When there is sidecar trials action in prospect there is always a risk of a threat from Manx crews - here is a selection of them, spotted at the recent sidecar championship round at Fellbeck. Photo; Offroad Archive

The Mel Harrison sidecar national, the ninth in the series, ran on without a hitch after after weeks of heavy rain on Sunday at Kingstone Farm, Fellbeck. The twenty-eight crews applied themselves to the task admirably and were rewarded by opportunities to take points that will keep the championship alive. In the Experts Championship class Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes showed real class throughout the thirty seven sections. Their Wessex TRS just stopping in three sections, one of which, Holly Tree, stopped the entire entry when a huge step with little juggling room had them all beaten. But Norman Shepherd let all the riders complete their first lap then moved in with a s…

For some reason the Mel Harrison sidecar national trial this weekend seems to lack interest in the sidecar fraternity despite the fact that a month ago the decision was taken NOT to run the event at Cockhill Mines, Greehow in the interests of safety. Cockhill is not exactly user friendly towards three wheelers. An approach was made to Norman Shepherd at Fellbeck to stage the trial on his acres, to which Norman promptly gave the nod. With a fine mixture of streams, woodland, rocks, and grassy climbs and gullies, wet and dry over a lap distance of almost two miles all off road the venue is ideal being three miles from Pateley Bridge town centre. Just TEN …

Sidecar entries for this years trial MUST be sent in ASAP so the committee can continue to plan the event. Everything is in place, the routes have been decided and all that is needed now is for you guys to lick that stamp and stick the entry form in the post. Alternatively, visit our website www.manx2day.co.uk and go to the entries page. Here you can enter online via the ACU online entries page. Without the riders and passengers the event wont be the same. REMEMBER, book you travel and accommodation ASAP. Any queries, do not hesitate to contact us on manx2daytrial@hotmail.com

Calling all sidecar crews! The Norfolk & Suffolk group are again running the popular East of England charity trial on the 21st June 2015. But this time will be including sidecars on two routes. The venue is The Trials Park, Corton, Suffolk, NR32 5LE. Situated between the seaside towns of Gt Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Camping is available at the venue over the hole weekend. We have a small but strong sidecar following within the Eastern Centre. But would love to see a good entry of crews to show off the skills of sidecar trials to a new group of trials enthusiasts.

Thought I'd share my new sidecar outfit. I made the chair as a close copy of a Rushton a colleague lent me that he uses with a Montesa. Tubing is 19mm x 1.6 and 25mm x 2.5mm. Chair wheel lead is 10.0''. Shock is from Falcon. Wheel hub is an unknown brand with 20mm ID bearings. Rim is 17'' x 1.2'm Honda Cub with tyre to suit. Brake is Hope. Swing arm is on nylon bushes and bronze sleeved shaft - thought I'd try without roller bearings and see how long it lasted...at least it won't seize with rust! Bike is a 2002 Gasgas 250 Pro. First outing last weekend was entertaining to say the least. Hope to do some club trials at Mansfield Maun and see how we get on...

Hi guys Got rl250 with a bolt on chair, just wondering what people use for a passenger foot peg on the swing arm and where I can get the grab handles from. Rope type or whatever is used. It's not going to be competitive, just for a bit of fun. Cheers
