  1. There isn't anyone interested in doing the work for that price, I know it's pricey and it's not like they scratch build them, just cut the top off and weld a new flat top on, but clearly, it's not worth the aggro for them unless they charge what they do. I've got a mitani one, the bike looks so much better with it, it just depends how much you want one really, or wait for a used one to come up, but they go very quickly.

    4Rt Big Bore Kits

Go for the 280 mitani kit, easily fitted, no mods, the 300 and 320 heads need crank case mod, for not much more go, unless you fit the new injector. Twin map TB is recommended and I'd go for the 27 or 30 mm header pipe and mitani titanium silencer to complement the extra breathing the 280 needs, gives more torque too, also sounds nicer without more noise ( actually it sound quieter) and is about half the weight of the original. The Termignoni header and carbon silencer gives more power, is almost as light as the mitani and sounds TDB's. If you Have a spare £2k floating about, you won't be disappointed.
  3. Trials I've observed at that don't have punch cards, have a much happier atmosphere, I certainly feel less stressed. Riders should not be allowed to ask the observer what they've been given.
  4. I have not been to a trial yet, in 32 years I've been a fan, as a rider, spectator or observer, watching club, national and world champs, has there not been some form of cheating/rule bending going on, by riders, minders, observers and even spectators. From kicking logs, rocks, or just tramping and kicking the surface how the rider wants it. Going backwards, stoping, moving markers etc, etc, etc. This from the clubman rider right up to the best in the world, it happens at every trial, at every level, we, the riders get away with it 99% of the time, every now and then, we don't, the observer, observes to the rule and says no, you can't do that, very rarely does it go any further than that. But if you break the rules and get caught, you may regret it, so don't do it. Simples. I am at awe at the skill of any rider, who rides above my level (which is just about everyone) and don't doubt the best will always win, but I think it's fair to say, the boundaries of the rules, have more than likely been stretched a bit along the way, by them all, wether intentionally, by accident or luck ;0) IMHO, it is pointless to point fingers at anyone, unless you can step forward and honestly say you are whiter than white. Trials is mostly an amature sport, run by volunteers, almost wholly participated by amature sportsmen and women. For all its faults, (and im not trying to defend or condone them) I still love trials, enjoy riding, watching and observing, life is too short, play nicely and enjoy :0). Whatever went on, I really feel sorry for Michael Brown.
  5. Shouldn't that be, Honda and Yamaha, seeing as the two top Japanese riders ride for these companies.
  6. So why aren't they fielding a team?
  7. Spies rides with a rock solid suspension setup (virtually no travel), which is unlike most other riders. I'd say some of his problems have been bad luck, but some?, maybe his bike setup is putting more stress on components than has been designed ?
  8. 10 x € what he's on at the mo, he's getting on and hasn't got long left in Moto GP, plus he has been assured they will develope a new bike, which he's hoping will be a lot better than the current one and finally, he's Itallian. If he can't make the bike go fast, it's not his fault, cos Rossi couldn't either, if he wins on it, he's a hero and laughing all the way to the bank.
  9. Just a reminder for anyone interested, it's this weekend, ladies on Saturday and men on Sunday. It s a brilliant event, sadly I won't be there as I've got to work (unless I can wangle a day off). The best riders in the UK will be riding some mega sections. Saturday Ladies: Becky Cook Emma Bristow Danielle Whitham Nikita Smith Jessica Bown Sunday Men: James Dabill Michael Brown Alexz Wigg Jack Challoner Ross Danby Sam Haslam Ben Morphett Ricky Wiggins Craig Robinson Jack Sheppard "This year's North Berks Bonanza Super Trial will be held on Sat 11th for the TOP Ladies event and Sunday 12th August for the TOP Mens 2012 at Seymours Arena, Aston Tirrold Oxon starting at 11.00am. There will be a big prize fund available and Stuart has been in contact with lots of top british riders! This year there will be 2 laps of 7 sections for qualifying, with the top four riders going through to the final, which will be 1 lap Of 8 sections. There'll be camping available from Friday night, trade and food stands will also be available, as well on-site toilets. Some work on section design has already started so it'll be different for the riders from last year. The waterfall will be in use again." Entry is
  10. Safety, stop body parts i.e. fingers being broken, removed.
  11. Yes it's normal, there's not a lot of oil in there. Put it on a centre stand and leave it for 15-20 minutes, so that all the oil gets into the sump. Remember you check the oil level with the dipstick unscrewed, if it's low, top it up a little at a time. Level must be checked when hot. I've always had to top it up after an oil change having put the correct amount in for a oil and filter change. Use a syringe and clear piece of hose.
  12. Rossi was offered €17 million at the weekend to resign with Ducati, I like Rossi, he is a great rider, but Hayden deserves to be the No.1 rider, he's fast, works hard and if the bike was how he liked it, could be winning. I can't imagine Rossi would want to be No.2 at Yamaha, Jorge will beat him, as he wont be able to play mind games with him. He should go to BSB and have fun for the last few years of his career, no TC etc etc. he'd have a ball and win everything, no bull#+$¥, just great racing. Or, WSBK, then he could kick Max's butt again :0). One thing is for sure, he doesn't need the cash, looking at how well Bradl is going, he could buy into his team and get a sat Honda , he'd be quicker on that than the Ducati.
  13. Anyone know if JR is fit and riding the UK round?. Was also wondering if he will be at the North Berks Super Trial next month.
  14. The 4rt is an investment and is worth spending on, as it will last a very long time. Anything that makes the owner enjoy there bike, is a worth while purchase, no matter how much it cost, after all, it's his money he's spending, not yours. I know a few people that spend more than £800 on fags and booze. As they say "what ever makes yer happy". Let's face it, your average 4rt buyer is probably more than happy to "waste" a bit more cash on there pride and joy, as the cost of the bike was a bit more than a 2 stroke. I've seen the Termignoni on a 4rt, it's very nice, but I prefer the sound of the mitani silencer, it's just as light and about 60% cheaper and you can polish it ;0).

