Hey everyone, been reading countless reviews on starting methods and issues with montesa 4rt's. I purchased the bike a week ago use to start first time everytime when cold, once warm It took afair few kicks to starts. Other day I fitted an lanyard checked all the polarity was correct started the bike putted the lanyard and it cut out as it should. Ever since I have been unable toget it to start. It sparking good, fuel injector straying fuel fine. Air filter removed as it was an oiled. Throttle cable has no tension. Barrel has been pressure checked injector mounting bolts where found loose and rectified I have literally tried everything I can think of other then checking t…

A year or back I let my Fantic go and now thinking of another Post 80 bike to take its place, the logical option would be another FANTIC but I do fancy something different, a Montesa. I don't know too much about them what could people who do tell me about the 242, or the 330. I have read the kickstart is a little fragile, but are these realistic competitors to the Fantic, it wll be ridden on a middle route in trials so not easy but not stupidly hard also. Thanks

Has anyone, not necessarily moved them, but found a wider more modern alternative that fits without cutting and welding. Im use to Bultacos and they’re easy to move, but this little gem feels like your stood on a couple cocktail sticks. My memory is playing tricks on me as I remember them being a lot better the last time I rode one in the late 70s. Thanks everyone.

Ok folks, hate asking a question that’s been answered many times before, but I’ve looked back as far as 2016 and can’t find anything current on 348 carbs, so............ Ive just bought an early 348, I know they’re a bit Marmite, but it’s a nostalgia trip. It’s the last bike I rode competitively in about 1978 and I thought it’d be nice to relive my youth, also it’s never a problem adding another one to the collection ? She has the original Amal on at present. By the time I’ve replaced the slide, jets, etc, etc I’m half way to the cost of an Oko or similar. Someone since 2016 must have had this issue, researched the far end of all options and changed the carb o…

i have recently purchased a 1982 MH 349, however the from tyre rubs on the mudguard bracket unless it has 25psi in it, i don't know if the fork yokes are the wrong type? the forks are parallel at the top and bottom? is there are measurements that i could check as it may be the yokes of spacers missing or wrong on the front wheel hub?

It looks like I have 110mm between forks and approx. 145, centre of fork slide to centre, is this standard for a MH349?

Anyone know this highest rise trials fat bars, not Apico though. I have S3 World and my brother has Buffalo but to be honest there is little difference. Will Renthal or Tommi be any higher?

OK, so in the absence of a spark on my 247, I guess it's time to overhaul the ignition set-up... Motoplat system. I've purchased a flywheel puller, timing tool (plug type), points and condenser, but being new to the old-school points system fitted, I'm clueless as to how to proceed. Can someone clarify: 1: Rotate flywheel clockwise to fully open points, as viewed through flywheel 'slot'? 2: Remove flywheel using puller tool, then set points gap accordingly - what is the specified gap? 3: Insert timing tool in plug hole, then rotate flywheel clockwise (loosely refitted), until TDC is reached - then further rotate flywheel clockwise until the requir…

Ok so finally but the bullet and put a deposit on a 260 this morning. Been riding a 250T EXC for the last 3 years, mainly greenlaning and a Gasser TXT Pro before that. Want to carry on with the greenlaning so they are registering it for me, may do some local trials but intend to carry on using Wern Ddu as much as possible, but will be getting the taller seat and number plate fuel tank for a starter. So what else do I need to look out for and need to add? I’m not averse to a bit of bling and after reading just about the whole forum think i will get a better sump guard for a start. Over to you...

As above whats the thoughts for the 260? Jjust come out of a few years in Enduro and the DiD X Ring is a faultless chain, as good as it gets IMHO. Requires very little maintenance and with the two split links as supplied by Endurotyres it will last at least a year with little noticeable wear or stretch.

I've just joined the forum and I'm hoping that someone can advise me on how to remove the retaining nut on the front sprocket. Is it normal right hand thread or is it left handed and I'd there a way of locking the output shaft without damaging it when trying to undo the nut. All advise greatly welcome, cheers.

My 315 was running fine a while ago but has been sat for about 6 months due to a house move so when I recently started it up it didn't want to tickover so thought I'd clean the carb, did as I usually do cleaning the jets and put it back together, I noticed from the facebook page that the floats were upside down so turned them so the flats were to the top but it won't flow fuel at all like that and as best as i can measure it the float height is set at 18.5mm (don't have the tool but using a pair of calipers it looks close) so put them curved side up. start it up and it will sit happy on choke but take the choke off and it will rev cleanly but as it drops back down t…
