He didn't ask about them gripping so why mention it ?

He asked for a good set of tyres... a tyre is only as good as the grip it provides

Michelin X11, if you want good grip and decent longevity

Dunlop if you are on a budget.

Why does it sound like a mess, perhaps you haven't read it correctly, response so far outside of this site has been positive. Perhaps you might like to explain further what YOU would do.

Im quite sure i have read your post correctly.

From your post i understand (correct me if you have worded it incorrectly) there are 2 youth A championships and an "eligible" youth cant score points in both. Does anyone actually expect a good entry at the Acklams youth A events? Dividing championships only decreases numbers, isnt the idea to try and increase numbers?

so when you said no parts you meant a fair few then?

Raga didnt ride the bike till it was finished.

The wheels, brakes and forks are pretty much standard across all makes, and have been for years. Sure they share the same tyres, levers, grips, footrests, chains, sprockets, carburetors, radiator fluid, petrol, gearbox oil. Sure theyre the same bike really

If you believe that, you would believe anything.

clutch is interchangeable, wheels brakes forks, kickstart looks very similar?. the bike is so gas gas in feel when i tried one back to back i couldnt tell which was which .

The wheels forks and brakes are interchangable on all trials bikes. Again, Raga was GGs development rider for the last 10+ years, so no surprise that it feels like a GG

The mistakes have been ironed out and the trs is a much better set up, the fact that some parts are interchangeable with gas gas may have helped too.

What are you talking about, no parts are interchangable with a gg. And why do you think it is much better set up? Because they have Adam Raga developing the bike!! Not JS

I don't know the reasons the UK ACU based their decision on, but it is fairly logical that having something like a gopro attached to you helmet will increase the risk of you getting a broken neck

More likely fairly illogical. Only the complete incorrect mounting of a camera would cause such an injury.

Also, the ACU only banned them because the FIM did, the FIM have since lifted this ban for approved cameras

It's performance in local trials, on the same sections I'm riding, that would sell me a bike. Couldn't tell you which bikes are doing what in the world championship as it's not relevant to me.

In this vein, when Vertigo lost their British Championship rider a year ago my suggestion would have been to get a top centre runner on one in each part of the country, at little cost, to sell more bikes.

Strangely we were having this exact conversation at the lakes last weekend. The vast majority don't give two hoots about the world championship and, from a vertigo standpoint, Doug's SSDT wins will have done far more for the brand than the WTC ever could.

My impression is that a solid manufacturer with a good product could skip the WTC entirely and still sell a ton of bikes if they invested all the time and money into a well supported and promoted local dealer network. More than just about anything, around here anyway, people want something they enjoy riding first, and that they know is going to be taken care of when it breaks second.

People may disagree, but IMO montesa sells 90% of their bikes because Toni Bou rides one.

And also look at Jotagas/TRS, largely the same bike, one flops, one succeeds. Why? Mainly because of raga i believe

The problem is observers have different views on how long,if at all, they will allow a stop,so the riders don't know where they stand.I accept that if you don't stop you won't get fived but a lot of sections can't be ridden non stop. Those that can trick ride well enjoy doing so and gain advantage over those that can't but risk a five through exercising a difficult skill.I feel we either revert to stop permitted or open the sections up and enforce the no stop rule, this middle ground is too vague

I agree with the first part, riders only get annoyed when they dont get away with one observer what they got away with with another. Consistency is key.

I totally disagree withe the second part. Who says a section cant be ridden no stop, im sure if toni bou turned up he could ride it no stop. Just because there may be no one there on the day to ride it no stop doesnt mean you let them all off with stopping. Exactly the same way if nobody gets up a rock step you five them, if someone stops, five them. Whats with this nanny state that every section should be cleanable?

Theres nothing i hate more than an observer watching a couple of riders through and forming the opinion that the section cant be ridden no stop so allows riders to stop, THEN!!! a rider actually comes along and rides it legitimately no stop, but gets no credit, because everyone is getting a clean. I see it alllllllll the time!!!!!!

Theres a massive difference between brief pausing and proper stopping. Unfortunately trials doesnt have the luxury to turn away observers who cant tell the difference

    Rant over :)

No, YOU are wrong. Spring rate is mesured in N/mm and you can't change that no matter how far you turn up the pre load.

"Spring Pre-load and spring rate - CHANGING PRE-LOAD DOES NOT CHANGE SPRING RATE. You don’t get a stiffer spring by adding pre-load. Rather you change the weight point at which the spring starts to move. Once the spring starts to compress it will move at its spring rating."

    Oh....gossip....do tell :D

Only seen videos, but most riders were stopping for at least 3 seconds and getting away with it no problem. Whats the point in having a rule if you dont enforce it? Either revert back to stop, or do proper non stop, this middle ground is a joke, and is ultimately the cause of all the arguments

The ACU Standing Regulations for trials define the scoring system, whether the trial is run on no-stop or stop allowed rules (www.acu.org.uk). I think riders would do well to read these as some seem unaware of what constitutes a five, or indeed footing.

And after seeing the observing at the british rnd last weekend a lot of the observers too!!!

  12. Birkett told myself back in '08 that for Joe Baker, who was the best uk rider on a scorpa at the time, the timing was advanced a far as the slots would let it. I never quite went that far, about halfway.

I always found the water pump hose extrememly vunerable, doubt trimming the sump would be advisable. Birkett also made a pump housing that had the outlet turn the 90 degrees in alloy rather than the hose, making it less vunerable to rocks
