December 24, 20178 yr has anyone else with a 2018 evo found the fuel cap swells up ? been told the 2017 has different threads so wont fit. anyone making them ?
December 24, 20178 yr It’s aluminum threaded into aluminum so it can’t really swell. As pointed out though it’s real easy to overtighten and gall the threads especially when new. Tiny dab of antiseize or just wait until it wears in. Duh just looked at my ‘18 and it’s plastic so what I said above is obviously the ravings of a madman. My apologies. Edited January 13, 20188 yr by dan williams I’m an idiot
December 24, 20178 yr Author plastic into alloy a bike dealer told me yesterday he had to get one made as the plastic swells up mine goes in 2 threads and thats it . Edited December 25, 20178 yr by scottishsteve bad spelling
December 26, 20178 yr I would speak to beta uk they will sort it out for you . They always have great service
December 26, 20178 yr Yes, it's not your problem - Sale of Goods Act - your dealer needs to sort it out.
December 27, 20178 yr Me and another person I know who has the evo 2018 are having problems with the plastic cap, I have had to cut a few threads off the bottom of the cap for it to sit better and less threads to do up or I would have never got it back on , I might take a trip to my dealer or phone them after Christmas to see what they will say about the issue.
December 28, 20178 yr Author spoke to the dealer today hopefully a new one on its way. out of 70 bikes sold im the only one thats had a problem.
December 28, 20178 yr Nice one Scottishsteve hope the replacement is better, I never had a problem with my 2012 evo 250 petrol cap but this 2018 model is bad, I also noticed that my lower airbox plug just spins and I can't get it off all ? Edited December 28, 20178 yr by Kytey
December 28, 20178 yr Author i changed the plug on the airbox. beta uk are shut until the 2nd of jan. will see how long the new fuel cap lasts.
January 3, 20188 yr I know of 4 bikes which have this problem, they're a nightmare to get off and on.
January 23, 20188 yr Author still waiting on a new fuel cap from the dealer i phoned beta yesterday saying it might be the breather pipe on the frame stopping it .nope its not that hope to get time to call beta tomorrow.
January 23, 20188 yr My Jotagas had that problem .I solved it cutting the thread deeper with a triangular file and reduced the overall diameter with a flat file.Shouldnt have to on a new bike though.
February 25, 20188 yr I have exactly the same problem, by the 3rd time out of the bike it was to the point it actually hurt trying to get it off, putting it on is an absolute nightmare to catch it then only goes in slightly! My dealer told me there onto it! Waiting for a replacement.
