  1. My lad and I ride in 3 clubs all of which uses the four coloured route markers for easy route clubman and so on, one club will use white markers for clubman, another club uses white markers for easy route, the other club uses white markers for youth c etc, when walking the sections you have to keep tabs on what club your riding and what colours they use, next week another club different colours ( oh s--t I should have followed yellow) happens sometimes usually on the first lap, so a standard format would be ideal for us seniles
  2. Hi guys, a group of us went to Tom's farm two weeks ago had no trouble getting in loads of bikers there, going again mid September, yeah sometimes the police are there but go back an hour later they don't sit there all day. I think it's a great place took the trials bike once but it's really a MX ENDURO type place, the courts have been trying to close Tom's farm for the last three years as I believe he hasn't declared all his earnings but he tells me he intends to remain open what ever, and I hope he does as it's total biker freedom along with fantastic scenery.
  3. Another thing that causes piston slap which I had on a 270 gas gas was, that the chrome had worn away at the bottom of the barrel making it sound like the little ends had gone, had the barrel re-chromed and new piston it was so quiet and increased the power of the engine considerably, as mentioned above take the head and barrel off and check all parts.
  4. I would go for a beta 80 as they are more manageable, a 125 is the next stage up and quite abit more powerful, if I am right she would have to be aged 12 to compete on a 125
  5. Thanks for the replies you guys, keep them coming in. The American centre looks interesting but would cost a fortune just to get there. The Spanish centre looks good but unfortunately they don't hire bikes as yet. I will keep looking cheers Paul
  6. My lads rev 80 developed a whurring whining noise from the clutch along with a shrill type squealing sound that got worse under load or higher revs, taking the clutch casing off I found small metal filings at the bottom of the casing, it turned out to be the clutch/gear drive cogs were worn so I replaced them, problem solved. this may not be the problem with yours but worth checking maybe.
  7. Just read my e-mails, my local trials club tells me that the EU are seriously proposing that full face helmets must be worn for next season 2011, I mean wtf a full face helmet is restricting to vision and listening to revs of your motor apart from looking stupid, of all the years of being involved with trials riding wearing an open faced helmet why change it, I have only ever seen one bad accident in that time and that was the poor guys legs, what next ? should we be wearing a space type suit for 2012, what do you guys think.
  8. Hi, does anybody know of an off road guided tour company or small group that will accept myself and my 11 year old son for a trail ride over a weekend or a week, whether it be in the U.K. or prefferably abroad, my lad has been riding a motorbike from the age of three, he has been riding trials competitions from the age of six, done abit of motocross and throws a 400 quad around like a toy, yet I am struggling to find a tour company that will accept him (usually it's insurance being the downfall) it's weird that he can be in a line up of 20 plus bikes in a motocross event at the age of six, going flat out and banging elbows with other riders yet we can't do a leisure trail ride anywhere, the nearest I have found is that he can be a passenger at the age of twelve, so if any one knows of any where it would be much appreciated. Beta Rev 80

My son's rev 80 has developed a clutch screech, the clutch works fine doesn't slip or drag just makes a noise, having looked through all 112 pages on this forum I haven't found the answer to this problem has anybody had the same and found a solution ? I am considering putting new plates in it but not sure whether to put standard plates or go for heavier plates (is there much difference) also whether to put stronger clutch springs at the same time. Any info would be appreciated.
  11. I agree with Stork955 I wouldn't want to do this as a maintenance thing I would only do it when the brakes fail, a couple of little tips I found useful was when you disconnect the brake fluid hose tie it up as high as you can it may stop the brake fluid draining out saving you alot of bleeding ( and swearing ) it worked on mine. The other thing I found useful should you have a piston that's fully pushed home, or tight in the caliper, is to insert an expanding rawlbolt that just fits inside the piston I use a 12mm rawlbolt, tighten the rawlbolt up with a spanner until it grips the piston then with the spanner you should be able to turn, twist, pull and push the piston with little effort and with no damage.
  12. I had this problem just recently and I had changed the brake fluid, in my case two of the four pistons in the caliper were not returning at all, I split the caliper on mine and took the pistons out, I made sure all the fluid ports were clear, I carefully took out the o rings in the caliper and washed them suprising how much grime came off, cleaned all inside the caliper especially where the o rings fit, I lightly sanded the pistons to remove any other grime lubricated all the parts and re assembled it, fitted the caliper bled it been no problem since. I hope this helps in some way, I put my sticking brakes down to the grime around the pistons.

    Beta Cream

Thanks for the replies you guys, looks like a strip down in the water pump area is needed I will post the outcome when it's sorted for the benefit of others with the same problem.

    Beta Cream

The bike is a 2003 beta 250 rev 3, I am using Putoline mx 5 two stroke oil, mixing a ratio of 70:1 which doesn't seem to be alot of oil for the amount of white stuff that it's producing, but a good point that I will have to check, cheers

    Beta Cream

While servicing my 250 Beta, I checked the water in the rad only to find it was full of what I can only describe as a thick white cream, I disconnected the hoses from the main engine block and flushed out the rad as best I could while it was on the bike, as there are no signs of this cream around the engine block I connected the hoses filled it up and started the engine, this white cream still appears in considerable amounts at the filler cap, my first thoughts were oil getting in the water but from where I don't know, the engine starts and runs fine no excessive smoke or anything, has anybody else had this ? what is the cause and what is the cure, any thoughts would bo appreciated, cheers.
  16. I totally agree with the above, have been riding bike for years and love the sound of them, if electric is the way we are going then I will look to a different sport, further more can electric really compete with what we have as now.
  17. Hunts Falcons, Cowl Lane Nr Cambridge was always enjoyable, small stream, a pond and wet sloshy mud and a good crowd to go with it. some of you may remember, it was back in the 80's
  18. And thats how I think it should be as well.
  19. Yes it was actually, (wasn't you was it ? lol )
  20. Yes I know, which is the point I am trying to make any other peg would be 5 so why is it not the back spindle that completes the section.
  21. Your quite right, if the end cards had been further away the rider would have received a 5, I had to mark him as clean where as other riders completed it with ease, but I have seen other similar circumstances i.e. front wheel out the gate back wheel flattened the peg, can you see where I am coming from.
  22. For all the years I have been involved in trials either riding or observing I have never really come to terms with the ruling that once the front spindle of a bike has passed the end section pegs it's classed as section completed, just recently whilst observing a section a rider entered the start gate rode the section so far with a clean, the section end pegs was at the top of a bank which was wet and slippy the rider managed to get his front wheel past the end pegs, but with his back wheel still spinning slid back down into the section, the rider pushed the bike out of the section, as I looked to a club official who was watching he said I have to mark the rider as clean, now I'm sure we have all seen similar situations so why is it not the back spindle that deems the section end, should the rule be changed ?
  23. The Gas Gas TXT 50 that we had did have a Minerelli engine fitted, and what a load of rubbish it was, a Gas Gas dealer told me the best place for it was a skip. But I believe the 80 cc was a gas gas engine.
  24. Thanks for the reply Jason, that's clear enough for me and once again thanks for not stopping us using your land over the last few years.
