  1. Thanks for all the info much appreciated, pity about you just having sold one, I would have been interested, will now be looking out for one of the good ones, i.e. 160 cc withadjustable suspension etc.
  2. got to agree casey stoner will be and deserves to be champion, it is simple at the moment he is the fastest man out there, I do think danny could run him close when fully fit and up to speed and also marco has shown the speed needed to challenge, sunday seemed to be marco making a concerted effort to get the thing to the flag, he needed a decent result, as far as personalities give me the extrovert rossi, sheene, lorenzo etc anytime over the dour stoner, I also do think he is a whinger (rossis mega pass at laguna was just tough race craft and anyone that has done a bit of club racing will know that), it is impossible to compare stoner and rossi as even the biggest rossi fan will admit he has reached his peak and gone over it, once that happens there is no way of ever being dominant again (in any sport) whereas stoner is at the peak of his riding and will probably be so for another couple of seasons. Just wish the grid was full (that is the reasoning behind the 1000cc switch back) and we had more riders capable of running at the front, still fantastic to watch but could be even better with thirty bikes on grid and perhaps ten riders in with a chance of winning instead of the three or four "aliens"
  3. thanks John, looks like that is what I will try to get, I have a road bike plus my twinshock (majesty yam) and have lost my appetite for throwing myself at giant rock steps (which seems to be the focal point of any hard section now) so think a 163 Scorpa would be the ideal bike for me to compete in clubman type sections. ps any idea if a 2005 sy175 will be a 143 or 160 engine cant get a response from seller on fleabay (rcmtrialsport)
  4. HI to the Scorpa owners, I am considering buying a modern bike but (for some strange reason) I fancy one of the little four stroke Scorpas, question is would I be better holding out for a 175, and which 175 ??? apparently there are 143cc and 160cc 175,s so from experience I think the 125 would be underpowered so advice on which one to buy would be appreciated, and if anyone has one for sale let me know. one other thing, I have read somewhere that these bikes were also sold with different spec suspension some better than others or is that just heresay ? Thanks for any help.
  5. agree with greychapel re rear engine mount, mine was really hard to split and it was due to the rear engine mount being corroded, check that rear of crankcase is seperating.
  6. HI Same tensioner as 125/175 JK Hirst list complete tensioner but are out of stock at moment
  7. HI I always warm case (with heat gun) and then knock crank in with hard nylon hammer.
  8. OK thanks that explains it.
  9. Just a quick one, (ooh err missus) does anyone know if bushes are the same for 175 and 250 twin shock, need some today and my local dealer is showing stock of 250 but not 175 bushes. Found out now (cos some I had on order have just arrived) that they are the same so if you want some from (i.e Jk Hirst) then you can order 250 ts bushes for 175 and vice versa.

    TY snail cams

Don't know where you are but both in motion (bultaco uk) and sammy miller products do sanil cams with 15mm holes, I have dealt with both and had excellent service from them both.
  11. Thanks, found out part is obsolete from Crooks website, did locate part using your part number (thanks), slightly different dimensions according to crooks though, it is only 22mm wide rather than 25mm according to their spec on part, will have to get something made, will go to 25mm easier to take a little off than put some back on !
  12. Thanks Matty, mine are the earlier RL ones though, not air assisted.
  13. HI Thanks for help, don't suppose you know if it is available form crooks (for instance) if not will get one made.
  14. HI, yes I am aware of that, I have a godden made Majesty frame and as you commented it has a steeper steering head angle than the standard TY
  15. Thanks very much (hopefully)
  16. Has anyone got a spacer for the non brake side for front wheel or can anyone make one from dimensions of their own, I have either lost mine or didn't realise I had not received it when I bought the suzuki front end. Also has anyone machined off the normal handlebar (i.e. tiller type position) and put clamps on in a more modern position ?
  17. I have heard philpotts are good for renovating pitted and bent forks, only quoting as a possible second opinion (or price !) pittedforks.co.uk (I think)ps thanks for link to paul jackson re wheel building (been wanting that info for a while)
  18. I had just about the same problems with front brake on my Yam and had little or no succes in making it any better, everyone told me that brakes on TY175 were or should be quite good, I bought a set of Domino levers and they have transformed the braking and made the clutch lighter and better in operation, may not be the problem that you have but it worked on mine.
  19. HI I have confirmed my forks (that are going on my 200 Majesty) are RL forks rather than beamish ones, I have also been told that they are quite lightly sprung and if anything underdamped, this should mean they will work ok for me as my bike is quite light and I am below average weight (for a twinshock rider anyway), I would like to replace one of the fork top nuts due to damage, has anyone got one or ideas where I could get one. Thanks
  20. I have a suzuki front end that I am going to put on my Majesty Yam, I was told that it was a beamish front end but I think it is probably an earlier RL front end as there are no air valves on forks, can anyone confirm this and also, how are they rated as standard and does anyone have any tips or mods for setting forks up to work as well as possible. Thanks
  21. on this subject has anyone bought a 200 conversion from majesty yam site (Craig mowlem) were you impressed, is it a new liner job or just a big bore on the standard liner, it also says some mild port work is done, any more info on this kit much appreciated.

    TY175 Clutch

Has anyone any idea if there is another model of Yamaha clutch that can be adapted to fit the TY 175, mine has wear notches and am struggling to get a replacement in good condition, bought one off flea bay and it was worse than exisiting clutch (advertised as in great ?? condition) I know that the gear can be removed and rivetted to a new basket but dont know if anyone has found aything that fits or have had succes with somehow repairing wear notches on exisiting parts. also if anyone knows where I can get some frame mods done local to Leeds (I want to steepen steering head angle but not that good with small gauge welding and not really got the right gear, I am fitting leading axle forks to retain rake/trail somewhere near)
  23. No chance of catching that ferry, better to stay Sunday night and go to prizegiving, get the Monday afternoon ferry back and watch first race of Manx grand prix on Monday morning, makes for a top stay in the island.
  24. I have rockshocks on my Yam and can recommend them, they perform really well (compared with the betors that were on it before) and the service when buying and owning rockshocks is second to none, well worth the money for me.
  25. HI, so does the mono piston fit without modifications apart from the big bore ? if so this seems an easy way to get to 200cc as you could fit a mono piston plus 1mm to get to 200 ? or is it easier to fit the twinshock 70mm piston, dont think it would be difficult to make a spacer plate to raise cylinder to suit taller piston, might be a little trickier bushing gudgeon pin hole in piston to suit 175 little end (or am I wrong ?)
