Took one in PX in 1982

Sat there for a while at the back of the workshop

Used it in a few club trials for a laugh

Then it dropped a valve

Then I rebuilt it

Then when me Lad was wobbling about on a TY 80 I rode it in 'Classic' events

But it was too new!! for Classics but it gave me a ride!

Then it lounged in a couple of sheds whislt I moved house once or twice

Then I was out of the motorbike game

I don't know why really but I hung on to the thing

Kinda fun to ride but not competitive!

Rebuilt it again in 93!

I think Clewsey only made about a hundred of them

Nice to look at!

Eventually, cos me shed was full last year an me bank balance wasn't

Stuck it on e bay and it went to Barcelona!!

Hy

I always folllowed the results of Nick Jeffries at the world rounds, when I was about 14 years old back in 1978. Great mythic bike.

There was a CCM meeting with 4 thumpers at an AFATA Trial in Soultz , Alsace, France some years ago 2005. Great bikes, but I didn't dare asking for a try...

Pat

PS: Maybe a van Marvick BSA is more competitive...

Hi,i rode mine in the late 80's got some mod tips off the smith brothers fitted a 24mm mikuni carb & put a reduced cone in the front of the exhaust it would pull from nothing & in the rivers you could wind it up without the front wheel going skyward, yes you lost a bit of top end but it never failed to get up any hill in a set out trial local or in the twinshock sebac events . Finally got a garage so i can get it back running rather than having it covered up to avoid prioring eyes.
