Hey guys, just found your site. I'm real close to picking up a Gas Gas 280 or 300 pro from a local dealer but I have a few questions. First off I normally ride my Ktm 250SX in the woods and MX track days. Works great on the track, real rough in the woods around here as they are filled with steep rocky hill climbs and tight technical riding. I'm thinking that the trials bike would be great for my single track stuff. My main concern is how well the bike will perform when I hit the open fire roads. I fully realize the bikes are not built for speed but where do they top out at in 6th gear ? Fuel consumption. How far can I go on less than 1 gallon of fuel ? I saw on another …

My clutch is dragging a bit so I am going to strip it and check the thickness and replace the plates to the right thickness, 9.75mm I believe. Just wanted to know what is the best stuff to clean the friction plates with and what is a big no no. Did the dextron route and it made a big difference but stil a slight drag hence the strip down. Any help would be great.

I don't know if i am having the same problem as the post 'clutch cleaning' but since changing my oil on my TXT Pro 280 the clutch is dragging. It has always slightly dragged but now with the clutch pulled fully in with the bike in gear, you need to hold on quite a bit to stop the bike riding off. I tried adjusting the lever slightly with no luck. So i removed the fluid resevoir cover (which didn't seem to be sealing very well) but could'nt see any fluid. How much should be in there and what type? The manual i have simply says to check the level! Thanks in advance for any advice. neil

I've just abandoned the BETA ship, and jumped aboard the GasGas vessel! Have just bought a 1995 250 Contact - Yes, its 10 years old, an oldie.... but a goodie! have noticed on quite a few, the little computer doesnt work. have replaced the battery on mine, as it too didnt work, and its all on, but the wires on the back arent connected. i know its pretty useless, but its there, so it'd be nice for it to work. any ideas where the wires go? its very similar to the computers you get for bicyles, which, i seem to remember have a little magnet on the spokes to register the speed, there isnt anything on this one. if no joy, at least the clock works on it! cheers for any he…

I've stripped the wiring out of my 2001 TXT today, but I have a slight problem in that I now only have one wire to the thermostat that I presume switches the fan on! The blue wire is still there but the yellow wire ran into the loom to the handlebars! Where should I connect the other terminal of the thermostat? Should I just find a live feed? The machine starts and runs fine but it's just this one problem..... Any help greatly appreciated.

From this page... PS I have an 04 300Pro, so it has me wondering... http://www.gasgasmotos.es/eng/frame.htm (not sure maybe they copied this directly from the 04 page?) But it would seem that they have updated the clutch once again? Wonder what EXACTLY ALL parts they changed, if so? Plus now I would be confused, the 'mineral oil' used in the clutch hydralics? is that in 05 only, maybe overseas only? luckily I havent had the problem like in the past with knocking banjo fitting around, causing air to get in it... but surely I will at some point, just as before... so I need to know if I need new fluid to keep on hand, ya know. Anyone out there know?

my 125 gas gas '98 has a noisy bottom end , sounds like big ends, Where is the best place to get this sorted, and how much ?

  15. Started by subira,

I've just been reading the Trials Competition article on the 'Lightning Special', really impressive piece of work, but you have to wonder how much it has really cost to reduce the weight of a standard Raga Replica by 11lbs ? Lots of the parts are off the shelf, but I'm sure the machining of the forks and the titanium front pipe bumped the price up. I make that a new 'dry' weight of an impressive 61.45Kgs - must be like riding a heavy bicycle Makes me wonder at what point is light, too light ? Should I go on a diet ?, it's going to be a lot cheaper than spending any money on my bike

I decide that trial would be excellent think to try and I bought used 2004 GAS GAS 300. I ride enduro and this would be good way to improve my bike handling skills. It is in excellent condition and I would like to keep it that way. I have question about gear box oil. I am member of KTMTalk.com and there is also section about trial. Some guys there recommend special oil for gear box, because of the unique diaphragm clutch setup in GG pro

Hiya, I wonder whether anyone can help here, I have just taken delivery of a 2002 280 TXT and it appears to be weeping gearbox oil after about 2 hours of running. You know the leak which is just enough top be annoying but not enough to cause to many problems, anyway rather than removing the engine and stripping it (can't see any obvious place for the leak) I wondered whether it is model specific to weep in certain places, or are some seals weaker than others. Any help would be greatly appreciated Calv'
