  1. Sorry if I sound harsh. My attitude is directed toward the Trialworld website, not you. The article is just speculation. Andy, does a great job here at TC of only posting info that is credible. I wish TW would do the same.
  2. Bou has already signed for 2 more years. Cabes has re-signed with Sherco. The article speculates that Raga and Fajardo will stay put, which is likely....... . It's a non-story.
  3. Dabster has it right. 6 more. IF he can learn the secret of Fuji's longevity and barring other factors, injury and financial.
  4. Pete, the older Montesa forks will stick if the bike sits unused for a period of time. Dissimilar metals reaction may be the cause. I have found this in many old Montesas. Some cases are worse than others. Time is the main factor. Sometimes all the piston needs is a light sanding. I have seen others that required new psitons. My method of removal is to drive them out with a wooden broomstick and mallet.
  5. Wrong Sparky. NATC: http://mototrials.us/hall-of-fame AMA: http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/search.aspx
  6. How is it possible that Marland is in neither the NATC or AMA Hall of Fame?! I submitted his nomination to both organizations several years ago. 5 National titles must not be enough to get in.
  7. Marland's result in Washington made him the 6th youngest rider to ever podium. One place ahead of Doug Lampkin by 9 days. 1. Manuel Soler 16 yrs 11 mo 24 days 2. T. Fujinami 17 yrs 4 mo 12 days 3. T Ahvala 17 yrs 9 mo 21 days 4. M Colomer 17 yrs 9 mo 21 days 5. K Kuroyama 17 yrs 10 mo 23 days 6. M Whaley 18 yrs 22 days 7 D Lampkin 18 yrs 31 days It's not really a fair list because the rules changed from 18 to 16 years old and then back to 18 as a minimum.
  8. No I wasn't there. I was in Spain. Len Weed was the best. Great article. It wasn't Griffitts. It was Guguliemeli with the onion farm.
  9. You are dreaming Sileo.....but that bike was in Kramit's garage.

  11. The fight for second will surely come down to the final day in the UK. Only a 14 point gap between 2nd thru 5th. My money is on Fajardo. My heart is with Fuji. Sixteen year old Jorge Casales 2nd in Junior. Impressive.
  12. Sileo! nice to hear from you. how you been? Yes, making sure the markers are well placed is gonna be more worked for the section setters, just what they need.
  13. Nice bike Chris. It looks to be a survivor in good nick. Yes it is the 124th Cota MK1 built. It still has the original "Mikolor" clamps on the air boot. The muffler appears to be off a Bultaco Sherpa T the one we called Kit Campeon. It my still be useable to a Bultaco owner.
  14. In the days before the So Cal National the NATC Sporting Steward spent a lot of time with our guys adjusting the sections. His input from was very valuable and welcome.
  15. All good info Bob except for the part about internal tape. Basically.......Tape is Tape FIM rules say contact with the tape is treated the same when used for section boundry or as part of an internal split. NATC is the same and this was clarified before the So Cal National. Last year the first few FIM rounds had trouble with this rule just like we are having now, but its working better for them now. I had my doubts at first. Sort of like the cure being worse that the disease. We all know the marker should not be the obstacle. but we've all seen splits trampled and shreded until they fail and some poor guy gets a five when it finally falls. It will require more caution when setting sections. also contact with some splits will be hard for the observer to see. We need to make our split cards smaller. We need to use as few splits as necessary. I think it is something we can learn. ......and this story about the 5 for a card blown over by exhaust is very doubtful. I'll ask our observers if anyone knows anything about this.
  16. They are speaking Catalan, not Spanish.
  17. http:// http:// Gentlemen, the square exhaust tip (on the right and on bottom) came on the first 500 units as did the IRZ carb. The flatter wider tip came after bike 21M0500.
  18. Chris, the old style filter did not mount to the frame, the only attachment point was at the carb.. It was screwed on to the carb intake. The flange was threaded and that was it. It looks like your flange is missing the threads and has 2 notches in it that shouldn't be there. The rest of the filter is correct. The 2 clamps are the "Mikalor" brand also. As for the later style filter the mounting bracket was not there for the first few years of this style, it came later. Both were good. You may also find that the rubber elbow form the old one is too short to be used with the new filter. The newer style had a longer one. If my memory is correct...... Either way hang onto the old one someone will want it.
  19. Chris, based on age, the first filter is correct for your motor. The second one is correct for your frame. I need the first one and I have the second one ( in good nick) and would be willing to trade you, only obstacle is the cost of postage.
  20. Hi Chris, are you sure the fork is bent and not just stuck? The reason I ask is that older Montesa forks can become stuck if the bike sits un-used for a long time. The bushing at the end of the damper rod "swells" and becomes stuck. If so, drain the oil, then unscrew the allen bolt at the bottom of the lower fork leg and pull the fork apart. The damper rod will be sticking out the bottom of the upper fork tube. Next remove the top fork tube nut and spring. If its is not stuck the damper rod will easily come out the top, otherwise you will need to push it out. I use an old broom stick and mallet. You will need to have the offending bushing turned down to re-fit.
