  1. It comes with the bike. No need to buy it seperately. Not sure if it's the best place to store your butties, they may get jostled.
  2. I will put my best man on it.
  3. MAV-TV is running the FIM World Championships both Inddor and Outdoor. So far I have seen Corsica, Australia, Italy.... Outdoors plus the full X-Trial series. This is the biggest exposure our sport has ever had in the US. Spread the word. I realize not everyone gets MAV TV but most companies will add it for just a few more $. Please take a moment and send MAV TV a thank you. The feedback they get is very important. Here i s a link: http://www.mavtv.com/shows/fim-x-trial-world-championship.html Also here is a 30 sec video that will run on the big screen at the upcoming Atlanta Endurocross. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMfGf3G9gpY&feature=player_detailpage Thanks to Shan Moore, Trials & Enduro News, Source Interlink and Eric Peronnard.
  4. Cope is right, the DellOrto is a great carb. Get some higher Octane fuel and/or bump up one on the pilot jet. The 315R wants good gas. Cope not sure where you got the idea that only 7 were sold that year, maybe only 7 sold in your club. We sold over 200 315's in 2004. Not sure how one bike could be considered that last one imported as they came in shipments with 24 bikes per container.
  5. What you describe happens when you are not running a "resistor" type spark plug. What plug are you running? It must have an "R" in it's designation. NGK BR6ES is what you want.
  6. The exact opposite of the truth. Agree or not with the rule changes, that is your opinion, but to say they don't care about the sport is wrong.
  7. Looking at the schedule below you can see clearly that there is a possibility to try something new. Please answer this question: IF there was an East and West Championship offered would it be something you might do rather than stay home and do none? In 2014 the West would be CO & KS and East would be PA & TN. In 2015 East would be OH & NE and West would be CA & AZ. 4 of 4 rounds would count for either East or West championships. The overall NATC Championships would remain in place and unchanged meaning 5 of 8 would count for the overall series Championships. 2014 Mototrial National Schedule Date Location Host Club May 24, 25, 2014 Texas Creek, CO RMTA May 31, June 1, 2014 Sedan, KS AVTA June 21, 22, 2014 Tremont, PA Rausch Creek June 28, 29, 2014 Sequatchie, TN STRA 2015 Mototrial National Schedule Date Location Host Club May16, 17, 2015 Toronto, OH Trials Inc. 8. Mr. Schrauber, I would love to see the book by Felix. He had a very good trials mind and was a world class rider as well as a being a very good fellow. I believe you have the author of the Bernie and Leavitt books confused. The author was journalist Len Weed. I feel that the Bernie book is much more detailed of the two and explains riding concepts in much more detail. I still have many copies for sale. All proceeds go to support the US TdN Team. Martin
  9. the "Bernie Book" is still available here. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/42740-team-u-s-a-trial-des-nations-fund-raiser-2012/page__hl__%2Bbernie+%2Bbook
  10. Hi Natorme, you may need to replace your clutch plates, after all they may be the originals, 16 years old and have been subjected to who knows what kind of abuse and oil changes.
  11. The rider that will finally beat Bou is most likely 5 years old and rides an Oset.
  12. I think you misread me too Nige. I said "On Sunday by lap 2 section 3" ........meaning at section 3 of lap 2... ....
  13. Congrats to Toni Bou for tying Doug's streak of 7 consecutive World Titles. Congrats to Adam Raga for pushing him right to the end. The Montesa boys all agree it has been a very tough year. It was closer than most realize. After Saturday's result Raga 1st Bou 3rd the lead had been cut in half (5pts). On Sunday by lap 2 section 3: Bou 5th Cabes 4th Raga & Fajardo tied for 2nd and Dabil winning! At this point Raga had the WTC in his grasp. Only a stong finish by Bou and a few errors by Raga on the last lap changed the outcome.
