Went to watch my first French trial down in the Pyrennes …

I got my new gasser 04 300 in time for the weekends TC trial. It wa great and I love it already but I have a couple of questions. The bike is very difficult to start when warm or hot and not easy when cold. It seems to need priming and then a huge kick to get it started. It actually feels like it's not producing a spark unless the kicking revs are up fairly high. I'm sure I will get better at it but don't think I will ever be able to restart it in a section for instance. Has anyone else found this and sorted it? It ran fine all day on Sunday but ran with the fan on a lot and boiled over slightly at the end of the first lap. It this normal or what should I be looking for…

Is anyone out there riding an 04 GasGas? I'm looking at upgrading the 2001 TXT sometime soon and would like to hear what people have to say about it. I'm also thinking about changing over to the 04 Techno.

Has anyone with '04 Pro's messed with the programmable ignition? How do you go about changing it? What changes in performance do you see? Do you have the equipment required to change it yourself or do you have a dealer change it?

  8. Started by dabs alot,

I'm in the market for a '04 Gas-Gas Pro and I am looking for some opinions from riders that have ridden both the 300 and the 280. I ride intermediate class at our club, I struggle with low traction sections so I'm wondering which would have a powerband more suited to low traction situations. But.... I also enjoy play/trail riding on my trials mount where a snappy, powerful engine is fun. I guess you can't have it all with one bike! Fire away with the opinions, just don't recommend another brand bike, I live in Gas-Gas country! Thanks

Posting this on behalf of my technologically-challenged neighbour: It's a 2002 250 Pro. While draining the crankcase after a very wet day's riding, a not insignificant amount of coolant was noticed in there. Obviously not good. Any idea what could be the cause? Is there a seal behind the impellor somewhere that might have failed? Many thanks for any and all suggestions!

We have an 03 model 250 Pro and if its ridden in a wet or muddy trial the airbox starts to fill up with muddy water. We have used duct tape and applied silicon to try to help but it doesn't keep much out. I know they are known for this but our older 02 Pro had a different and much better airbox. Does anyone know of any worthwhile mods or if the 04 Pro has a better airbox and if it can be fitted to the 03? Thanks, Eiger.

Hi Dose any body know what the standard mixture screw settings are. Being a comnplete nonce i have fiddled with it without checking what the standard settings where. I have found out that it makes not a jot of differance to me as i cannot feel any differance anyway so would like to return it to standard and leave it there. Thank Glenn

Hi all went out last night for a ride and did this mother hill climb in 4th, (1st time succeeded) the bike chugged its way up and on the home trail she backfired and cut out I managed to kick her back into life while freewheeling and gave her some revs to clear her throat and off i went. While parked up outside the car having a cuppa one of the lads noticed pool of oil on the sumpguard under back brake pedal. Took the bike home, washed it this morning (too dark to do it last night) and inspected the area of the leak. I notice there was an open ended pipe behind the brake pedal and traced it back to the top of the gearbox just behind the carb to head joint thingy …

whilst out on the road with my mate on his 92 GT25 his bike started to backfire causing the exhaust to shoot out of the middle silencer bend the mount on the subframe and the exhaust cone to explode sending the pipe and packing with it. Its a B.V.M reproduction exhaust and not the original by the way. I just wondered what could have happened cos the bike wouldnt start afterwards and was flooded. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
