I Had a great weekend and thought I would pass along a recap. I bought a new bike. That is a pretty rare occurrence for me, and a great deal of thought went into the selection. I thought some of it might be useful to others who are considering a new bike. Since 2001, I have been riding a 2000 GasGas TXT 280, which I inherited from my son. He (we) acquired that bike through a partial sponsorship and then lost interest after one season on the bike. The TXT ( now known as the 'Edition") model was and still is a great bike. I ride in the STRA (southeastern US) region and off the top of my head, I would guess that about 45% of the members ride GasGas. Probably 30% ride Sherco…

  4. Started by marky g,

After taking the carb off my 01 Sherco for the umpteenth time (in the warmth of my shed) I'm starting to wonder if there is any trails bikes out there where you havn't got to take the rear guard off and the airbox just to get the carb off. I dread to think if ever I had to get the carb off at a trail after a few muddy laps!! what are Beta's like or Montesa's like?? There's allot to be said for a bike thats user friendly with the spanners in mind The old Sherco seems to be running too lean for my likeing, after fettling with the carb and the ignition timing I'm starting to get p****d off with it.

Hi, I am slowly, actually very very slowly making progress with my Tiger cub rebuild and wondered what is the best paint to use for the frame, hubs etc....? I have a spray gun but no fancy booth, just the garage. The other consideration is cost, so any suggestions where to buy at the best price would be helpfull. Steve

Hello gyus especially in Canada and Scotland. In Finland we have nice winter weather, it means snow everywhere and minus degrees (centigrade). No trial at all. Only training methods jumping in garage with your bike or riding figure eights on driveway. Figure eights on hard snow are very good training with Michelin, when there are some

OK...how do you guys/gals do this? Back in days of yore, we could either sight down the chain or spin the wheel and make sure the sprocket was centered in the chain. But now that there's so much slack and the chain is rubbing on wear blocks and tensioners, this doesn't work anymore. I wish I thought that everything was so perfectly manufactured that I could just line up the little numbers on the snails, but...well...you know.

A while a go on TA I repied to a message asking about putting old engine oil on boots to keep them waterproofed and protected. Not wanting to distroy the 'expensive clothing' topic with a reply to bikespaces message, I decided to put a new topic up. What are your suggestions, recommendations and opinions on oiling the boots. I have red hebo technicals...would you suggest it? Reguards, Matt.

Received the Duke/ Octagon DVD for xmas. Very disappointed due to far to much pics of locality of each round and rider interviews. I would guess that only 50% of the whole vid is actually film of riding. Any suggestions for alternatives??

Got some rust sneaking in on my spokes, god damn road salt!! Can any one offer some advice on the best way of dealing with it. I'm worried that if I start going at it with sandpaper it will remove any of the good chrome around the rust.

I see some posts on what lads have done for sections in their back yard. These are pictures of sections I have built over the past 12 years, in my back yard. This creek is all concrete mixed a bag at a time and stones set in, the water is from the land drains but only runs when it's wet.
