I am trying to restore a TL250KO, I have a full original exhaust system but the back end has been chopped off. Would any body have a sketch of the original pipe defuser and the last bit of the tail pipe? Cheers Miked

Hey all, new to the forum, I recently traded a restored xr500r for a 1986 Honda reflex (plus a pit bike). I’m currently going through the lighting right now to get it street legal again. I’ve run into a broken headlight and speedo/idiot light cluster. I’ve sourced the speedo gauges on eBay, but I was possibly hoping to switch headlight to LED. Has anyone done this before? If so, what size light would it be? I measured my headlight at about 5.25in in diameter, but I can only seem to find 5.75in headlight assemblies.

Hi, The TLR200 has a brake pivot/fulcrum that is more of a D-shape, rather than the more normal I-shape, i.e. the corners seems rounded off on one side. Does anyone know the thinking behind this ? Do people keep it, or replace ? Tony

as i have now got 5 honda single cylinder bikes, xl185, xl125, xr200r, crf230f and now a tlr200 i may be in a position to help some of you with what part is the same? ect. as honda do seem to make more different bits than needed, i have noticed a lot of parts the same on the tlr as the xl, and some may well fit the other bikes, you can allways email me as i may be able to help!, i also now of a shop with at least 6 tlrs for sale, these are imports and will need to be done up even for trials use, most are generaly all there, some with the odd part missing or shot tyres ect.

I have been informed that there is a Mikuni replacement for the RTL 250. Sounds like they are using a 24mm flat side. Anyone know anything about this? Finding the carb is no problem but I have no clue about the jetting. Aaron

Came across an old TMX help article about a 'Gaskell clutch modification' ie Clutch plate, operating arm & shim and clutch juddering. Has anyone heard of this or know what its about - just for interest sake? It talked about using stronger springs - surprise surprise!

I'm starting to rebuild the bike now, but might have a problem... The taper roller steering head bearings supplied are not both the same, unlike the old ball races. A mate said he'd fit them as he has a press, but I think they're the wrong way round - does anyone know how they should go in? One has a shallow outer race with a raised part to the centre race, the other looks like a conventional bearing and has a deeper outer race. Thanks Mick

I'm working on a 1976 Honda TL 125 UK version. Does anyone have the test specifications for the lighting coil (it has 3 wires). I have the factory Honda TL125 manual, but it is the US version and doesn't contain that information. I've never seen a similar lighting coil on other Hondas. I'd be happy to swap the US version manual for the UK info. Thanks for any help you can give!

Anyone know of rebuild kit for 1986 TLR200 rear shocks, or would it be better to to invest new set of rear shocks? Thinking about riding in vintage trials and obviously also doing front shocks also.

I've had a TLR250R (the monoshock) for two years since I bought it off of DK in Stoke on Trent when they managed to import it (presumably straight from Japan) without knowing much about it. Had a quick snoop around the web and decided I would take a chance on it as it would probably be worth more than they were asking, and it turned out great. It runs like a dream and is totally stock as far as I can tell. Having tried a more modern bike recently I am feeling as though something a bit more modern would suit me better. Money being short would force me to sell the TLR to fund another bike so my question is this: Roughly how much would this be worth? I appreciate pictures …

I came up with a simple fix for the burnt decomp cable on my TLR200. As you know the cable touches the rear heat shield on the exhaust pipe and it gets burned through to the metal guard. What I did was take a short section of fiberglass sheath like the that used by the theatrical lighting industry. While it may singe over time it will never burn through even with a direct flame appiled. I then dipped the ends in PlastiDip (like used for your tool handles to make them non-slip) to prevent the ends from fraying apart. Before I slipped this over the cable I patched up the missing section with Permatex Ultra Black Silicone sealant. This is good for up to 500 degrees. The …
