  1. Just putting back my Y2K 290 after replacing the main bearings. Does anyone know the torque setting for the primary gear nut? I found the Clutch and Flywheel settings in Wayne's excellent manuals.

    Slipping Clutch

I changed the plates and springs on my old 2000 Sherco recently and found the old plates were in quite good condition the main difference was the clutch springs.
  3. I've used an inner tube from my sons old bike, works OK Mick
  4. Hi Doogle They used to use the practice ground the 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month from around 10:00 am I think. Found this on the ACU site http://www.motorcyclinggb.co.uk/ c/o Mr Richard Tann 88 Deacons Hill Road Elstree Borehamwood Herts WD6 3JQ Mick
  5. I asked about wheel bearings a few weeks ago under the title 2000 wheel bearings theres a few tips in there: www.trialscentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2223 Mick
  6. Might be worth checking the plug first. My Sherco was like that then I fitted a new plug and now it starts fine. Should be OK on a new bike but you never know?
  7. Can anyone recommend anywhere where I can get a new chain and sprockets set for my 2000 290. Mick
  8. We tend to get a bit of mud down here so the IRC might help when its like this
  9. There NSK's not received them yet though Thanks for the advice guys
  10. Yes should be fine, is there anything different about these compared to others ? Just got we worried why you asked ?
  11. Thanks Nigel A pair just came up on ebay
  12. Thanks for all the replies guys. As a couple of you have said whether a tyre would make that amount of difference for my level of riding I'm not sure. Just checked Dave Renham's website (www.bultacouk.com) and as he stocks IRC's I might try one of these, as he's just round the corner I won't have to trek for miles or pay delivery costs. Cheers Mick
  13. I know it's been asked before but, I had a look on BVM's website and there's a big difference in the cost of a rear tyre: Michelin
  14. Anyone know the sizes of the rear wheel bearings in my 2000 290 ? Thought I'd go down the bearing shop before I take the old ones out.
  15. www.bvm-moto.co.uk I hope I get a discount next time I use them Mick
  16. I wouldn't go down the second hand route if I were you. I don't think anyone would want my old pants You can get a NZI helmet for just over
  17. Colly, go for it My mate has a 2002 290 and it's fine, I've had my 2000 290 for a couple of years now and no problems just usual maintenance cleaning the air filter, changing the oil etc. I've had a new air filter and when I took the rear suspension linkage apart to clean it all I chewed up the swining arm bolt (soft aluminium) I think the bolt and nut was about a fiver and included postage. I get my parts from BVM mail order www.bvm-moto.co.uk Sherco's are very popular down here in the sunny south. Mick
  18. There's usually a few trailers on www.adtrader.co.uk, a few bikes on there as well.
  19. I said hello to Mick I think I lost 20 + a few silly 5's here and there But thats usual for me Anyway thanks again Mick
  20. Wayne just want to say thanks for a great trial, really enjoyed it, are you going to publich the result on Trials Central, or could you email me the results?
  21. Thanks Wayne, I'll see you Sunday I'll be on my Sherco, but I'll bet you'll still beat me Cheers Mick
  22. Wayne, Miles our TVTC trial has been cancelled this weekend - lack of entries So I think I'll come down as well. I normally ride Novice/Sportsmen (red route) i.e. easy stuff, is the difficulty about the same Wayne?
  23. Ian I think progress has slowed down, I ride a 2000 Sherco and it's so much easier to ride than my old TY250(doesn't make me any better though ) , I had a go on my mates 2002 Sherco and the differences are very minor a few tweaks here and there and a better paint job. Mick

    Italjet Trial 80

Thanks Steve and Martin I got it going last weekend after fitting new mains and seals. I got in contact with Steve Goode who supplies spares for the 250 and 350 Italjets, the brake shoes are the same size and he also had cables and mudguards. I've got the rest in bits at the moment and me and my son are busy cleaning and repainting it (not exactly concours but it'll look alot better). We're trying to get it ready for a camping weekend my club has over the May day bank holiday weekend. I'll put some more pictures up of it when its back together. Mick
