BSA mono TY175? Does anyone remember these models based on a TY175 running gear in the early 80's. There were a few when my son used to ride schoolboy trials. Schoolboy trials were very big then in the Bristol area when you could get up 100 riders at an event. Would love to see some pics of this particular model, if anyone has any or who made them etc?

Can anyone tell me which are the better TYZ's?. My mate has a '96 purple wheeler which is really soft on the power and so grips like hell. I was talking to someone who has had a few and reckons the later ones have more aggressive engines so break traction more easily. Also, what is the Scorpa engine like compared to the TYZ's?. I fancy something with a bulletproof reputation. Thanks for any info

Hey all, my first post on these forums. Purchased a bike i thought to be a standard TY80 the other day, after catching a glance of it rusting away in a friend of a friends back garden. After a closer inspection , and an email from a very friendly guy on eBay, it seems i have bought a Mk1 Whitehawk TY80. It is a bit of a wreck at the moment, but hopefully given time i can get it back into useable condition. Luckily i got my hands on it before the previous owner went through with his plans to 'modify' it with DT50 parts!. If anyone can point me in the direction of any info and pics on this bike, and also any good sources for spares i would be grateful.

I need to freshen up an old ty250 motor and my local yamaha dealer is not interested in helping out. There are no more factory pistons hanging around these days so aftermarket is the only option. The problem is nothing is listed for tys. When I did my 175 I used a CT 175 piston. Worked fine, just opened the ports a bit. Does anyony know what piston from the Yamaha line other than for the TY will work. It seemes that just about every other model is listed. Thanks Aaron

We are about to acquire a TYZ250, have had one before but rode it standard. I've heard about mods like lowering the footpegs and moving them back an inch can make the bike easier to ride (not that they are particularly hard in the first place) but wondered if their are any other worthwhile mods you trials enthusiasts may know of. Thanks. Eiger.

Can anyone help? I've just finished rebuilding my '89 TY250R mono, but need a sidestand (I've got the bracket and spring, just need the 'leg'). O/E part is ridiculous money. Does anyone know of a cheaper solution? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Guys I've just picked up my new (very old) twin shock Ty175 to join my FZR400RR 3TJ & RD350LC. I intend to use the TY for light fun use off road with my pal on his fantic 305. Any advice on where I can read up more on the TY175 or what manuals are available will be greatly received. I've no manual for the bike and have found that info appears rather scarce for these bikes - which suprises me very much. To be honest I don't even know how old my bike is (it's not road registered). I've paid

TY250/350 Monoshock: Loosening the bottom bolt, on the outside bottom of fork leg, also requires holding the inside damper rod, apparently at the bottom of the inside of damper rod. Top of damper rod doesn't have any visible hex ID. Manual and parts book refer to a special Yam tool part number (blank stare at the local dealer) but no idea of what it grabs into. Is it a hex, square, a 4 prong, or what? If I knew what size and shape I can weld something onto a long rod and reach down in there. Catch 22: can't get it apart without knowing what it looks like, can't see it until its apart. Any ideas or size and shape help? tks, kcj

I have bought a genuine Yamaha air filter for my TY 175, and in my Haynes workshop it shows a plastic holder, I have loaned one for now but were do you obtain this item as Yamaha don't show it on their database! Is it necessary or do you just fit filter on its own?

Does anyone know the price of the new Majesty 125 that BVM have advertised on their web site. I have emailed but no reply as yet. It looks very tasty, its a Cotswold made 125,(I think) is it the same engine thats fitted to the 125 Scorpa. Be interesting to see how they compare price wise to a new 125 Scorpa?
