OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by benbaron,

hi guys, first posting but Ive recently purchased a 16'' 36v for my lad and Im considering fitting a foot brake - feel it would be more benificial for his future riding with a clutch. Anybody have any experience or suggestions on how to proceed with that? cheers Ben

Hi guys My boy (2.5yrs) is a true trials rider. He HAS TO ride through every bit of mud he can find. How do I clean his bike? Im presuming that I cant hose the bike down due to the electronics. Please dont say use a toothbrush.

  3. Started by midcitybikesbr,

While searching Craigslist nationally for an Oset 16 I ran across this cool custom 12.5. More of a MX type build but real neat mods. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/4232019583.html

  4. Started by charlie chitlins,

Looks like it might be a kids' bike, but there's no scale to compare the size.

  5. Started by johngem,

Had a near miss at the weekend with my 4 year old on his 12.5. He was riding down a short steep hill when the throttle has gone forward past the off stop position. The throttle then operated as full throttle and the bike took off crashing with him into a wall. Thankfully my son was fine. The oset has twisted bent forks and buckled wheel. I emailed oset uk with the details however to date no response. I would expect the default position with any failure should be to zero rather than maximum. At least with a petrol bike you have a kill switch.

Hi, My lad is nearly 4 and the 12.5 is looking a bit small. I don't really want to our faze him by moving him to a bike too big for him. I tried using the adjustable stearing head from my bicycle but it didn't just raise the handle bars it also move them forward quiet a lot which seemed to have a drastic effect on the bike's geometry. I think he'll be ready around Xmas time to move up, but until then does anyone have any ideas how to make his 12.5 bigger and therefor easier for him to ride?

Hi, my son managed to outlast the batteries on his 12.5 Oset yesterday so I'm considering getting him some spare ones. These are the options I have:- (i) ones from Oset, say they are 8Ah, can see from the picture they are Ritar brand for

Hi, Here is my situation. Ive got a KTM exc 200 and a scorpa sy250 for myself and have until recently enjoyed the odd play in the woods on the scorpa. My start in trials was predominantly to make me a better enduro rider but i dont get enough time to do or be good at either so im fiarly basic levels of both. My son (7 yo) has a 50 cc quad bike that he is growing out of and doesnt have much interest in anymore. I had planned to get him a 50cc moto but then the local coucil put a big sign in the woods on ANY type of motorcycle will be conviscated. This is due to more scrotey kids on mx bikes im sure but i aint taking the risk. So im thinking, kill two birds with one stone…

Hi all, Got the oset out this morning but the motor is totally seized. When it got put away everything was working perfectly, so strange that its now seized. Even with molegrips on the sprocket it wont budge Im guessing it a new motor, but anyone had similar? Ive never had a trials bike cost me as much as this Oset! Cheers Wayne.

I got the bike built and it is working pretty well. To make this work I: 1. Stretched the swingarm 3". 2. Bought the beefiest 36 spoke 26" bicycle wheel I could find. 3. Laced the wheel to the stock Oset rear hub in a 4-cross pattern using DT Swiss butted spokes (13 ga. at the end like stock, 14 ga in the middle). 4. Added 6" to the chain. 5. Bought a standard front wheel for downhill bikes (26" for 20mm through axle). 6. Put in 4 EarthX LifePo4 12V 24 aH batteries and made vacuum molded custom plastic shells for them. 7. Added a Trial Tech stem with 110mm length and 35 degree rise. 8. Flattened the downtubes a bit on the front with a torch and hammer to make clea…

I am hoping this will be obvious to someone but I can't figure what the power dial does? I got the new oset 20 home yesterday first ride and my 9 yo daughters straight away asking for all the dials to be turned up. Now at 100% on speed switch. The lower setting is 75% apparently. The "uptake" dial at half way so the throttles not too snappy (this is great feature) The power dial is a mystery. Same speed and acceleration when twisted low or high? What is it supposed to do? I am worried its broken as the bike is not as crazy a i heard they were. No power wheelies here or scared kid at full throttle. I recon my modded 16 running on 33.6v lipo is as quick. Any pointers …

Hi All, Anyone had this one? While riding today, bike lost power and intermittently now works. With the batteries fully charged and the throttle showing full power, the rear wheel won't spin. If I lift the rear wheel off the ground and spin it by manually it will start spinning albeit a lot slower than it should be. As soon as the throttle shut off, it won't spin up again unless I spin it manually again. It sounds like motor brushes to me, but can anyone confirm? Cheers all, Wayne.

Hi anyone on here any advice on which forks etc will improve the handling of the OSET 16?? Ive found a Rock shox rear shock which with a little engineering will work but I'm unsure which front forks I could use from say a mountain bike, Rock Shox, Fox or similar? Are they sized as 20" then? 1 1/8 steerer? It just seems to me that once the rider has progressed to a reasonable level the bike is letting him down, as the suspension doesnt damp like it should but rather just springs and bounces around lifting the wheel off the ground and losing traction. I dont want to spend a fortune as I am rather hoping his legs will grow and next season get him a petrol bike. Any ide…

If anyone has done an air shock upgrade on a 16 Oset, could you please post details/pics of the shock and modification needed? Trying to shave a bit more weight off the bike for my daughter. Also, if anyone knows how to soften up the fork that would be useful too. Much obliged

Just got a 16 24v and was suprised to read in the manual that the tyre pressures should be 30-40 PSI front and rear. Is that the right setup for trials? Many thanks in advance.

  20. Started by miom,

I've been following trials central for a while but have only just joined the forums, which have been of great use over the past couple of years. We have been using Oset's, first a 12 inch and for the last 12 months a 16 inch 36 volt bike for my 5 year old. The Oset was second hand when we got it and we just decided to buy him a new bike now he's been competing for a few months. After looking at Oset and Gas Gas versions we opted for the Gas Gas, which was quite a bit cheaper at £900 (36 volt). I was sceptical as everybody else seems to favour the Oset! We have been running the Gas Gas for a few weeks now and all so far is well with it. If anybody else is thinking o…
