  1. Believe it or not, I only have one vote on Polls myself and cannot manipulate them (well I probably could by hacking about with the database, but that's way more effort than it's worth) You can Poll all you want - what happens on the road stays on the road. TC rule Sorry boys but Andy's right.
  2. I have a second interview for a position in Romania working for the international arm of a major construction company who have a large amount of work there, at least 2 years work. They also have work in the Middle East and Carribean Obviously there are trials in other areas of East Europe, Poland and the Czech Republic. So I hope theres trials there. If I do get offered the position as well as the salary, the place, accomodation etc being able to ride trials will also play a role in helping me make a decision. I bet there's some good rock sections around Dracula's castle.
  3. Judging my the lack of any serious responses I can only assume that there is no trials scene in that part of Eastern Europe. The reason why I have raised this topic is because I may be getting the opportunity to work out there and wanted to know if it would be worth taking my 4RT, as I do not intend giving up riding. Riding trials is in important part of my life. Do I give up riding regular trials for a very good job offer? I once turned a job down in Hong Kong because I didn't think I would be able to ride trials out there, only to find out, years later, that there were trials in the New Territories.
  4. Anyone know what the trials scene is like in Romania. Particularly around the capital Bucharest.
  5. Do you have the contact details for Company X.
  6. Its funny that because at nearly all the World Rounds I've been to the barman or barmaid are always called John. I'm looking into doing the 2 rounds back to back although nothing has been organised yet. You won't have to worry about sneaking out for some beer, just tell them your nipping out for some wine gums.
  7. A mate of mine speared his back during the White Rose, it was a terrible experience. However no one got a puncture so it turned out okay.
  8. Is it near to Pilsen. The home of Pilsner beer ? I understand that theres been previous European and world Rounds in Kramolin.
  9. I think we would have been bothered if GB had won it though! Its 5 of out 5 for Spain.
  10. Cheers but I already saw them, what I was after was a break down of the individual riders results to see how thr GB team faired. The Spanish score was impressive.
  11. There seems to be a lack of reporting on the Indoor TdN which took place at the weekend. No surprises who won, Spain. GB second and Japan third. Can't seem to find the individual scores.
  12. I went to the remberance day service and watched the parade through my town. It was a very moving experience and I'm pleased to say it was well attended by all ages.
  13. I think your initial argument regarding the poppy funding the terrorists fight against UK and other Forces is incorrect as the terrorists we are fighting against are themselves against the drug trade. The theory that this war in some form keeps drugs off the streets of the UK is unfounded, but appears to give further justification for being there. However you are right about the increase in poppy production but this has happened after the Taliban were ousted from power. When the Taliban were in power, poppy cultivation was banned and the amount of heroin from Afghanistan was minimal, production was transfered from Taliban areas to areas held by our allies, i.e. The Northern Alliance.
  14. In July 2000 the Taliban ordered a ban on all poppy cultivation within Taliban controlled areas in Afghanistan, this being enforced by the Taliban Miltia.
  15. Your right it does sound dumb. Theres a link on the top of this websites home page as its one of this sites sponsors.
  16. How bad is Andy Robinson if he makes Sven look good. Sven lost only about 4 competetive matches, Robinson has just lost 7 on the bounce. Give the job to Martin Johnson.
  17. The Rugby World Cup seems a million years ago. Seven consecutive defeats, losing to Argentina today and booed off by the Twickenham crowd. Whats happened to English Rugby and surely Andy Robinson should resign or be sacked.
  18. Peace a long way off, unfortunately it ain't ever going to happen.
  19. Some Q & A of interest, poached from the BBC website. Where did Poppy Wearing Orginate? The wearing of poppies as a symbol of remembrance began in America, when university teacher Monia Michel read a poem called "In Flanders Fields" by John Macrae. A little background: Flanders Fields, in France, was the site of some of the bloodiest fighting of World War One, and in the aftermath of the destruction caused there, the only thing that was able to grow was the red poppy. Michael, inspired by the poem, began selling poppies to friends to raise money for ex-servicemen. And in Britain? This is all down to a young infantry officer by the name of Major George Howson, who formed The Disabled Society in 1922 with the idea of helping ex-service people who had been disabled in the war. The British Legion make the poppies for England, Ireland and Wales and the Earl Haig Fund make them for Scotland. A very worthwhile cause well worth donating to.
  20. Rememberance Day if anything has more of a connection with WWI than any other conflict, 11th hour 11th day of the 11th month 1918. Although as noted we should remember all service men and women who fought for and in a lot of cases died for this country from the Great War through to current conflicts.
  21. Its situated a Clitherbeck Farm above Danby on the way out towards the moor road from Whitby to Guisborough. There's no roadwork involved and its usually 3 laps of 12 sections. One lap being no more than about 5 miles. For some reason its always frosty and freezing or lashing it down when this trials on. There's a pub in Danby if you want some ale. Mind you if your 17 next year you won't be able to . Well not legally anyway. Regs are already out for it.
  22. Soon as I know anything I'll post it up on this forum.
  23. Next year its going to be called the Bilsdale 4RT Trophy Challenge judging by the impressive 4RT turn out. Always a superb trial, well done to Bill Pye and his team of trusty observers and helpers. Sensible yet challenging sections but with a generous time limit, a fine days sport. DJ, seems like you had a good maiden voyage aboard HMS 4RT.
  24. Cheers Perce, but there appears to be 2. Kramolin Jilovice and Kramolin Kresin. They both are south of Prague on the way to Austria.