    Front Brake

Is this happening after riding and hot or whilst on a stand from cold ?
  16. Vmar? Jitsie possibly or the standard Mont ones, what does the Hope top yokes look like ?

    Oil Filter Change

You can do it with it on, but I always take it off to clean the sump, guard and especially around the gasket join. Once the bash plate has been bashed about a bit, if you take it off, you may find it difficult to refit it, but yours is a new bike, so shouldn't be a problem.
  18. The fan should not be staying on all the time, I'd be checking the level of coolant in the radiator first and the ECT sensor maybe faulty/failed.
  19. Hi and welcome to the 4rt club. When you start the bike, do not touch the throttle, kick it over and let it tick over until the fan kicks in, do not touch the throttle until the fan comes on, (it saves the plug from fouling) then ride, (I do this while I'm getting changed into my riding kit. If you have problems starting, reset the throttle, by opening the throttle fully and slowly kicking the engine over twice and then release the throttle, if your havimg problems starting, Pidcocks have a part that improves starting, tick over rpm mustn't be too low either, you can buy an hour meter/rev counter to set your tick over rpm, (I got one from the US for $15, it's very small). Clean the air filter after every ride/trial, but don't over oil it, otherwise it's harder to start. If its a new bike don't labour the engine or rev too high and change the engine oil and filter after 15 hours, (you can extend this a little bit once its run in). Make sure you regularly grease the "dog bone" suspension bearings (it's not a long job). Use a filter when refuelling, you don't want to get any crap or water in your fuel, the fuel pump doesn't like it. Regulary oil the throttle grip barrel and handle bar, for a nice smooth action. You may want to change to a fast action throttle, it's a slow as standard. If you find the standard gearing a bit high, change to a 9 front and either a 42 or 43 rear.
  20. Thanks for info, but been there and done that, good bump for new 4rt owners though :0) I'm looking to loose 3 KG off me bike for under £1 K and 5 KG off me by saving a grand in pies, drinks etc ;0).
  21. It's a much smaller fuel pump, about half the size of the original, weighs 195g less and with the mitani/future base, hose, fuel tank, saves about 1 kg. I have a mitani flat tank and future billet base, was thinking about the fuel pump, but was hoping to get the small pump from a different source as its rather expensive
  22. Has anyone got a Mitani small fuel pump on their 4rt ? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  23. Nice video, much better than some of the official ones, that flick from one shot to another, every 0.005 of a F€$#$€G second! Which is really annoying. I don't think you've broken any rules, along as it your own work and you don't sell it. Thanks for sharing.
  24. H&D, BANYERERS, or Mitani. It's titanium, half the weight of steel ones , you can also get front and rear axles and just about any other nut and bolt on the bike. A full kit, including engine internal bolts would cost about £2k and would save about 1.7 kg, you can get a 4rt down to about 68 kg for about £4.5k if you feel the need and are happy to spend your hard earned, but you'll still be a long way from the factory bikes.
  25. Nice bike Paul, the pipe and swing arm bolt saves atleast 1.5kg. That's the best Rothams rep I've seen, doesn't look right with the black frame.
