  3. Welcome kcc189, I think that you might struggle to find a tank but you never know, thoughts are that may be a yamaha ty80 tank could be made fit and i think the fuel tap is on the correct side as well. Next up is to get your post onto the Montesa section of the forums, further down the page here you will find a collection of like minded souls all lovin the Cota 247, I my self am restoring one at the moment and have another standing in the wings to start once number one is completed. I am sure all of the information that you will ever need is to be found in the Montesa section, from supplier to hints, tips and projects. Have fun and we will see you in the Montesa section. cheers John.

  8. Would be interested to see a mock up when you get a chance to sit the tank on the bike. Yes was thinking that a 247 meet up would be a good thing to do next year. Cheers John.

  10. Thanks for the info Dave, will check out the site, think the longer one is what i need.
  11. That's great fatty, know all you have to do is post a picture or two on here to let us appreciate it. cheers John.
  12. Welcome bult1, nice bike you have bought there, can't give you exact clearance to sump but usually about 12 to 13 inches if that helps. Enjoy the site. cheers John.
  13. Very nice indeed Dave, is that universal mud guards that you have fitted? I need to order new mud guards but noticed that the genuine montesa rear has holes in for rear lights and number plate which i don't want. cheers John.
  14. No not at all, they will be more than powerful enough to start with.
  15. Steve, just checked both my bikes and the carbs are both 627's, i think by the time to try to re-jet and get the manifold for it you would be cheaper getting the carb from In Motion @ £135.00
  16. Hi Dave, I had a look yesterday at the return springs from the original pegs, it was not going to be a straight forward job looking at it, so I will come back to that job later when every thing else is done. cheers John.
  17. Why don't you stick some pictures up of the restoration so far Stevie, i am restoring a couple of montesa 247's, pictures in the montesa forum. cheers John.
  18. If you are just starting out you would be better with a 250cc as some of the 280 and 300 bikes are a bit powerful for a newbie.
  19. Thanks for the replies guy's helpful to know what to look out for, pm sent to smelling123.
  20. Thanks that is the sort of information that i want regarding parts availability etc, want to ride it of course Cheers John.
  21. Go for it! I made a 360 miles round trip for my second one with out even seeing it! These bikes are rare at the moment so i would grab every one i could get as they are a good investment if restored without going overboard in the financial department.
  22. Steve, have a look at amalcarb.co.uk the 626 type seem to be for Triumph and BSA from what i can see, you want a 627 1973 onwards. Cheers John.
