Montesa

  1. Started by montesa pierre,

Can I fit a counter balance weight from a 349 onto a 248 Crankshaft. The 248 has a part no 5160 171 02, whilst the 349 part no is 5160 171 03 Failing the conversion can anybody suggest where I can obtain a new or second hand 248 counter balance weight. Thank you.

Anyone know where i can get a set, they appear to be uncommon sizes, although i have put new sealed bearings in so could refit the old ones.

hello, ive been away from trials for a number of years now, but am looking to make a return. My brother has just bought a 300rr, and it seems a bit more sharp off the bottom than I remember my old 4rt was, but it was while ago.. The suspension was excellent tho, I have to say, front and back. I had a couple of 4rt's before , a 2005 and a 2008 model. my 2005 was a better bike, because it was newer to me and had seen less abuse than the 08. I was looking at the 4rts and noticed things havnt changed much outwardly. Ive also done a bit of reading up and most opinions are to go with a repsol as it has better suspension and rims. however, I am on a budget, i.e i…

Not been riding my 4RT for 3-4 months and went out to re-try a few sections that I did, at a recent Trial, that I cleaned on my other 2T bike Tried on the 4RT and would it grip, no it bloody wouldn't - even with a brand new tyre............. on muddy hillsides and woodland type sections Grr, I find the front end has a mind of its own sometimes too Rocks, fine Streams fine Mud/Banks..........nope

S3 manufacture a replacement high level enduro mudguard for the 4 Ride, but at £100 plus it's seriously more costly than buying standard bodywork from the likes of UFO, Polisport, etc. Has anyone had experience of making the change using a generic motocross type mudguard? I'm happy to pay the price for their gear selector kit, considering the engineering involved, but 100 quid for a plastic fender just doesn't seem right.

Hi thinking of buying a new montesa 4RT but carnt decide which model, is it worth paying the extra £££ for a RR and what’s the main difference between the 2 bikes apart from the 301 having the bigger motor, how do they both ride and would the RR be too much for a clubman rider? thanks

Who would people regard as good 4RT problem solvers and repair ? I've tried all the usual bits (good spark) but I suspect fuel supply related problems. Based in Northallerton North Yorks.

  10. Hi all, As the title, i have a 315 but was thinking of modernising it and freshening it up with a 4rt rear mudguard. I have seen pics of bikes with them on so i know its do-able, but how?? Obviously it will need to be cut down at the front, and a hole drilled for the top bolt to go through but does the rear subframe need modifying to accept the rear fastening points? Thanks for any advice!

Hello everyone, I recently added a cota 49 to my stash of Montesa’s. Does anyone on here have one and could send me some photos of their bike so I can figure out where some of the frame brackets go and other parts. The bike came in a box and I am trying to repiece it together. Thanks!

Hi Folks, Relatively new to the trials scene, bought a 1 year old Montesa 4RT 260 Cota 2018. Intrested to know people's service intervals. I know the manual recommends oil change every 15 hours but the guy in the shop recommended every 4/5 hours?? How often would you change the oil/filter and transmission oil? Any other important maintenance tips? any gaskets or 'O' rings? Kind regards,
