Gas Gas

  1. Started by rev. victor,

I've got new fork springs coming for my '99 321TXT. I'm wondering how I remove the springs from the damper rod assembly. It doesn't have the nut at the top of the damper rod like the newer style forks. So before I start messing with it how do I disassemble it? Couldn't find any info it the maintenance video or on the web. Thanks for any help.

Recently picked up a Contact which I want to set up for trail riding. Does anyone know of a larger radiator which could be fitted or a dual fan set up to increase the cooling function?

I've recently acquired a 2000 TXT280. I'm anxious to ride the bike since I've never been on a trials bike. I've ridden and raced mx for 30 years. Anyway, I need some parts to finish it up so I can ride it. If you know a good direction let me know. Also, where is the best place online to get parts for a Gas Gas? I don't have a local dealer as I'm near Birmingham, Alabama. I know I'll need both carb boots. I think I've located a mid-pipe. Eventually, I hope to replace the plastic and decals to make it look nice.

Hi Just cleaning the deep cleaning the bike, noticed the rear spring was wound to max height, What would be a good base/Factory setting for the platform? does it just effect ride height? Thanks Azz

A riding companion suddenly noticed a grinding noise in first gear on 2004 Raga. I neutral or any other gear there's no noise, but on closer inspection we could see swarf in the gearbox oil level window. Has anyone had any experience of this or a similar problem?

  14. Last night in attempting to correct an exhaust leak I stripped (yes i did) one of threaded holes on the exhaust port at the head. Has anyone corrected this situation? I am assuming it will require steel thread insert which leads me to asking if there is a danger in contacting a water jacket when drilling? I'd assume one would obviously not drill past the factory hole depth which was really quite shallow. WARNING-this stripped VERY easily and the thread depth is only about 1/4" be careful... Second Question. What does one do to get a good seal where the header pipe slips into the heavy aluminum exhaust chamber? The two O-rings that seal this connection seem to be allowin…

Has anyone seen this bike? Not in production yet,but looks pretty promising. Six speed, water cooled with a clutch. I guess one drawback to the EM is not as simple so maybe a bit more upkeep ?

I've just bought a JTR270, to have a play a Trials. Obviously I should have posted here first before buying, but I didn't It seems in good condition albeit scruffy. I'm a complete novice at Trials and although experience for 4 strokes, I've never had a 2 stroke before. What do I need to know? Can I get a manual for it? I assume there is oil in the gearbox to change periodically? what other routine serving should I do the bloke got it from said a 60:1 mix - sound about right? Any help appriciated. Jim

Hi there, I just picked up a 1998 320 pampera. Neat little bike! I got it to keep up with the kids who are just getting into trials. I have a few questions. - under the nuts on the rear axle, there are just 2 big flat washers on each side. Does that sound right? It seems to me there should be something like a step spacer, or something because the washers don't really make contact with the aluminum tensioner piece inside of the swingarm. - where is the turn signal flasher relay in this bike? (yes it's still street legal) Is it integrated into the module somehow. - where can I find plastics for this bike, are they still available through the GG dealer networ…

Please note there is currently a press embargo on publishing photos of this bike. I'm aware photos of it have leaked, but unlike others TC will respect these embargoes when in place. Do NOT post photos or links to photos of the 2011 Raga Rep on TC. Thank you.

Evening all I’ve recently rebuilt the engine in the above mentioned bike and it starts and runs but there is a running issue. When it’s idling it seems to hold the revs just fine but if you give the throttle a blip at all, it seems to rev really aggressively and takes a few seconds to drop back to a normal tickover. Also on initial start up if you use the choke fully open it seems to absolutely rev its knackers off . I can tell it’s a fuelling/carb issue but unsure what to look for . Thanks in advance if any of you can help Kind regards Paddy
