    TY 250 1985

Just called the owner and it seem's that the bike is an 84 Canadian model, but from what you ( Marky G ) tell me they are good fun bikes. What about parts avalability? I own a TY250A and had no problem finding what I need to keep it running. Guy

    TY 250 1985

I would like to have your inputSSS on a TY250 1985 ( Canada ). Any good or bad comments are welcome, handling, power band, are parts hard to find etc IF you have one, had one or want one I would like to hear from you. Guy
  4. I run 2% ( 50/1 ) in my ty250a with good motorcycle oil and it is still a little ritch, but no fouled plugs and it start on 2nd kick cold and 1st when hot. If you have been running that mixture for a while, you will probably have to clean your pipe. Guy
  5. As anybody tried to install TY 250B/C/D crankcase cover left and right on a TY 250A. Do they fit or do I have to change the flywheel ? Guy
  6. I would defenitely look toward the gas side before anything else.:Tap fron the thank OK, as idmcc_sec suggested fuel filter or maybe floats not well adjusted in the Mikuni. You can run the motor until it start to loose power immediately shut the tap and the motor and check if there is gas in the float chamber.
  7. Ok guy's. Up to this point my TY250a that is SO ugly is rumming quite well thank's to your advise. I added 8mm shim in the front fork lately witch make the set up confortable for me. Now I would like to replace the gas thank for a smaller unit but for the moment I don't want to invest to much in the thank as new shock next on the list. I know that a good replacement thank for a 175 TY is a MX 125 unit. Is there a model of tank that would fit the ty 250? Guy
  8. Hey Wombat, the same thing happend to me with a dirt track bike, before anything unplug the kill switch ( and make sure no wire are ground ) and try to strat it. I was lucky the kill switch was the problem. Guy
  9. If you install 340mm shock or move the top atachement to improve rear wheel travel, doyou make any change to the front fork? Guy
  10. I guy's , took my 250A out from the basement today, It started right up but it seem that it only want to run with the choke on, maybe the float is not well ajusted will check that tomorow. First trial comp off the season sunday ( first in 30 some years ) I hope I will have the problem fixed. What happend when you put a DT piston in a TY 250 A? Has anybody tried? Guy
  11. I Rhodewarrior, I have in the shed a CANADIAN original 493 ( 1976 ), I don't know how to post pictures but if you are able to give me your email I can send you quite a few picture that I took this fall since I want to sell the moto. Guy

What is the serial numer of your TY, i am from Canada ( Qu
  13. Ok guy's, here what is puzzling me : when you increase the rear wheel travel by instaling longer shock and/or moving the top anchor point does it change the balance of the machine, as I told before, I always tought that the front end of the TY was '' heavy ''. Guy
  14. Thank's Frank, I have pirnted ALL the post to make sure not to lose any advise from you guy's. One question is the motor raised in your frame? Guy
  15. Well guy's the more I read the more I'm puzzled, I have 2 434 frames and a b model in the shed all 3 of them with original shock ( 315 mm ), and same configuration. It seem that 340 mm shock is the thing to get, unfortunatly I have never been able to try a mod TY neither SEEN a modified TY much less a Majesty frame, here in Qu
  16. Many thanks for the info. I am reading Frank's questions and the reply, and I am very interested since I am preparing a 434 model for this spring: engine done (new rod kit, piston, ring, bearings and seals ) no autolube that Mikuni carb mention earlier, footrest repositions , the 360 DT piston job will be the next fall project. Will the shock mount position on the D model that Frank is preparing be the same that on my A model that as never been modified? Guy
  17. I am new to this site and to had to the pleasure !!! I am a french Canadian, so please forgive me for amy wrong spelling or maybe using the wrong term. I was reading the post on putting a DT 360 piston in place of the 70 mm std, do you have to install a DT sleeve in place of the original one, and also I have heard that they use the same 26 mm carburator is it ok? I am planning to replace the original carburator, I whant to install a VM Mikuni, am I going in the rite direction. I have been out off the trial world for 3..some75aaebab35af9c8d3975e2dc20c91d8f years.
