Hi, I have a 2002 Mont 315r - completely new to this sport For the clutch plates should these be all fibre as I have been given a set by a friend and these are a fibre pack or should I be using a certain combination of plates. i.e fibre & cork etc. I have counted 7 plates on my Mont which are fairly worn hence the change but due to the wear I cant work out the correct type. Also can the clutch lever be operated to test the clutch action whilst the gubbings are stripped out of the basket? I.e will any dot 4 leak out? Could someone be so kind to explain. Thanks Welly

If you are like me, you find the weak links on bikes pretty quick. To me our 4rt footpeg pin set up leaves some room for improvement. If your in the USA or Canada and want to setup your bike like this contact me and I'll help you out. These are aircraft grade AN bolts and there is no threads where there shouldn't be, like under the hanger or footpeg. See pics for what I'm talking about. This is a 300rr with CSP hangers but the bolts are available in any size pretty much.

Built my first trials bike in 2002-3 in the UK. Bought it as a tatty rusty runner in the normal Montesa red colour. A mate sold it in 04-05 after i had emigrated. A Montesa 247 Cota. Powdercoated silver frame with a posh blue paint job done by a pro painter friend of mine. Blue gaitors, lots of polished alloy, fresh plated parts like k/start etc, new stainless fasteners, new white plastic guards, new rear shocks. New Renthal bars and blue Renthal grips. Looked stunning. Just wondering if any inmate has ever seen it or even owns it. Cheers.

So here goes the story. Bike was lightly rinsed with water after riding (with garden hose - to remove chunkier pieces of mud) and later started so it dried out. Then It was stored for a year or so. When I attempted to start it there was no life in it - no spark. All coils were checked via resistance test and were OK (according to values in users manual) apart from pick-up coil which was bad (infinite resistance). Seems like some water came in stator department via hole for breather tube and damaged pick-up coil. But then again bike was never easy to start anyway.. New pick-up coil was fitted but the problem persists, only now it throws spark from time to time rando…

Hi, I'm having a problem with clutch drag on my 1981 Cota 200 and would appreciate some advice. I recently had the motor repaired (a kickstart bush collapsed and fell into the gearbox) and clutch was out of the motor for a few months while the motor was split. Since putting the motor back in the bike and getting it going again the clutch has been dragging (by drag I mean if I put it in gear with the clutch in, it will creep forward). While the clutch was out I replaced the clutch springs with new ones but they made the clutch very hard to pull in so I've put the originals back. I've had them checked for pressure and reassembled it pairing the springs to try to ensure th…

Hi , I want a spare rear wheel for my Mont 4RT, it’s a Repsol. Would those in the know recommend buying a built wheel or buy the parts and assemble? I ask as a quick search of built units seem to yield mainly Jitsie and if I’m spending a chunk then I want the right product. I know the originals are DID, is there any point looking at OEM? It would be good to know what others have done and recommend. Thanks, Reg

Hi, I have a slight problem with my 247. It developed a fault recently. It starts no problem but will not rev out. It will pull fine on low throttle openings but when under load it just dies out. I have cleaned out the carburettor and replaced the jets and the float. It has electrex ignition and I was wondering if it may be the spark breaking down at higher revs. If so, is it possible to check for this ?

I have recently (last week) bought a Montesa Cota 348 Malcolm Rathmell Replica. It is alleged to be of 1976 vintage. The frame and engine numbers are matching 51M 1*** yes there are only four numbers after the 51M which denotes a 348. This bike has not been registered for the road. I trolled about on the infernal web but can only find production numbers and type reference designations, but no actual year data. I am assuming that my 348 is one of the first for 1976, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have visited ToDoTrial but no success there, I have not bothered In Motion for info yet hoping some one here can help.

When I bought my 4rt I was told it had a lifetime dog bone or something like that but needless to say it needs new bearings, is this possible or is it a new dog bone?

I finished the rebuild on my 247 a few months ago, dropped a bit of fuel in it and rode it around the back yard then put it away in the shop with a view to sell it. I figured one ride at my 74 years was enough for this old body. A friend wanted to have a look at it (the bike, not the old body) and to my dismay the paint on the fuel tank had bubbled in several places. I had sealed and refinished the tank, so expected it would be good. This bike had been worked hard, then sat out in the weather for 30 odd years before I got it and apparently our Australian sunshine didn't do the fiberglass any favors. After inspecting as much as I could I decided the only way to f…

Hey guys, I work at at Honda dealership and here in Canada there is a very limited amount of aftermarket brake pads available for my 2017 300rr. Any feedback from possible options? The front is a small amount of bikes that share the caliper, so there simply is zero aftermarket options avail here in Canada through the major suppliers. What options have you tried and prefer if I am to source out new pads online anyway. I've got a set of oem on order but the front cost is just triple what it should be for what it is. Gold Fren and galfer both seem to be the only options I've found, any others? Thanks, Jon
