Im at the stage where its time to refit the exhaust, engine is in and its a rolling chassis. Do i have to start removing parts again ? as im getting nowhere fast and catching all the new paint. Does the cylinder head need to come back off ? Does the rear wheel need to come out ? Im sure when i dismantled the 348 it came out without doing so but was difficult. Hope someone out there has a solution. Cheers Mark

A quick search revealed nothing so here goes. Anyone had any luck replacing the water pump seal without splitting the case on a 4RT or the like? I hear rumors that is has been done but find nothing to back that up. I have the gaskets and such to split the case but I also have a trip pending this coming week and not a lot of time. I am hoping to be able to do the short fix then split the case and replace the oil seal as well once back from the trip.

Hi´ When i turn the throttle very fast to "full" speed, the engine take some RPM, but then it dies, sounds like "drowning" it simple stops if i keep holding the throttle on full. If i loose before it stops, it comes again. I changed the sparkplug, cleaned some electrial parts, and cleaned the air-filter, but it didn´t help. Any good advice is welcome :-) Poja.

Hi! First post. I have just bought a 2014 4RT Repsol after 30+ years away from trials. The kill switch on the bike did not work and I decided to fit a Apico lanyard type. When I disconected the old switch I have two wires from the bike under the tank, a green wire and a black with white tracer wire. The new Apico switch has a brown (with a round eyelet) wire and a black (with bullit end) wire. I connected green to brown and black/white to black. The bike starts ok but the magnetic kill does not work and the bike continues to run. Any clues please? many thanks.

Hi all, I'm after advice, I have recently purchased a new trials bike. (Montesa Cota). I am after as much information as possible. I haven't ridden or owned a bike for over 20 years.. I'm 52 years old and my old bike was a montesa that I used to just have fun times on.. I never competed just rode with few friends on weekend.. after feeling I want to ride again.. I want to know what is the standard format after use to keep my new bike in great condition.. like cleaning lubricating all the important parts and with what products to use.. Any information will be beneficial as I'm not very mechanical, Thanks in advance.

I'm about to buy a 2015 Montesa 4RT and noticed there is no lanyard ignition cut out on the handle bars but there is a cut out switch on the frame near the head stock, the present owner said it does not need the lanyard type because they are fitted with a tilt switch which cuts the ignition as soon as the bike falls over, is this correct and can they be relied on or should I fit a lanyard type to be on the safe side if so do I just couple it up to the same wires that go to the stop switch on the frame ,Thanks Steve.

Not too familiar with any of the 4t montesa's and im just getting back into trials. I had an 03 315 new and loved it and also appreciated the build and reliability of the honda side of it especially compared to my REV 3 I had after. I have an opportunity of buying a VERY tidy 2005 4rt and was wondering if anyone had info on what they are like especially as this is one of the first ones. Did they have any quirks which have since been ironed out? I know its now an old bike but this particular bike is at my price range but like new so makes it quite desirable. Spending the same money on a much newer bike would only give me something very "ridden". I dont thi…

Hello, im going through my 300rr from front to back, checking everything out, and have discovered that the rear linkage bearings were least greased, just before it left the factory lol. Needless to say the bearings and seals are toast, along with the top hat bushes. great...…. Looking at the linkage its had a hit to the side, a scrape, which would allow water in at the seal , which wouldn't have helped. I spotted the apico linkages , for 60 quid, complete with bearings and seals, and im gonna have to get a linkage anyway, so I suppose i'll just have to buy the bushes if I go down this route. Question is, has anyone used them? are they any good or w…

Just serviced the swing arm, linkage and shock bearings on my RT260 - just greased and re-installed. The bit of slop in the travel that was there since new is still there and I’ve pin-pointed the top shock bearing as where there is play. Back in my MX days I remember this was often where play occurred. is it just normal to have a bit of play here?
