Hello, new to this forum and have searched this subject but didn't find any info specific to my issue. Bike runs Ok on level and uphill but starves for fuel and quits on descents. It initially runs fine on downhill but after a few seconds runs out of fuel, pulling the choke lever brings it back to life. So, it looks to me like the float level is too low and as it runs downhill its burning off enough fuel to starve. I've pulled the carb and checked the float level. Spec is 23.5 to 24.5 mm. It's currently at 26.1 mm. So the difference between actual and high side of spec is about 1/8" (old school). Thinking this is likely the issue but wondering if there is anything else i…

Being a bit of a short a***, I'd like to lower the suspension on a 4ride. Anyone had any experience of this or have any suggestions? Also would there be any issue in putting forks and shock from a 4rt on it? Cheers

Hi. I have a Montesa Cota 315 1999. F Brake master cyl is a Grimeca I like to go practice pivot turns in the back yard. But recently after doing them, the front brake goes to the handlbar and i have to pump it to get something back. It happens every time I do them. I've bled the system, wound the adjuster right out, rebled. Checked the caliper and all that. But its still doing happening. (the brake stays firm when I'm just noodling about but when I go back to the pivots I lose pressure again) There are no leaks that I can see. Now reaching the final stages of a loooong restoration of a 248. I want to make up a simple wiring loom in order to get a 'no lights' MOT. So this question is not specifically about the 248, but a wiring question in general. So I have: Black going to coil, Green going to horn via a button on the L/H handlebar. Red going to condenser (now mounted up and under the tank). This is the question: I have a button on the R/H handlebar that I want to wire as a kill button. my recently bought 348 was missing the front brake torque arm.No problem I thought, 2 on ebay both saying for 348 both 5155.050 .Got one and it does not fit! seems to be too long. Whats happened.Could be getting the grinder and welder out.

OK im at front wheel refitting times, and i have these two spacers on the spindle. Everything was kept together so these two did come off, but dont seem to fit correctly. Does the one with a lip fit inside the fork leg ? Both are slightly different outside diameters which seems odd. Does the spindle pull up tight to them before nipping clamp up ? Montesa diagram is useless so hope someone can help. Cheers Mark

The 247 persists leaking ATF when running - fluid is leaking through the underslung clutch actuator pivot, where the arm meets the engine case (it's an early model). Anyone able to shed light on what type of seal is needed before I pull it apart... just hoping to save time and order the necessary before starting the job? Thanks again, in advance. CW

Hi all. Can someone tell me if the back box on a 349 (year around 1980?) is the only part that needs a decoke? That flattened part of the exhaust under the tank, does that contain baffles too? How would both be done? Bike starts and idles great after a thorough carb clean and rebuild, but feels like the baffles are blocked on wide throttle openings. I've done the caustic soak and a blowtorch up it's back box, but I'm still having an issue when get on the power.

Thanks to Jimmyl for offering Richard Allen as having a set of forks for the Montesa 315r. I contacted Richard on September 4th and he does or did have a set of forks and gave me a price. He also gave me a price for postage and provided a bank account number to send payment. I required an invoice showing all charges, I know what the item and postage is but dont know if any taxes or other possible fees. I've just bought an MH349 and the lock stops are the fork tubes hitting the edge of the plastic tank. I am certain my novice attempts at trials will see the tank split at some stage. Anyone got a parts manual or failing that, a picture of how/what lockstops should be on the bike please? TIA John M

Afternoon Guys. Exhausted my limited ability troubleshooting and in need of advice. 315r 2001 Sea level Pbhl26 Pilot jet 36 Main 110 Needle one notch from bottom. Fuel screw 2 out. Dual stage boysens Large opening air box lid. All restrictors removed before I got it. 2 issues possibly connected. Hunting idle. 1/8 throttle and il happily chug along smoothly but no throttle and it will chug erratically surging and dying. Worse with a richer mixture. Also taking a while for revs to die down after blipping throttle and front firing Improved with a richer mixture. Checked for air leaks and all good outside. Flywheel is tight with zero play. Hi, Just looking at returning to my 349 after 6 months of working on an old British bike. My bike has a wiring loom that is a little tatty. It has an aftermarket switch but didn't have any lights. I have bought aftermarket front and rear lights and managed to wire them in and my electrical knowledge is all but non existant! All appears to work but when the revs rise the bulbs blow. How is the voltage regulated? I need the lights for an mot. Thanks for looking. Neil

Hello, I've recently purchased a 348/349 montesa cota! The frame number is 51m20333 and the engine number is 51m00221. Can anybody help identify what model and what engine it has? I want to buy the correct sized carburetor for it as it runs very poor! Cheers.

Hi All My 79 Montesa 250 Enduro H6 is leaking oil from the kick starter. I have found the part number for the seal, but not sure how to replace it? Do I need to just take the side cover off, or split the whole main case? TIA
