i still own, and now and then compete on mine..anyone is welcome to jump on your bike, and ride with me, iv won alot of vintage expert classes on mine..
the only time iv had an issue, is when i did something stupid on it..
i own and ride several classic bikes, and my KT is one of my favorites.
-
heck with that...lol. i wanna have fun and ride clean....TRIAL UP!
-
as iv said before..if and IF, the no stop rule survives FIM, and IF it indeed comes to NATC..they will still ride, stop , get a 5, and protest..they have played with No Stop before on modern lines..
Stop with Penalty should be done on vintage..
-
we try and set our club events to NATC standards, you can read up on how each line is to be set, we dont use timed sections, but 3 1/2 hours for 3 loops of 10 sections.
-
not hard to run time in a section, its already done at the national level, 2 checker at each section, as soon as axle is in, time starts, axel out, time ends.
you dont get out before the time is up...5.
-
feet? she has feet....hmm, i didnt see those..
-
that is stop with penelty...and thats how it should be..that, and timed in section.
-
lets be real,,,no stop was how it was done, until about 1985,,things changed, bikes got better, skills improved, and the sections have been set towards that.. so, rather then just jump on a vintage bike, and ride no stop,..we force the younger riders to step back?
time limits in section, and stop with a penalty would work better, keep it safe, and let them ride the big stuff..
No stop is a step back....
as i said, this rule wont effect my style of riding, i ride 2 levels below Keith, but it will effect, rider turn out, checker turn out, and spectator turn out.
in the long run a select few that dont and wont ever ride at that level thought this was a great idea to level the playing field, selll more bikes or whatever...rather then let those who ride it make the choice..
if they want to ride no stop...ride a twin shocker and be happy.
-
hey i gotta get em worked up... just to the right of were Keith starts is a great upper vintage section, it was set as an advance section for that trial,
a little tape majic and shes a expert vintage line.
just accross from that section is a great B and C line section,,.awesome off camber turn..looks harder then it is.
-
Update.
picked up a nice KX 400 side cover, direct bolt on, just waiting for free time to install, some KX steering trees are another mod i want to do.
-
Big Al, told me he set that section to uncleanable, and to challenge those guys,,Keith almost got it done. Shad said...no thanks lol.
i was at the section just below this rock. the guy taking the video was standing right behind me.
FYI: we may take that line at Turkey Rock going down for the vintage expert line...lol
-
had to whipe the drool off my key pad...i want a Merlin...id ride it all over the rocks.
-
everytime i see him ride, he suprises me, i remember a 20 foot gap, he shot accross from a stand still once, he was having an issue with an off camber, and asked,,,can i just go straight over that gap..i thought sure,,,you go right ahead he he,,,kid zapped right over it...he has some skill no doubt, and a good guy as well.
-
this will give a better shot, this is Keith at our club trial at Turkey Rock, im scoring the bottom of this section,..think he would make that No Stop
-
if you click on a the others that look like that, you see Keith, Baily, and Dusty all try this big splatter, they all stop and set up, and still dont make it..Dusty stops and clears his engine, sets up, and doesnt make it...i saw bigger stuff at the Nationals last year,..
-
just thought if Keith wasnt able to stop and set up...how much worse this would have ended up.
-
Baily Tuckers attempt,, notice,,,no kicker,, these kids do some crazy stuff...this is just a local club trial..we try and set them so they get used to national level sections.
-
heres Keith trying a REAL splat,..nobody made this,,
-
those were TWIN SHOCK SPLATS.. not modern splats,..with 4 inches of travel, you dont have much to load up, i could make that log..but would have to struggle doing so on a twin shocker. at 1.00 you see him do a 4 foot or better splat
it would be a few times rolling around on the grass, and id want a bigger kicker....
well, id try it anyway..and that says alot lol...
-
though i agree....if your club hosts a NATC national event, it will be abserving the rules set by NATC or at least should be,
it make it easier for the checkers to score during the Nationals.
the No stop wont effect the way i ride, as i try and ride that way anyway.
however, i am our club and the ITSA clubs EMT for events on public land.. and id rather have em ride out. then pack em out any day.
the only real issue i have with No Stop is rider safety, if you have Pro level riders in your club, youv seen the crazy stuff they can ride, and most of the crazy stuff needs to be set up for,
like Adam says, younger riders will hurry through it, and make mistakes..a 20 foot drop is a big mistake, with a 160LB motorcycle following you to the ground.
in the past 3 years, iv delt with 2 femure fractures, a hip fracture, and a bee sting reaction, and non were advanced riders,. one of the Smage bothers broke his foot last year, i was a section ahead of him, and by the time i got back to that section he was being taken out on an ATV with help of the other EMT..
rider safety is the first thing on my mind, having fun is second...winning is way down the list.. NO Stop is No Beuno....
-
hey,,,Eddie can do some twin shock splats..
-
Splatter= American term for stupid crazy rock steps, big ol logs that you cant see over lol..
no,, twin shock splatters wont be 20 foot straight up off camber rocks..i do have some 4 foot rocks, and a nice 6 foot log with a cheater step im mind..
at a local pactice area, we have a downed Oak tree that, with a kicker, i can make with a small dab on my TLR, for the life of me, i can get it with my Evo without pulling it up 2 footed..
-
marker 5s...yikes, im the king of em..well see how this plays out,
in Cali, i cleaned a tough section, got the crowd clapping,i was jazzed....only to get the you touched that split card...sorry..heres your 5..
got 3 card 5s on Sat,..not a one on Sunday..and none in Co...guess i learned lol.
one of the issues was that they didnt set the splits correctly, and more then a few riders brushed them.. in Co, they did a better job on most the sections..i think i only dropped 8 or 9 points on Sat in Co..
too many pro riders are against the no stop rule hear..will see i guess.
-
use standard 2012 springs and youll be happy, i run a 10 front 41 back, stock gearing makes second gear useless in a section.
-
this year other then the Nationals, im keeping my trials travel to 700 miles round trip..didnt make since to drive 18 hours, and ride for 4..
im mastering a couple events early in the year, so, ill have a full plate, ill set the expert loop at Turkey rock this year, you might wanna practice your twin shock splatters lol. it will be turned up a couple notches...i have the class winner year end plates done,..they look pretty sweet.
Balance Trial supply hooked me up with plates at cost, my sister did the art work..were planning on the awards and cookout maybe with a bike Rodeo at Turkey rock
