We've heard the chorus of disapprovals to the trial being held in the Central American country of Guatemala but hears to a successful weekend for all the British Riders.
Hopefully we'll see Doug not just get on the podium but top it and see Dibs carry on in much the same vein as his first round performance.
Another fine Atom performance in the Junior and a Wiggy podium. Not forgetting all the other British riders who have made the epic journey west.
Oh and lastly can we have the above for both days. Thanks.
-
Raga Rep. I agree with almost everything you have said, except the tiny little bit about Doug being past it. But I'll let it go.
The one about Spud taking garbage I especially agree with. I'm still waiting to hear his reason why Raga let Fujigas win more WTC's than him. (Remember Dec 2006).
-
I think the online petition is a good idea.
Without telling anyone how to sucks eggs we need to get importers, suppliers, motorbike shops etc interested. This fight needs to involve the whole of the trials community not just those from West Yorks.

Surely midday Saturday would make more of an impact.

It is important for everyone to show support for Mr Fothersgill, and write to him at the address given.
ADDINGHAM TODAY........A VENUE NEAR YOU TOMORROW.
No excuses.

Spud,
you make this sweeping statement about Jarvis could finish in the World top 5, qualified by 'if he wanted to' and fail to provide a reasonable argument why this is the case. Quoting other sportsman and other sports is irrelevant.
I think your statement about Jarvis in the top five is based upon emotion, like you he is from Kent and also the fact that it is never going to happen. Jarvis 2006 FIM World Ranking is 22.
You will not provide a decent case to why Jarvis is capable of a top five finish and will no doubt continue to evade the question.
However it is a poorer WTC without Jarvis, his contiuning to complete the trial on the first day at Hawkstone in 2000 with knee ligamant damage is the bravest most determined action I have ever witnessed in sport. I do not in anyway wish to knock Jarvis as he was and still is a formidable rider but he is not a top five WTC rider.
-
Jarvis, was a great rider in his time but hasn't competed regularly at the top level for too long and your statement about him finishing top 5, if he wanted to, is absolute nonsense.
He has only finished in the top five on two occasions 2001 when he was 4th and 2003 5th and that was when he was regularly competing. However without his terrible injury at Hawkstone in 2000 I'm sure he would have achieved more top five places.
Can you elborate on why Jarvis would finish in the top 5 and what do you mean by 'if he wanted to.'
Now who is taking Silly Speculations?
-
In the last WTC round Jarvis competed in, Hawkstone 1996, he finished 10th behind Dabill who as 9th. I think given the more recent experience gained by Morris and Dabill at WTC level they would finish higher than Graham. However it is a shame that Jarvis is not still competing at this level as I still think he is a top 10 rider.

Nick,
I've got a copy of it at home. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you it tonight. The programme that was sent to me, sometime ago, was for the single stage PTB not a two stage.
Dom
PS Nick I had your e-mail address and I've e-mailed it to you.

My daughter once offered to give up brushing her teeth for Lent. I don't think she quite grasped the concept.

Your dead right a fit Fajardo is going to be extremely tough to beat and to be honest a huge challenge. But if he carries on the way he started then who knows.
-
can you kindly explain the logic in that statement.
-
I think Gary Havelock is still riding for the Redcar Bears.
-
I don't think for one minute anyone is getting carried away with Dib's result, excellent though it was. Dib's has to beat Fajardo and Freixa regularly and that is going to take some doing. But he has started the season better than expected and deserves a great deal of credit.
-
If Dibs can aim to beat Fajardo and Freixa regularly then he is doing exceptionally well. If he can achieve this and to make the top six at the end of the season will be nothing short of phenomenal.
He has proven he has the ability, he has one hell of a back up with Future Trial Racing and he works well with Jack Lee.
-
The Cota Kid is probably Dougie's No. 1 stalker fan. He even has one of Dougie's one-piece riding suits he likes to wear around the house You will not win an argument with him on this subject!
I had a feeling someone would mention the fact that in Tarres time World Rounds were one day rather than two. Its hypothetical to say Tarres would have won more than Doug if that was the rule then. However calculating the average score per trial.
Doug has ridden 213 trials and scored 3450 points = 16.197 points per trial.
Tarres has ridden 156 trials and scored 2341 points = 15 points per trial.
However you cannot ignore the number of trials Doug has ridden and the number of points scored regardless of whether or not it was over one or two days. This is what makes Doug the best rider and he is still competing at the sports highest level.
-
I'm not trying to make this a Doug versus Tarres issue and who is the best.
Forgetting the fact that they both have 7 titles each, although consecutively is the greater achievement, if you look at the statistics their is only one clear winner.
Lampkin 99 WTC Wins to Tarres 61.
Highest number of Top 15 finishes on 206 Lampkin. Tarres 10th with 150.
Highest number of podium finishes, 166 Lampkin. Tarres 3rd with 102.
Number of points scored Lampkin 3465, Tarres third with 2341. Only just over a 1000 behind.
Obviously the above is only accurate up to and including the last WTC Round.
Please draw your own conclusions.

Quad bike rider killed
Terrible news about this death.
-
That was very well spotted Marky Boy. Are you on the pay roll of Eddie L, as he is going to love you for this one.
-
Tarres was a little before my time, not that I'm young its just I didn't really get into trials until 1997, so I never saw him ride but his 7 WTC titles does say it all. Colomer was also a very talented rider and would have probably got a few more titles if a certain lad from Silsden hadn't come along. I was surprised how quickly Colomer fell away from the top level.
Raga also a superb rider, but a poor champion, he has been his own worse enemy with his ego.
Mind you power and determination is only two of Doug's qualities he is still a hugely talented rider who still is still driven by desire to win.
Can't really say too much about the Toffees as I'm a Boro fan.

Do you know what Eddie you do not appear to voice your views without, somehow, criticising Doug or the Lampkins or anything to do with them.
Your point about no minders and eased sections is valid, your point about Dougs minders abusive.
(I'm that nice person I've censored my own post).
-
Talk about stating the obvious. Nothing will win you a trial if others are riding better than you!!!!
Your obviously not a fan of Lampkin's but no doubt were on the band wagon when he was demolishing all the opposition several seasons ago.
And probably support Chelsea / Arsenal / Man Utd.
-
I'm a litle confused about the new minder rule and what is it supposed to achieve.
This ruling was brought in at the request of the factories to cut costs, yet at Mancha Real the factories still appeared to have the same number of minders, albeit only one would actually be in the section the rest would be shouting out the time, looking after bikes etc.
The severity of the sections has not been reduced to account for the fact the riders only had one minder and there were certainly plenty of scary sections were more than one minder was needed.
It just appears that if anyone has lost out from this ruling then it is the riders.
-
Paul,
you have hit the nail on the head. Doug is still, very much, up there with the best of them, regardless of what others think. I believe he can win his 100th WTC Round win and his 8th WTC Title, becasue he still displays all the attributes needed to do so.
