Hi all, 

Currently doing a bit of work on my 2017 250 gas gas I bought earlier in the year. 

I have done the rear wheel bearings and now onto the front, but struggling on how to drive the bearings out. There is no lip to get any purchase on

 

I read on here the 1p trick for the rear bearings which worked a treat, but can't find anything in the front.

You will need a expanding mandrel to drive this bearing out.

If you have a welder stick a bolt or nut in the middle, tack it in and drive the bearing out, warms the hub nicely to get the new ones in too.

You can use a rawlbolt as an expanding mandrel.Its best to warm the hub up first

There is an inner aluminium spacer between the two wheel bearings. It will pry to one side enough to start tapping out the bearings.

I've a 10mm steel rod , I put that through the wheel onto the inside lip of the bearing then put a flat screw driver above it and lever the rod down. While it has some tension on it belt the other end with your favourite hammer. It only has too move a couple of mm and the bearing spacer will move.

thanks all. If the spacer will move a bit I'll give that another go before buying anything.

 I file two slots opposite each other in one end of the spacer big enough to allow a suitable drift to get past and onto the inner race of the bearings...usually 10mm wide so I can use 10mm dia Ali bar to just release the pressure on the spacer so it moves easily to one side. 

That's a top tip by Thall1. Its what I do too.Also warm outside of hub when removing too. It all helps.
