Gas Gas

Checked the clutch hub today on my '04 280 pro and noticed that there is a reasonable amount of movement in the whole assembly. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a certain amount of movement in the whole clutch basket? (It's more than I imagine would be tolerence but less movement than an imminent failure!). There are no loose bolts - feels like the whole unit is moving as one piece. If not, I have a feeling that the needle roller bearing that's in behind the hub (the one serving the primary shaft and fixed in the crankcase itself) is probably worn. If it is this bearing, does anyone know if you need special extractor tools to remove it and generally if it's a …

Just getting down to some maintenance, and i've noticed that the rear wheel isn't central between the swing/arm, are the snail cams accurate?i've also noticed that the tyre has been hitting the rear pipe! Also is there an idiots guide to setting chain tension? - with trials and not MX we seem to be spoilt with having a chain tensioner!

I've just replaced the fork seals on my JTX270 which was a doddle but how do I refil the forks with oil? I presume you unscrew the big hex nut at the top of each leg but there is a screw of some kind off to one side. Does that need to be removed first?

had the chance to swap my 02 sherco and a 96 gas gas for a 03 250 pro,so what are the 03's like compared to a sherco, reliable? also what engine do you think i should get the 250 or 280 i like an engine that can plodder on in sections but with plenty of power to pull 4th up hills will a 250 pull 4th up hills? and alot of people said the 280's are really savage just to foget about them. and is it all 03's with the crap air box on? or should i just forget about the gas gas and get another 03 or 04 sherco 250 or 290? thanks colly

I'm thinking of 'Pimping Up My Ride' - but don't want to dress it up as a later model. Has anyone ever managed to contact the Trialstar folks and get info on their graphics ? I've tried a few emails but I don't get a response - maybe someone has told them how badly I ride

Hi I purchased a txt 280 last week and had a couple of sessions, now i'm getting down to some maintenance, thanks to the forum i'm putting in some ATF dexron111, approx 450ml has gone in to the oil level sight glass, however i have measured the oil that i removed and it amounts to 720ml !!. Previously With the engine running i had difficulty in selecting neutral and had presumed it was a worn clutch, i have now tried it with 450ml and its going into neutral ok. My worry is how long the muppet i had brought it from had used the gas gas and does anyone think it would have caused any damage?. The idle also now seems lower !!!

i have a gasgas 2003 and i have discovered that mud and dirt keeps getting through into the airbox. this has caused me to have a completely new engine costing a lot of money. i was just seeing if anybody else has had the same problem or anything alike. is this a main fault with the 2003model?

Hi Is there such a thing as a owners or workshop manual for the gas gas. For instance there are adjusters on top of the forks, (ideal settings) etc. And others for the novice, tyre pressures, oil mix ratio and it seems that Castrol tts is popular? Any help would be great. Found a good site today http://www.trialstrainingcenter.com/html/how_to_ride.html cheers

This bike is starting to really get on my nerves. 2003 250pro mint condition and a joy to ride when I can. Rode it last night all was great, just up and down the road to check it out. Loaded it up this morning at 6.30 am and all is great, Drive 35 miles unload and get ready to ride and the "swear word" gear lever has gone awol . During the obvious extreme loads placed on it whilst on the trailer it fell off. Unlike most bikes there is no retention groove in the gear shaft so if it comes at all loose it will just fall off. Considering I rode it last night it certainly was not obviously loose. After all the weetaking about the smart bike I can't ride I had to just pack up …

Having made the jump from MX I am thoroughly enjoying my 280txt '03 edition . Heres my question - as Scotland , where I live , is p***ing with rain most of the year , its hard to avoid steams , rivers etc . What are the best measures I can take to protect my bike from water ingress etc . As the airbox sits in front of the back wheel I feel a bit uneasy about this and I am sure that some of you must have a view on this . All other ' water riding ' tips appreciated !! Thanks again team - Barry

Just curiouse to know, seen advertised "extra fly-wheel weights" for the Gas Gas Pro series bikes, has anybody tried them, what are they like to fit, and more importantly, do they work ? I have ridden a few Gasser 250's, and although i stalled them a few times, felt it was more of a case of getting used to the engine. Gaff.
