  3. Thanks, that makes sense. I'll wait until the shop get back to me to see if they actually stock the caliper with the angled cut, but they seem to be just as confused as me. It's strange that the picture on the website shows it and that the part numbers match, but the actual caliper itself is different to the picture and different to what was on the bike. As you you say if all else fails I can have a go at making the mod myself.
  4. Just a hunch, but I think the angled cut was to allow the brake hose easier access into the swingarm, which is the route it takes on your bike, when the wheel is fully forward in the swingarm. Later bikes and other manufacturers have the hose mounted outside the swingarm. Worst case scenario you can cut/hack/file this clearance into the new caliber
  5. Were the points open when you measured this continuity to ground? Open the points, and then also try removing the condenser, it can short to ground if faulty. You can get a new condenser at most autopart stores or online for a few quid

  7. Thanks @Tr1AL, I'll have a look in to the vacuum bleed kit. I'm relatively new to trials and trying to learn on the job with regards to maintenance and repairs, so any tips are very useful.
  8. @Charliedimmock46 DT50/DT80MX 1982 looks almost identical but has lighting coil included. take that off if you do not want it . Go to ebay to find one second hand , not cheap though. Regards Alan..
  9. That should fit without problems the part number is correct to fit your bike. Regards Alan PS Using a vacuum kit to pull the fluid through the system helps as it can be a problem bleeding the fluid sometimes with these rear brakes. Vacuum kit to do the job is available on ebay for approx £10 delivered.

  11. Seeking advice on the above subject. I need a new rear brake caliper for my Gas Gas TXT pro 2010. The caliper that I removed from the bike had an angled cut on the caliper hanger/carrier part of the caliper. I ordered a new one (part number 365019MO0), but when it came it didn't have the angled cut, even though on the website it was shown in the picture of the caliper. I've been in touch with the shop and they say that the part numbers match up with Gas Gas catalogue etc. Has anyone else had the same issue when trying to get a new rear caliper with the angled cut on the carrier/hanger part, and does anyone know if the caliper without the angled cut would fit the Gas Gas TXT pro 250 2010 without causing problems (everything else on the caliper matches the old one that came off the bike). I was thinking that maybe the angled cut caliper was an older standard model which fits both the Gas Gas and other bikes, and maybe the version without the angled cut is a new standard model that still fits the Gas Gas but maybe not other bikes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  12. HI, Many years ago I fit a Stator form a small DT Yamaha. Worked a treat.

  14. I'm not saying your coil is good, but oil won't cause it to short out. Lots of large transformers are cooled by being immersed in oil. Everything is in parallel with the source coil.
  15. Get it rewound by a place that does small coils.
  16. Hi all, I’ve just picked up a ty80 to restore for my daughter when she’s old enough. unfortunately the engine casing has cracked which has caused oil to get to the stator and the ignition source coil is now giving continuity to ground. im struggling to find a replacement specifically for the ty80. Does anyone know of any other which fits? It’s a single coil stator
  17. As said, some parts may be drop-shipped to reduce stock holding. It gives the business more liquidity, which means that they are there for you long term. It is no good going out of business with lots of unwanted stock, that does nobody any good in the long run. If you really dislike it, stick to the dealers that state on the sales site if it is in stock. You will soon learn who is up to date on their sites, and who says they have it - but don't. That in itself may be to staff not booking stock in or out correctly that means stock levels are wrong - but you will see who can be relied upon, and who to call to check they have physical stock.

  19. Copied this info from somewhere not sure if this refers to the frame colour or the side panels but might give you a start. "The colors of these frames and swingarms are all aluminum gray (RAL 9006) except for the TR77 first series which are gloss black and the TR77 second series which is green (RAL 6011)." Regards, IDC

  22. Which bearing did you decide was the possible issue?
  23. I got the replacement bearing but never got round to swapping it out, i did find that once i changed the clutch oil the noise wasnt as 'grindy' so maybe try that first.
  24. Hi What are the differences between a 1982 Fantic 125 and a 240. Is the frame etc the same with just the capacity increase ? thank you
  25. Hi can someone advise on the correct chain tension and what is the correct rear wheel nut torque (possibly 60NM) ? Also I’ve just replaced the chain tensioner bush which had worn where the chain had rubbed. After refitting chain it looks like it might still rub on the new one, is this normal ? thanks
  26. This video will show you where the oil filler port is. You have the “older” clutch cover described in the video. At least, I hope it will. https://youtu.be/SKPCCsKOgr4?si=zsZasnYuUxNHTCfD
