  1. Trying to rebuild a Cota 200 from a box of bits. Anyone got an "idiots guide" to setting the shims on the gear change drum (shims both ends)? Many thanks, Gary,
  2. This weekends ESTC 2 day trial at the Yennards starts at 5:30 PM on Saturday and 10:30 AM SUnday, ignore what you read in the press..........
  3. 5:30 PM Saturday and 10:30 Sunday, bring your tent and camp. 40 sections both days (10X4) and Free Burger for all Saturday night riders. Burger Van will be selling food from early Sunday to cater for campers who can't be ars-d to cook. Behind Bars spares van on site from early Sunday in case you break anything Saturday night or just fancy spending the money you saved with the free burger and camping. Toilets will be provided but bring whatever water you need as there is none on site.
  4. check out www.estc.co.uk club that runs 4 routes with T/S riders on Yellow and Green so you are sure to find something. They have a 2 day this weekend at the ground they own (practice memberships available which allows you full access) and they should be less than an hour from you wherever you are in Northamptonshire (we are in the N/W corner)
  5. My second ever road trial (and Sammy Millar event) at an age the wrong side of 50, oh what have I missed all these years. I rode a tatty 200 Fantic on the easy route and still lost 3 5's in those imfamous wood sections but I had a brilliant day out. Well done to the organisers and plotters, the tea van at lunch was an eye-opener for someone who normally only rides multi laps around a postage stamp and the skill of some of the good guy's had me rushing ahead so I would not get embarrased! Super event, you should be needing to hold a ballot for places!
  6. Alan, as previous a brilliant event, very well run, friendly. Interesting sections made more so by the drizzle, congratulations to you all. P.S. need to by the catering man an alarm clock!!!!!!!!!
  7. There is a club trial on this Sunday at Rileys Railway, Tilton on the Hill, Leicestershire run by the Loughborough Club (see calender entry) Loughborough is a small band of enthusiastic riders who try to put on a trial most months to suit the average club rider. They run 3 routes so there is something for everyone but the last couple of events have been a struggle, heavy rain made the routes harder than intended in Feb and in March they had to cancel as the ground was waterlogged. They really need some support if they are to keep putting the effort in so if you can get along and support please do so, Richard Hodges who is the lifeline of the club would very much appreciate being over-run with entries.
  8. Yep, got my puller from www.trialsbits.co.uk Amanda is very helpfull and next day delivery normally (I have nothing to do with this company, just a very satisfied customer)
  9. Get along to Earl Shilton Club trial on Sunday (www.estc.co.uk for details) they have thier own ground to practice on and there will be lots of advice for free from any of the riders, there could also be some bikes for sale to give you some ideas, good luck,
  10. I spoke with Bill Pye who was very helpfull who said use the marks. I have also had the bike run backwards so I set the timing to the retarded side of the two marks (you can get a few degrees different if you put it in the middle or towards one mark or the other). It has been fine since. Good luck,
  11. Why not get along to Earl Shilton on Sunday (www.estc.co.uk for details) you can see what goes on and people more often than not will have bikes for sale. The club has its own ground so when you do get a bike if you join you can practice at any time. They also run training and mentoring events and a summer evening easy series so you should find lots to go at! All the best,
  12. Carole Nash do a "Not for road use" policy to cover F&T which can be taken out on a chassis number. Last 2 bikes I registered just to insure but if you don't use them on the road its a pain having to keep updating SORN. I also found out that by having a recognised theft assist (or should that be non-assist?) such as an Oxford chain or Dynotag they give a substancial discount (bought a chain from them for
  13. The Trial is on the dissused railway that you can see the bridge for, go under the bridge and then turn sharp left and go through the gate, parking to both left and right at the top.
  14. Start time is 10:30, Marefield is to the N/E of Leicester, see link to Multimap http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB|mare...land,%20LE7%209
  15. The Loughborough club are running a trial this Sunday at Marefield near Tilton-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire. The last trail they ran at this venue late in 07 turned out to be a "bit of a mare" so they will be setting rideable sections for Sunday that can be enjoyed by all regardless of the weather! The club are always short on observers so they are offering any riders who turn up with an observer a free ride (until all the sections are manned). Three routes, please come and support this small band of enthusiasts!
  16. Try www.ESTC.co.uk, Earl Shilton based club with its own legal practice ground
  17. Check out www.estc.co.uk, Leicestershire club with own practice ground for members
  18. Take a look at WWW.estc.co.uk not that far away, own venue you can practice at and lots of friendly riders
  19. take a look at www.estc.co.uk not sure how close it is but they have a practice membership that allows open access to the private venue (The Yennards) the club owns, just what you need to get back into the sport. The club also run training and mentoring days plus a trial every month and a series of dead easy trials on Saturday evenings in the summer.
  20. There is lots of hard standing to park on, only person who got stuck in the last 2 years was Hans Rey when he turned up in a 40' Motorhome! Section Plotters at ESTC have been getting it spot on recently, three routes with the winners on each in single figures and the less confident inside 100 so everyone gets to enjoy a day out. Not much challenge if you are Dougie or Grimbo but if you are a clubman looking for a good day out then you will find something to suit.

  22. why not tell us where to look without giving the link, then its up to us if we want to risk the copywrite!
  23. Last years report said something about not buying the 250 but have the 290 as it was the better bike (I remember because I took the proverbial out of Midlands Sherco diehard Pete Archer who had just bought a 250). It did not say the 250 was a pile of cr-p but it did say the 290 was easyier to ride and performed better at everything. Looks like the 250 is now somewhat improved!
