Gas Gas

  1. Started by oddvar,

Hi im going to rebuild this. Can any won help me to identify what kind this one is? Year? Engine size?

  2. Started by PatMc,

Evening all I’ve recently rebuilt the engine in the above mentioned bike and it starts and runs but there is a running issue. When it’s idling it seems to hold the revs just fine but if you give the throttle a blip at all, it seems to rev really aggressively and takes a few seconds to drop back to a normal tickover. Also on initial start up if you use the choke fully open it seems to absolutely rev its knackers off . I can tell it’s a fuelling/carb issue but unsure what to look for . Thanks in advance if any of you can help Kind regards Paddy

Just bought the official GG repair kit for a 2012 TXT and was surprised to find that they don’t come with the round pin that connects the shaft to the drive so if you are changing yours make sure you don’t damage the pin when removing it. Rang around and nobody has the pin in stock in the U.K.

  4. The needle bearings are exposed on one side only. I did not take note on disassembly. Do the bearings roll on the tappet or the backing plate... Thank you in advance.. Jeff

I need to find a clutch master cylinder for a gasgas txt 280 2001 model. Any hints would be grateful

  6. Bought the bike about 6 weeks ago, the seller said he had moved the rear brake reservoir due to exhaust melting the pipe or something like that. Attached photo shows where he has fitted it, can someone show me where it is supposed it be fitted. Also I need to change the rear master cylinder, the brake light switch/banjo is no longer needed and a bit suspect so want to replace it with a banjo bolt, what size/ thread pitch is it? Cheers Tim

  7. I need to replace the 2 seals between the exhaust header and mid section on my 2024 TXT Pro Racing. Any advice? Remove header or mid box? I looked at removing the header pipe but can't see how i can get the lower hex bolt out of the barrel as the exhaust is in the way. A normal Allen key will go on but will only turn a few mm before it hits the exhaust or sump guard/frame. Any help/tips much appreciated. Thanks.

24’ mc 250. Bike ran fine last time i rode it, pressure washed it and now when the bike is off the fi light is on and solid along with the hour meter (hour meter runs if I don’t disconnect battery). Every 2 minutes or so while the bike is off and lights are on, it sounds like the fuel pump starts up for a second then will do it again in another 2 minutes. But the bike starts and runs fine. Only an issue when it’s off and sitting. Anyone ever have this happen? Any tips ?

  9. '98 TX270 purchase last week. I removed the clutch cover to add oil and found the fiber squeezing out the side of the pressure plate. Remove the pressure plate and found the fiber in four pieces. Any aftermarket brands recommended for this model? I'll begin my Google search after posting. Thank you all in advance!

  10. Started by Millwoodva,

Just bought the bike a couple days ago and need direction and guidance for repairs. No luck searching Google. Happy to have found this Awesomely informative site! Thank you all in advance.

  11. As title says, frame number suggests it's build is march 04. The master cylinder tops have been changed for aftermarket ones so can't go by the colour of the top. I had the Idea to take the top off and dab a cotton bud into fluid and rub it onto a painted surface (not on the bike 😉) and it took the paint off, so assuming I have DOT4 and not mineral oil unless that strips paint as well 🤔 Want to top up master cylinder and fit a repair kit. Cheers Tim

Just purchase this trials bike this evening and trying to figure out model It did start on first kick but was unable to ride it. Would only continue to fire on 1 sec intervals at wide open throttle with heavy smoke. So just.. pop..pop..pop.

  13. Started by excess,

So i found this bike for a good price I'm picking it up in a few days. It's going to be a spare bike so when buddies come to the house they have something to fool around on. It was listed as a 2013 and my first thought was the seller was just incorrect on the year. The more I research i think it actually is a 2013 (10th character of VIN is N). I think its some kind of economy version that used old left over frames and cheaper suspension and brakes. If that's true I don't know anything about this version. Can anyone fill me in on details? Specifically the suspension and brakes?

Hi all, just had a couple of hours on the old girl. Runs sweet as, but I noticed the chain was very slack after an hours ride, brought her back, undid the hub bolt, and it’s got to like cog adjusters on either side, I’ve turned them both the same and it’s tightened with a little slack, but not sure if the correct tension. I can get my thumb on the top of chain under inbetween the top guide, and thumb under the chain on the swing arm. I’ve tried to look but nothing video wise I can see to check. Thanks for any help.. kris

Evening all Hope your all keeping well . Bit of an issue with the above mentioned bike . Just did a top end rebuild on this bike bike , all went well or so I thought . It ran fine the first time I kicked it over . Tried again today and while it did run it stopped and seem like a heap of pressure was built up in kickstart. Whipped the plug out and noticed there was coolant there , not much I might add. Took the head off and the two o-rings were damaged. Also noticed that at the spot where the o-rings were damaged , the respective screws in the barrel were loose. Before I start ripping and tearing at it any more if there anything I might have missed t…

  16. Hello , My regulator gives out approx 14.8 v dc for the fan circuit. When the fan runs the voltage drops to about 9.5 v. The engine sometimes cuts out when idling and the fan comes on, it is also very very difficult to start if the fan is on. I have tested the resistance of the stator yellow to ground and I have 8 ohms. I think I'm right saying the stator should not have any connection to ground, ?? Can someone tell me what resistance I should have and on which leads, I think it's yellow and green approx 16 ohms.. does that sound right. Thanks in advance Gary

Hello, I replaced the cover 3 months ago and it is cracked again, I have read posts but am still confused why the cover cracks...... Only thing is engine can backfire sometimes when kick starting, could that do the damage?? Bart gear, bearings etc were all replaced also...., small washer fitted on kickstart shaft.... Thank you

  18. Hi everyone, I bought some swingarm bushings, seals and a new axle bolt but the swingarm bushings are so far off fitting. The seals are tight and the axle bolt is correct and fits the seals and bushings but the bushings dont fit in the swingarm right. The actual swingarm appears to be 25mm diameter and 48mm depth (each side) The bushings are 22.5mm in diameter so rattle in the swingarm and only 15mm deep so two of them (as per parts diagrem) dont make up the 48mm (even with the few mm the seals take up). I thought maybe I had been sent the wrong parts so ordered another set from elsewhere with the exact same problem. Only other thought was if the …

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone can help with this, but any suggestions would be well received. I am looking for a new/good used seat for my 2001 TXT. After trawling through forums and calling dealers, I'm told they are no longer available (in any colour) and I am struggling to resolve the problem. Any ideas for a strong repair would be welcome, unless you know where there is one, preferably in the UK. I've done the zip tie trick to stop the mudguard flapping about, but it's not ideal. If anyone has used an alloy plate to bridge the two parts, how did it hold up? Thanks in advance 🤞
