit savage

But reliable but not brilliant to work on.

I just found it hard work to ride on long Trials

Much happier on a 06 Gasgas but they do need looking after but are easy to work on (much practiced!!)