  14. Team USA has arrived in La Chatre France. Tomorrow (thursday) will be a busy day collecting their bikes, fighting jet lag, practice, tech inspection, sign up etc... Friday: final round Women's World Championship Saturday: Women's TdN Sunday: Men's TdN Monday: fly home You can wish them luck on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/USATrialDesNations?hc_location=stream
  15. Agreed Chuck and Steve we all got into this because it was fun. I have always said about Trials that " there is no fame, money or women so it had better be fun"
  16. I agree that getting the section difficulty right on the Pro sections is critical and some times organizers get it wrong. But there is another factor that no one talks about. Riders that are not ready for Pro. We have lost some potential top riders because they jumped up to Pro before they were ready....... got their bikes and their butts beat up and quit. I realized that these young riders are gung ho but they also are deaf to the warnings that they receive. When I said "You don't like punching out on most of the sections? then move down a class" I was not expressing an overall attitude, I was offering advise to one rider. Setting sections for the Pros has become nearly impossible in areas of high traction. They have the same problems at the world level. One suggestion is to have the Pro riders and Organizers look at the sections the day before the event and make adjustments. Everybody wants to get this right.
  17. http://www.mototrial...12412-Final.pdf From the NATC website. Supplemental rules Section G "Minders" also here under rules updates: http://www.mototrial...update_2013.pdf 6) Minder must sign all required release form and wear approved riding apparel at all times. 7. Minder must abide by all non-competition rider rules. Minders are only allowed in the Sections when their riders are attempting a section or as otherwise allowed by the observer. I don't see where it says that riders must wear a helmet while walking the section. You may have a point there. I have seen it both ways. Misunderstanding or not knowing the rules is something that both riders and observers are guilty of. and yes we are reviewing the NATC rule book. Yes, it is a tough road being a Pro rider. But stop for a moment and step outside yourself. I checked both days in AZ with 2 great guys. All 3 of us had spent hundreds of $$$ and traveled many miles to stand in the woods and check and that is NOTHING compared to the work and $$ put in by the organizers. Why do it ? Because we love Trials. Over the 2 days checking in AZ only one minder asked permission to enter the section. A couple always stayed outside the ribbon and the rest just walked through the section until told to get out. NATC is just a bunch of volunteers just like any local club. It's easy to criticize and over the years I have been a part of NATC and at the same time critic of the way things are done. The good news is that there is new blood at NATC and I am optimistic about the future. One thing I love about the way NATC is run that if you criticize something then you need to be ready to man up with a solution and fix it. Yes a lot needs to be improved but these are the people that step up and DO THE WORK. The fact is that this sport runs on volunteer power. Should there be professional observers, big Pro purses, big $$ sponsors and TV coverage, of course. You don't like punching out on most of the sections ? then move down a class. Sorry to be so direct but that's the way I see it.
  18. Here is a link to another KS thread: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/46027-montesa-king-scorpion/ Your bike looks to be in fair shape. What's going on with the kick starter? broken spring? They are great bikes. Give it a little TLC and she'll be right. KS parts come up on ebay from time to time. Not to discourage you, but your front wheel and fork legs are not Montesa parts. They look Japanese. The triple clamps are original Montesa parts. Grab the serial number and visit Montesaweb.com to find out more about your KS. Welcome to the KS club. Martin
  19. Very important numbers Chris, thanks for the firsthand perspective. Going to Duluth and back will add about 4200 miles to your total, putting you close to 17,000 miles for the season. 15,000 miles is an unofficial average for an NATC year. Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. There were some very good insights, stuff that will help improve the series.
  20. Trials was at 7000'. Cool temps. Don't think we hit 80 all weekend. I understand that its too far from the east coast but the turn out was low from CA, NM and CO. I'm trying to figure out what we can do to improve participation by those that are less than a days drive away.
  21. The Central Arizona Trials (CAT) put on a first class National this past weekend. Great organization, terrain and section were tops, only 4.5 hours from LA, cool 70 deg days and occasional thunderstorms, I thought I was in Colorado. BUT..... the turn out was low. Only 65 riders. It would be good to know why turnout for western Nationals is low. Please give us your opinion. Martin
  22. The kick starters on 348 and 247 Cotas are strong. There is no weakness. The problem Slogger described happens when people install the KS lever rotated too far forward. The lever should be installed at the 2 o'clock position.

  24. Sorry hendrik, you have been told a very old Fairy Tale. I too have heard it . It is nonsense. ....and NO they are not leaving Trials.
