Yeah, it was kinda weird Barry? I think we were having too much fun and just plain forgot to click a few pics?
Hell, we didn't even get to the section over the mountain... and we tried twice!! Hahahahahaha Just too much going on I think.

Hey Billy,
Mine is an old bugger... must be 2007/2008! I try to set it to 720 but it won't hold it anymore. The default 360 works fine on mine but as you know its only reading half revs.
I set it at 890-910 on the default 360 and good to go for the 1800 factory setting.
Mine is so old you can change the battery I think? Has two phillips screws on the back cover, never changed it though? Or cant remember doing it at least? Maybe a new battery will keep the 720 set?
Good little unit and love no connections, just holding it near bike to get reading.

G'day Ben,
The practice day with set sections was cancelled. It was organised by another club than the one I joined so don't know the issue but that doesn't matter really... was not to be this time.
A few guys from the club I've just joined decided to try Gap Creek which is where I mainly ride. About a dozen of us went there for a fun day and a bit of practice in the terrain for the comp to be held there next weekend.
We had an absolute ball... blue skies, spring temps and time flew like an eagle! So much so I didn't get to even put the go pro on, or get the still camera out!
This was the first meeting with people from the club we just joined, so was a meet and greet day for us as well as a ride day.
I was also experimenting with helmet headsets for wife and I to communicate on the trials, enduro and road bikes... and plain forgot the cameras.
Thanks to Mark and Josh for taking us into some very rocky terrain and coaching my wife into some sections she would not have attempted until much later in her trials quest. She has decided to enter her first trial (next Sunday) and give it a go! Exciting times!!!
We met another couple yesterday where mum and dad both ride trials. The mum is a beginner to trials so my wife might have ride buddy for when she needs a break from us guys!! Hehehehehe So good to see another lady on a trials bike.
Met Sherconoob in the flesh for first time and we had a great chat... he might have some footage from the day? And yes... he sounds exactly the same in flesh as in the vids without American accent! Hehehehehe

I didn't have the "break' injuries you guys have but the first two days in bed were helped by heavy painkillers. I can see how people could get addicted to them... gotta watch those suckers!
I told my wife... as part part of my repair I have to spend a day or two in the shed prepping bikes! Sitting in comfy chair, with radio on reading a bike mag or two, nice cuppa tea, in the shed... did wonders for me! Hehehehehe
Hope I never break a rib! Doesn't sound too flash.

Welcome to a great forum!
I've been riding since 11 yrs and 55 now. Mainly road with some off-road thrown in, especially when younger. My first real trials motorcycle was earlier this year. I did try and convert a 125ccc trail bike into a trials bike when a young'n by getting biggest sprockets available and cutting headlight off et cetera with hacksaw and file. I wouldn't let my mum wash my Mick Andrews shirts!
You won't believe the difference to your low speed road riding if you get addicted to trials! Enduro riding even more so!
Have a peek in the training and technique section for some great vids for beginners!
You start out with static balancing the bike and some fig8's in an ever decreasing radius using well established technique and bike/body posture. Can get a bit boring but in reality its essential.
Enjoy the journey...

I guess the trials girls have HABS! Hehehehe
WAGS doing observing... MMMmmm! There's a 5 with that distraction!
I wish we had some coverage of the Ladies and/or Men's World Champs here in Australia. Have to rely on the vid section here or Utube for any snippets of it.

Geez! Thats no good! I broke a collar bone back in the 80's (motorcycle high side on bitumen) and it was damn painful from what I remember! From what I've heard busted ribs don't tickle either.
Keep healing!

Thanks lads!
The practice day at Motorcycle Trails Club Queensland (MTCQ) was cancelled for tomorrow. I recently joined the Western Districts Trials Club (WDTC) and with the wonders of Facebook a day at Gap Creek Motorcycle Park has been organised. We have about 10 going!!!
I rode the Monty today and spine was pretty good, considering. I'll be going easy tomorrow as I want to enter a comp next weekend, all going well!
Slicktop,
What did you do to the arm??? Rotator cuff from too much double blipping? Threw an evil section setter in the creek and dislocated a shoulder!

I agree, congratulations and very well done!
Her face is becoming very recognisable! I showed my wife and daughters the FIM girls of Trials video and my wife says "Thats Emma". It might sound strange but my wife is very proud of her because my wife is English born. She still goes for Australia in the Ashes though!! Hehehehe

Ally,
Start the question/s again and those that can help will probably chime in again.

I did watch the whole thing... and I'm gonna force my wife to watch it tonight on big screen! She loves watching all things trials! I just purchased the Steve Saunders Trials 2000 learner DVD and we watched the whole thing in one go! She then went outside and rode her Beta for ages and actually bettered her Fig 8's!
You guys get him in person! Lucky buggers!
We are doing our first practice day with a club this Sunday. Cant wait and should be a fun day! I might snap a few pics.
The bug has bitten us hard as well! Seems to be the norm once someone gets a go on a trials bike!

Ok! Its been too long and I needed to feel some freedom of two wheels! Took the road bike for a short blat to order the new iPhone! My iPhone 3GS is 5 yr old and really needed upgrading... and it got mysteriously crunched in the garage door! Stopped for a coffee on the way back to rest!
So it looks like I will ride some sections this Sunday on Monty! I'll still be a bit guarded on the old back but I'm pretty stoked it seems like no permanent damage or operations this time.
Spent a couple of days cleaning and prepping the Beta and Montesa... for light duties and wife points! Hehehehe

Beautiful girls all over the world... yes, you're right! But sometimes the pubic hair is lighter on the other side of the fence! (trimmedWink)

I'd love to play in the Belgian muck... it has advantages! Have you seen the Belgian female of the species? Babes!!!
Although, the Aussie chics are pretty nice, even though I didn't marry one! Hehehehehe

Too be honest I cant remember which way, has not been touched for some time. If idle doesn't go in the desired direction go the other way.
You have a bit of leeway in the spec so if it suits you to have slightly lower or higher.
My wife preferred the idle about 100 lower in the beginning (last Jan) but in last few months it has been at 1200 (she has improved her clutch control).

I'm a beginner mate! Easy to have a go at the newbs huh! And his bike choice...

The Trials Champion Ratio...
70 -80 % Rider Ability
20-30 % Motorcycle
IMHBO - In my humble beginner opinion.
I think I read Bou won his first trial at 12 yrs and would most likely be able to adjust a clutch! (frictionlessWink)

I reckon for a beginner's bike my Montesa Cota Standard is a ripper! It might even get me through a trials comp one day.

Ben,
Now thats a way to while away the hours!! Watched the whole thing and throughly enjoyed it!
I agree with the camera flattening the terrain. I did a great vid to show the kids and make me out to be some semblance of a beginner hero! Looked like i was riding in the local carpark it was so flat! ahahahahaha It was humble pie for supper!!! Hehehehe
I've yet to attend any beginner days in the clubs here in Oz but I hope they are like that. My wife would love to attend a day like above, all the comps sections are insurmountable to her at this stage.
Edit: I'm on to you mate with those many fingers on the clutch! Every time you touch the clutch lever with more than one finger you owe me a pint! (brownAleWink)
