I just finished rebuilding the water pump and fitting new Clutch O-ring seals. I had a dragging clutch that stalled the bike in 1st but was OK ish in 2nd and Higher. The gearbox oil was creamy and was replaced with Motul. I changed the two O-ring seals on the clutch piston sleeve as well ( the old ones were a bit ruffff ! I have put it all back together and bled the clutch ( Coated the Garage ceiling with fluid when pressure bleeding !! ) The oil is now fine with no water ingress but the clutch still drags ?! I filled up the slave cylinder (in the clutch cover) and bled it back to the nipple then fitted the cover and preasure bled the rest of the system. Does a…

I have a 2001 TXT280 and need to re-pack the silencer with new fiberglass. Last night, I drilled out the rivets and removed the core. I noticed after unwrapping to old packing that the inner tube was also wrapped with layer of woven steel mesh. Is this standard from the factory or did the person before me do this (I bought it used) ? I decided to leave this mesh off since it was clogging the small holes of the inner tube. I think the performance should be better with only the inner tube and fiberglass. The only benefit that I seen with mesh was that the fiberglass did not stick to the tube. I would like to hear your opinions. Does your bike have this layer of mesh aroun…

Rode the Hipwell trial (John Hartle memorial) yesterday, a road trial around the Peak Forest area of Buxton, Derbyshire, not far from Gas Gas UK. Two laps of 25 superb sections in fantastic countryside (when you could see it through the mist) set out by brothers Andy and Kev Hipwell who both work at Gas Gas UK (and they both observed on the day!) The secretary was Jude Mellor also from Gas Gas who was the secretary for Manchester 17's 'Dead Easy' trial on Saturday afternoon as well. Other people were involved to various degrees and I apologise for not mentioning them by name. But for an importer to have such enthusiasts devoting much of their own time for our sport can o…

My son rode his first proper trial on Sunday and found that the clutch was slipping so badly that it would hardly go. Up to then it was just fine. I don't know what happened and have no experiance of these automatic clutches. Does it need replacing or is there something that can be adjusted. It's not done many miles from new two years ago. BTW the oil was dirty but level OK. I changed it mid trial but no difference. Any help would be great.

I've had my 250 Pro now for 4 months and ride it 2 or 3 times a week the motor runs really sweet now with the 33 pilot jet but the question is the compression in kickstarting. It's like I have to stand on the kick to get it to fire up which it does easynow but it just seems to take a lot of effort which can be a pain in stuck up a section situations. Can I expect the motor to loosen up,in relation to kickstarting,I've seen the gasket mod on the GGUK site to lower compression, anybody done this? I was watching Raga Fajardo and other GG pilots yesterday at the Urbain Trial in Cahors and apart from them being just awesome to watch when it comes to kickstarting it 's just a no …

Help Help! I just got home from my second trials. When I removed the seat on my bike (1998 TX270) to clean the mud off, I found a rubber line just a layin in there! It looks as if it comes off the crankcase, has a protective spring around it, and runs up towards the carb or rear brake resevoir. I know the one end goes to the crankcase (only cuz' it was still hooked), but where does the other end go? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if I need to describe it alittle better, please let me know Thanks Rob

My front suspension works great and i have 1/6 sag on it... To get the rear sag i have to use alot of preload on the spring....i only have 1/2 inch left to the bottom of the threads on the shock..... Is that bad in any way ?? Best regards Christian
