Tires

The last rear tire I bought for my 2015 Sherco was a Dunlop 803 GP rear and I still run the original Michelin front, it's time to refresh  them. Here is a list of what's avalable in the area : Rear Dunlop K950, Geomax TL01 and D803GP - Michelin Comp - IRC TR-11. Front Michelin Light and Heidenau K67 ( never heard of that ). What is your experience

I’ve heard good things from all of them except the Heidenau. Heidenau makes tires for older or vintage bikes and have a good reputation but not so much for their trial tires. I’m also pretty sure you’re running a tubeless tire on the back and, I believe, Heidenau only makes tube tires. If cost is an issue I’d go with the IRC because they’re much less expensive and many reports rave about them and say they do everything a trial tire needs to. That’s (IRC T-R-11) what I’m getting next.

The difference between the Michelin tires and Dunlops is like spitting hairs. They all have excellent reputations. The Dunlop TL01 is their newest version. The difference between them are in how soft the tread is, weight and sidewall stiffness. The differences are minimal, however. You’ll need to decide which will work best for where you ride and style of riding.

Mitas has a new version of trials tire that I’d like to try, but they’re not available near me. This new version is reputed to be a big step up from their older version. Who knows if it’s true though?

Note that if there is no R in the tire size it's not a radial 🤓

Remember when the Michelin Light came out and they were less money then the X11 version, they are cheaper to produce and have now become the most expensive option available because of supply and demand.   The X11 radial is still available and can be had for significantly less money 👍

X-lite is the worst buy IMO. Expensive, wears quick and ive found I have to run them at a higher pressure which negates most of its benefits.

Anyone tried the new CST tyre? looks good, and £85 for a rear

I'm a brand new trials rider, so I have no other feedback other than I bought the IRC TR-11 due to them being half the cost of the Dunlop TL01 or Michelin X-11. The TR-11s were about $220+tax for the pair. I needed to replace the original tires on my 04 TXTPro so honestly I'm sure anything is an improvement.

TrialsSuperstore only sells the TL01 and X-11 if that tells you anything...

I also looked at the Dunlop K950 but being DOT rated, it looked more like a dual sport tire pretending to be a trials tire. Reviews stated that the rubber compound is way harder than a true trials tire and therefore less traction.
