  2. ‘Can a 50 yr old start from scratch and where’ by JonG71 from November 25. Hi again, search for the above post as a more recent one. Tr1AL gives a good reply and I put some advice on there too.
  3. Thanks, I’ll search out those posts👍
  4. Hi Graham, welcome along to this wonderful world of trials. There are/have been lots of similar requests on here with plenty of sound & friendly advice to help you along. I’ve had a look back at some of my replies to people & ‘grovesy91’ (I think that was the name) made a similar request back in 2018. Have a search for ‘what bike’, or ‘new starter’ or similar and you’ll find lots of info. If you can’t find anything come back & up let us know. £1000 might be a bit tight on budget, but look around for the best serviced & looked after mechanically example rather than necessarily the smartest looking. Should still get a decent, if older, starter bike. I’d go Gas Gas Pro or Beta Rev 3/evo as I think that’ll give you best choice at that price & baring in mind spares availability. Go & read some of those old posts for some guidance. Good luck
  5. Hi, I’m keen to get started on some gentle trials. I’m in Aberdeenshire and have always fancied it, and realise it’s now or never as I get older. I’m budgeting on circa £1k for a used Beta or Gas Gas. Any buying advice appreciated and any more general advice also welcomed. Hope I’m not too old. I had a Fantic when I was 19 and have been a MTBer over the years, so like to think I’ll at least have some sense of balance and technique, but mainly I just want to have some fun and give it a go. Also any advice on basic kit welcomed. Graham
  6. I used the Vauxhall equivalent (same body) to transport my trials bike. Carried it in the centre with front wheel between front seats. Just cinched down front forks to give height clearance.
  7. Yes I did. Are you familiar with the bike.
  8. Glad you're liking trials, it's addictive. Did you buy it through the Tryals Shop?
  9. Got some maintenance and mods done today. Looking forward to seeing how it responds! C-F reeds Jet block gasket

  11. Hi, I'm a new trials rider. 47 years old. Recently purchased a 2020 vertigo r2 250. Been riding bikes on and off for 35 years. I've been riding it everyday for three weeks now and really loving it.

  13. Is anyone using a Peugeot Bipper to transport a bike? Are they big enough? I'm only transporting one bike.

  17. Recently acquired a 1963 Cub converted to a TR20 replica complete with 3TA forks. I am a relatively light rider (65kg) and find the suspension very hard and also noisy with the rebound 'slam'. I am toying with the idea of fitting progressive springs (and possibly rebound springs) ?? The legs have casting numbers H1119 and H1120 (possibly suggests sidecar origins ??) with what I believe are a red/white marked 464mm long springs. The units themselves feel smooth and tight so I'm disinclined to dismantle them further. Any experience, advice or suggestions for suitable solutions would be very much appreciated.

    beta evo 300 4t 2009

You can start by cleaning the carburetor and making sure it is seated in the manifold properly. If a 2009 has the hot start button, check for leaks.
  19. Possibly air got into the clutch hydraulics while it was lying down. Alternatively, if you pulled the clutch or pressure plate off, you may have let the clutch pushrod ball fall out and not notice it. I doubt the shift shaft has anything to do with it.
  20. Hey first post looking for some guidance on my recently acquired 06 rev 3 had some wiring issues which lead to a not running issue which lead to me kick starting it with a couple loose bolts and cracking the inner clutch cover. replaced the cover got it all together and now have no clutch disengagement. when I pulled the inner cover I pulled the shift shaft out a bit before I noticed. i pushed it back in and seemed fine. Im very mechanically inclined just new to trials bikes does the shift shaft go into the slave and did I make a boo boo and pop the slave out?
  21. Hi again, just had a look for a few pics to jog my memory (Google, not pics of mine I don’t seem to have any 🤷‍♂️). Clearly my memories are clouded as all the pics of the MH version show a red frame, and I must be getting single down tube frame mixed up with something else, maybe mates cota 250. Also with the tank, I thought I remembered a slightly textured finish plastic tank on the MH but again all pics show otherwise, a very shiny red tank which could be fibreglass, mine definitely was fibreglass but white. On the slightly older models, the rear lower edges of the tank unit below the seat, had a ‘flaired’ shape over/around the rear shock top bolt ( presumably for comfort against the leg/boot) but the later ones seem to be trimmed along as a straight edge. In my own experience those ‘flairs’ cracked & crumbled so ended up being trimmed off & I expect many others were too. Any way good luck with your project, I hope you find the detailed information you’re looking for, and that my vague & sometimes inaccurate memory helped in some small way. I always thought it was a great little bike, despite its utterly rubbish brakes in water🤣. It didn’t seem to matter what cables or shoes or mods thereto, as soon as they got near water they were useless for the rest of the trial. Wheels out first job after every wet event ! Oh great days eh!

    beta evo 300 4t 2009

I have a problem with the carburetor on my beta evo 300 4t 2009 mikuini bsr se 33-79 I can't combine the gasoline and air The engine stalls at low speed Can you tell me how to fix it
  23. New seals and bushing, disassembling the lower fork legs, sand blasting casted parts, new stickers ... New bearings, polishing the hub, new spokes & nuts. Ultrasonic cleaning disc and screws. Coming soon : new steering bearings.
  24. thanks for your reply, a picture is now emerging as apart from the rivetted plate headed as montesa/honda mh200 and also the stamped numbers on headstock bearing the same montesa/honda numbering starting with MH200 its looking like the bike is a mh200, my bike has gold akront rims and with half width hubs and when i purchased the bike it had a black frame which i assumed was incorrectly painted by some previous owner, i have since painted it red but didnt find any evidence of it having previously been red unless it was blasted or dipped however as the rivetted plate shows no signs of being disturbed this is unlikely, i have stripped the tank to the gelcoat and its never been red so looks like i have a mh200 with a cota 200 tank, as my engine has same last three digits as the frame number i assume its got its original engine,
  25. Scrub that, I just found some on FleaBay 🙂
  26. I got the bike out yesterday after not using it at all last year and it was generally fine but the rear brake was binding a bit so I decided to overhaul it and replace the seals. It appears that Beta only do a kit which includes new pistons, which I don't need - has anyone found an aftermarket supplier for the seals only?
  27. Apologies once more looking at the schematic I've figured it out
