  1. HI yes thanks that does help, not even seen flywheel yet so knowing it uses three 8mm holes to pull it off makes it easier to tackle if needs be, have enough pullers etc and threaded bar/long m8 set screws to sort that out, will have a look and see if flywheel has been done. re tappet clerances, any idea what they should be ? also have stripped carb cos mine was cough stalling, suspected accelerator pump not working and found that the spring for diaphragm could be used for the suspension, now this is pretty critical on strength and length to get carb working properly, too weak and it will squirt fuel all the time making it run miles too rich whenever throttle is opened, too strong (like the bodge on mine) and it wont work at all, anyone any idea where I can get correct strength spring (and new diaphragm if possible) from.
  2. want to know tappet clerances on my 175, does anyone know them or do you use same as the 125 yam engines, also curious about cylinder head on 163 engine, does it have same valve sizes as 125 ? help appreciated. ps what flywheel extractor do we use, gonna pull flywheel and check weight to see if it is lightened or not (might be obvious when I see it)
  3. what title says, does anyone know if theft only insurance is available anywhere, getting a bit paranoid about possibility of theft. help appreciated

    SY175 PARTS

anyone know if any other throttle or choke cables will fit the 175 bikes, must be something that is interchnageable or should I just order from Birketts. Thanks
  5. Well, I got myself one, mine is a 163cc (cylinder stamped 200 ??!!) racing spec one with the 250 type suspension and the magura hydraulic clutch, also road registered and came with a long ride seat and spare tank and front mudguard (both in blue so if I ever get the inclination to change colour I am all set !) rode it first time at weekend, was very happy with it, gonna have a look at carb and see what has been done to it as I have a bit of the old tlr cough stall problem, I would have thought this would not happen as carb appears to have an accelerator pump on it, anyone else have this cough stall problem ? also anyone know where you can get the Mitani front pipe (is it still available anywhere?) as mine is a bit rusty and would prefer a new one rather than blast and paint the exisiting one. thanks for any help. also how can I tell if flywheel has been lightened, is it a matter of taking it off and weighing it ? what flywheel extractor do I need.

    What carb

best post yet on the TY175/200 issue, could not agree more with you, I raced a TZ350E back in the day, and glad you said the 200 is rightly lusted after, I have been prusuing this avenue for a while with lots of negative comments about the 200 being worse than a 175 (171 actually if memory serves), and have always said that a bigger capacity engine, especially when looking for some more torque, will always out perform a smaller one, if and this is the big one, if it is done right.
  7. HI mine is a 07 (yellow one at the moment) so might be in luck Thanks
  8. Just a quickie, where is best place to get parts for Scorpa 175 ? I want some decals and engine gasket set, it is a 163cc engine. Thanks I assume it is Birketts but am in Wakefield so wondered if anyone keeps any stock nearer to me.
  9. looks like a good pre 65 bantam to me, trouble is it does not have a big capacity much modified engine, no billet yokes no gas gas forks hidden inside the bsa sliders, no titanium bits, no
  10. I have no idea, cannot find advert, how much is it going for I may be interested myself, if you want it then first come first served, would not tread on toes but have been considering a bantam for pre 65 trials for a while now.

    What carb

I know that they fit the 250 piston by bushing the small end down to the 175 size gudgeon pin, I am still waiting for a good 200cc kit including porting and head mods (which must be done to make conversion work properly) but have yet to find anyone that can do the kit including porting head mods etc, would be willing to pay a decnt price for the right work.
  12. yes mine did, I never got that frame tested for road use but am assured by several others (that say they have done it) that it will not prevent you getting an mot on bike.
  13. I agree, I had to do the same with my TY

Thats the kit I was told would be available soon ? the full 200 (Ok 198) with porting by reg may, but nothing on webiste so assumed its not yet available, with a standard ty/dt250 piston it takes it to abouit 192 ? can't remember for sure but it is not full 200 either way. anyone know if it is available from John cane (suppose I should ring him ?)

    What carb

how did you do conversion, what size piston and what from ? I have had mine bored to + 2mm to make it roughly 185 and with some other tuning done I felt the standard carb was a bit on the small side and bike did not rev out easily although ok at bottom end, I fitted a DT175 carb which is a 24mm mikuni vm (wanted to keep it all period, have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about monos converted to twin shock etc), although this has taken a little setting up it is now as good at bottom end as the original 22mm vm but with better mid and top end (I think ! don't forget testing performance of bikes/carbs is very subjective) I am now looking for a genuine 200cc conversion, told by John cane at trials and trails uk (think thats the right name) that he is shortly going to be offering a full 200cc conversion with some good porting work.
  16. HI that is ok and may improve flow but what you really want/need is a bigger volume air box so that the engine is consistently breathing through a stable air supply which only a larger volume air box can provide, has anyone made such a thing, as far as I can see not much room to increase volume without a complicated fabrication job, if anyone makes such a thing let me know (i.e. whoever it was that made up a fibreglass one did you keep the mould ?) Thanks
  17. Has anyone made a new air box for the 175 ? I am building a majesty and would like a new air box, original is supposed to be too small in volume and must admit it does seem a small volume especially if engine is asked to do more, i.e. 200cc ported etc etc.
  18. Thanks Jim, don't suppose anyone does new fork stanchion caps that will fit my forks, they are a bit rough and would replace if I could, also is there an exploded diagram of forks anywhere (on beamish owners site for instance) the ones I am using seem very very hard sprung contrary to what I have been told they are like, just wondered if someone has put wrong spacers in, the ones in mine are about 75mm long (fitted at top of springs).
  19. I must admit if I had seen that one I would have bought it, certainly would have paid a couple of grand for one like that
  20. Thanks for comments re bike for sale, got info back from vendor, it is just a standard 143cc bike, I appreciate comment about five year old air cooled four stroke but it is not the version I want so would not be happy buying it, if I do get one (was advised against it at west leeds trial yesterday) then I will want the 200 racing version or not at all.
  21. got my majesty nearly completed, can anyone tell me the amount of oil and weight to use in the forks (they are ealry rl forks rather than beamish ones) just as a starting point I know, also they seem very stiffly sprung in spite of being told they are too soft as standard ?!
  22. I get your point but can assure you its way too loud, heard across several valleys before putting extra rear silencer on it (I am not averse to a loud two stroke, used to race a TZ350E that wailed beautifully, fantastic sound !) also though I have noticed it lacks bottom end which could be a sign that the silencing material is clogged and therefore no room for exhuast gas to expand into volume of first silencer box.
  23. can anyone tell me if the 175 that has appeared on fleabay is the good spec one ? looks like it has damping adjustment on forks, I thought all the good late ones were yellow and black, again any info much appreciated. item number is 260836178951 (don't know how to put links into message text)
  24. I know it has been more or less covered before but ............ can anybody tell me which system is the best to put on my majesty (185 going to 200 soon) rebuild, at the moment it has a one piece wes but it is very loud (so think the packing that cannot be replaced is carboned up and lost it's absorbing properties), I am under the impression that the two piece wes is the better option, works better and re packable ? is it necessary to buy one of the new front pipes to go with new silencer(s) also anyone any idea which will fit straight onto my mini majesty, last thing as I see it there are three main outlets for these exhaust systems, anyone know if they are all the same system which I suspect they are and all made by wes. Thanks for any info (preferably from experience)
  25. sounds perfect for me, all I need now is to buy one !!
