General Trials Talk

Hi all, Just interested in knowing what grade I would ride if I was riding in another country: ie: In Australia my sections usually have up to 3 foot steps, very tight turns with minimal need for trick riding and no need for splats. (sorry for vagueness) What grades would this be in other countries. cheers ben_r downunder

I'll keep this brief since I've asked far too many bearing-related questions here recently: How do I remove siezed upper linkage bearings (where the linkage connects to the swingarm) on a '99 GasGas 270TXT without a bearing press/puller? Is it possible? Would heat and perseverence work? They can't be drifted out 'cos the bearing is flush with the swingarm casting. Once again, I'm totally unworthy...

My son's TXT 80 has a lovely 4-pot caliper that I'm thinking would make a dandy replacement for the 2-pot one on my 2.9. I need more stopper than he does! Anybody know if the master cyl is the same for 2 and 4-pot calipers? On some bikes (non-trials) you need a new master for moving the extra fluid.

I went to an ACU training day today for National CofC and Stewards, run by John Collins. I've not met John before, but he was a breath of fresh air. The ACU get a good slagging whenever the opportunity arises (sometimes unfairly), so I thought I'd try and balance the books a little. Probably the first person I've met from the ACU who I would be happy to have represent me at any ACU meeting. It's good to know that someone with such a grip of reality is involved at the higher levels within the ACU. anybody know where i could get a cheap rear wheel for a REV 3? as the other day i was at hook woods with sam coner and my tyre came off the bead we couldnt get it back on so i was buggered for the day so it made me think about getting a spare rear wheel.

Im new to trials central forst post. Im from U.S. needing to get parts for mecatecno amigo need a primary gear (t4 morini engine) absolutly nothing available in the states.

As looking on Dave Mawers website, I seen that he has used a kitchen sieve (not sure on the spelling) as the vents on his seat to prevent all the dirt getting in. And I wondered, as a seive doesn't restict airflow, could it be used elsewhere? Such as the cap for the air filter, over the end of the silencer to stop all the mud getting in and many many more. However, the sieve will reduce the ammount of dirt that enters, but there will be a build up of dirt, which isn't good for the air filter. But the silencer may be an idea? I've had to take apart my silencer to remove all the mud build up that it creates due the conditions I ride in being so muddy. Just an idea, what…

Trying to put together some trials promo material (after talking about it for two seasons). Intent: exposure at a motorcycle show where Tommy A has done his demos. I want to address two common crowd comments: 1. That's neat but I could never do that. Focus will be on youth, beginner, and club level stuff to show what the sport is for the average human. 2. Thats neat, do they do that around here? Promo for the local club, schedules, contacts, etc. My intent is a short 10-20minute endless loop video, a couple permanent poster boards, and some single page handout/takeaway material. Back when bikes had points you had to remove the flywheel and replace or at least file the points fairly often. When I replaced the points or checked the gap I always checked the flywheel run-out. Now that bikes have electronic ignitions I rarely remove the cover. How often should you check run-out of the flywheel and how much run-out is too much?

Hi all Just bought an 02 Gas Gas TXT280 Pro. Wondering what type of 2 stroke oil everyone is running in their bikes. The previous owner used Bel-Ray H1-R at 100:1. A lot of KTM guys I know are running Mobil MX2T because its readily available at Auto Zone and is also a good deal. Seems to work well also. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi all, I was on this a while ago asking for general info on the 1993 Aprilia 280R Climber (purple tank, yellow radiator shrouds). Now I'll be more specific. Looking at the forks, theres a couple of screws on the top and I was wondering what sort of adjustment was available on these forks and which adjuster is which? Theres also an adjuster on the left hand fork but not on the right. Which is which? Also, same question for the shock.........

Please can anybody tell me if it is possible to lighten a ty250 t/s clutch by removing 3 springs has anybody done this on this bike with success? or what about putting a lighter set of springs in, if so which ones ?. Any help would be helpful. cheers.
